What no record producer school? Pentatonics and quartal riffs everywhere. A simple idea expanded. Hall Overton was the arranger since Monk was not all that proficient in scoring and arranging. Monk had ideas but he was too slow in putting them on paper. Monk is like a bad tooth. Your toungue can't help going back and licking it. You resist but the tooth draws you back to it.
I love his album "Trident" has this been reissued on Cd? Being from Detroit, I saw this trio with my heros, Ron Carter and of course the great Elvin Jones.
