  • The key was it had to be done at 17 because who cares if an adult sails around the world...come on where are all my experienced sailors out there? Someone has to agree?

  • @cavanial Of course I agree! Remember the first rule of business: sell the sizzle, not the steak. This story, or perhaps I should say fairy tale, is an example of American puffery at its best. Smile for the cameras, Zac!

  • The USCG was upset when they heard the parents were calling everyone from NIKe, to volcom, to element, as well as MTV for endorsment deals. How many people would let a kid not old enough to buy smokes...sail across the world in such a crappy dangerous boat? I did not believe it then, but my coast guard neighbor just confirmed my suspiciouns.

  • OMG my neighbor works for the US coast guard and said this is the most fabricated story ever! This kid had photography crews, camera people, coast guard escorts couple of hundred yards behind him, even pulled into panama for a few days for boat repairs...not to mention USCG flew a friend to his boat for a few days during the holiday...This was a hoax. They figured it out when they were getting calls from all these endorsment companies to validate if this kid was really sailing alone at 17.

  • You gave me an brilliant idea.

  • He thought up the idea one day while sitting on a beanbag chair.

  • Congratulations...............u are my hero!

  • I excited to be the first to comment on this. That was amazing Zac!!! You are such an inspiration, you gave me goosebumps! Way to go men!
