There's nothing easy about military training. The amount of discipline required to be an effective soldier is humongous. That's why all military personnel should be admired. (Note I did not mention anything about military actions, so don't bring that up.)

More emphasis has to be placed on tactical drills and real battle simulations.

you can teach a civilian all the tactical drills and weapons training you want but without discipline he is likely to break and flee at the slightest hint that things are going wrong.

The purpose of the training is to help keep the soldiers as fit as possible, because a fat kid in a battleground is simply a larger target, as well as develop a bond and trust between the soldiers. Most people would rather go into combat with a company they know and trust, than to go in with complete strangers.
Like I said, military training is great as a method of "EXERCISE" (I SPECIFICALLY mentioned that), but it doesn't prepare soldiers for real battle situations. Only battle does. Training that is closest to real battle (without killing the soldiers) is the best training for battle. That's just my opinion. I'm rather sure you agree with that too, actually.
I'm obviously not advocating that military exercises be STOPPED. Don't be under that impression.

Morale, fear, emotion, self perception, anticipation, a lot has to be considered. What you described before was only a small PART of war, the physical aspect of it.

It is one of the first books addressing military strategy. While war is a broad category that could include varying examples from fighting within tribes to full scale warfare between nations, we do recognize a specific type of warfare whenever we think of war. That type can be found in the Art of War.

It's basic meaning was not to kill the enemy but rather to dominate, with or without the implementation of violence. The things that you describe are conflicts, or battles. Battles are employed for the purposes of winning a war, just as strategy, espionage and blockades are employed.

Second, what you describe is known as Combat. It is an aspect of war, but not itself war. Combat is the physical side of warfare. To think that war constitutes only combat is extremely nearsighted. Case in point, the Cold War, which was a war but consisted of little to no combat.

That's kind of my point. Drills don't really simulate that, do they? Regardless, I said that military training is good IN EXERCISE (I didn't mean just for physical fitness, but mental fitness too), but it's not a great preparation of what will actually be experienced in combat.

It shows that military training these days often has little to no practical use in the field. Not saying it is useless as an exercise, but when do soldiers have to jump over poles or hang from bars?
More emphasis has to be placed on tactical drills and real battle simulations.
Of course, the nature of this event might mean that only for-show displays of military exercise are done. But I just hope actual military training does not consist of this, at least not mostly.

you have no clue, obstacle courses are used for endurance training, team building and stress management, such things are vital for forming bonds between the unit and enforcing communication and discipline under difficult situations.
you can teach a civilian all the tactical drills and weapons training you want but without discipline he is likely to break and flee at the slightest hint that things are going wrong.
try doing a military obstacle course, it aint easy!

Kamikazeroniner is correct, actually. And I can I've held a gun, fired it before, heck, I'm in the military. The purpose of the training is to help keep the soldiers as fit as possible, because a fat kid in a battleground is simply a larger target, as well as develop a bond and trust between the soldiers. Most people would rather go into combat with a company they know and trust, than to go in with complete strangers.

Like I said, military training is great as a method of "EXERCISE" (I SPECIFICALLY mentioned that), but it doesn't prepare soldiers for real battle situations. Only battle does. Training that is closest to real battle (without killing the soldiers) is the best training for battle. That's just my opinion. I'm rather sure you agree with that too, actually.
I'm obviously not advocating that military exercises be STOPPED. Don't be under that impression.
