My mother was a waitress for many years there and my dad was a cheektowaga cop. I spent a good amount of time there as a young kid. Good memories.
I always thought that there should be a documentary about the place. I considered making it but realized I don't have the means. Somebody should do it.
My name is Keith Manson and also had the honor of studying with Eddie just before his death. I am a professional musician and magician and what Eddie taught me not only brought me an opportunity to be on national television but also gave me the tools to be a successful stage performer all these years later in central florida. HATS OFF TO EDDIE!
I worked the bar in the early 80's for about 2 1/2 years. I worked with Ray and Carl and some of the others that worked with Carl wasn't there. Boy, we had a great time and although the pay wasn't great, the times sure were. I speak with great fondness of those days and wonder what it would have been like to rub elbows with Eddie while making drinks and washing glasses.
my dad was ray mertz. this reminded me of all the great times i had at the forks hotel as a kid growing up around there. while i never picked up magic, i work as an artist and use inspiration from my dad's passion to create new works of classic magician posters. i've watched this a good few time, and appreciate the warm memories and ispiration it's given me. thanks!
Ray was a good friend of mine. He was a "Fun Guy". And of all the magicians I saw at the Forks he was the only one I thought that had the talent and gift to replce Eddie. I considered him to be the Heir apparent. Your dad was an artist. Be proud
