Ive been in the room at 3:16 the speakers alone are $250,000 for the two and the whole room has 6 or 8 I believe, plus the countless other instruments and amplifiers, the store is amazing and the speakers are an experience there is no word for.
even though i have 15,000.oo wrapped up in my ht/music system and am very happy with it, i still miss the old vintage days, but of course that also explains why i like old 40's 50's 60's and 70's cars too !!!!! the old vintage pioneer and sansui .
i am looking new matching subs for the front, have not decided on sealed or ported, i have epic, rythmic, svs, elemental designs, jL, paradigm, hsu on my list, i am not in a hurry.
if more high end went factory direct it would allow more people to experience it, the only real need for high end retailers/installers should be for multichannel preamp home theater processors and room treatment issues, the rest (speakers,amps,subs,cables,flatscreen & source components) is pretty fundemental common sense,
i think high end is awsome to a point, i just bought a 1,000.oo crown amp that sounds better than my 3,600.oo dollar bryston amp (4b sst) the crown sounds better than my anthem amp, it also sounds better than my parasound amp and it sounds better than my old adcom,
yeah, but how do they sound? alot! of people have got a clue how to mix high end with stuff that ends up sounds good...if you dont have 'the ear' well. reverse phase, placing bread in the transmission line at christmas to dampen the horns.
cheezies in the nortrils and ears help tone down a loud cold hard room.. full of 'elite' brie and wine scarfing poser numbskulls who only think about the plyboard wood finish...

Nice equipment! But, because the average domestic listening room suffers from reflections, reverberation and resonant peaks and dips that vary by as much as 40db. regardless of price, in such an environment it's impossible to perceive a system's true capabilities, It's won't be even close! Buying exotic equipment without fixing the acoustics is like buying a Bugatti Veyron to improve a dirt track. Far better to buy cheaper and address the acoustics. Mind you, if you can afford the lot....wow!
I have been able to derive as much enjoyment from well selected, tweaked out classic vintage components as much or more than modern giga-buck toys found in snooty audio salons and high end trade shows.
My enhanced pair of NAD 2200's would piss on most of that high end stuff. State of the art in their day. Still not out classed by technology now. Had caps done and integral components also to get them back to original sound with more smoothness. I've been to high end shows to see what the fuss is about. Nothing a cheap budget gear can't do better and servicing and minor upgrades.

Audio pornography !! I love it !! I have a £25 second hand 5.1 Creative surround sound connected to my pc and it sounds amazing to my ears. The difference in price versus the increase in sound quality of these high end systems just doesn't add up unless your an idiot with more money than sense
Stupidly expensive stereo equipment, I'm happy with a 90's Kenwood amplifier 130 watts per channel with a thd of 0.03 and a pair of JBL L36, under $1000 for me, and sounds perfect to me. These system are just meant to show off.
These Systems are made for people who won't spare any expenses for the ultimate Audio experience.
Perhaps you should read the specification of your amp more closely to be sure that it actually can deliver 130 Watts x2 at the same time at the full range and not only at 1kHz 1 channel, since most company's partially lies about there Watts specification or don't test it properly.
I partially agree with gmcjetpilot, i will tell you why; some people get stuff because is a trend and cool. I meet people who act like they know wine an buy expensive bottles and swear by it. Then I come along give them a taste of this and they say this is good and I reply 7.99 and from CA. I drink for taste, I listen to music for taste. I own B&W speakers cm series because my ears fell in love with them a bit pricey but I'm happy.
If i would be rich i would buy myself the mustang eleanors of the HiFi section (Yamaha B-1, B-2, B-2x, MX2000, Onkyo M510, etc.) instead of this overrated expensive shit right there!

But I can't so I settle for a cheap TEAC V-95RX cassette deck, An Akai GX-747 Reel to Reel deck and a pair of Polk RTA 11t speakers. This stuff is 25 years old but still sounds good.

Very lucky few has heard these system, it's not marketed but like a protatype, there is very little of them. All I can say is the sound is beyound words and perfect does exist. I heard it.

Focal-JMlab Grande Utopia EM, and i've read the most negative reviews about these speakers, they cost WAY too much for their sound. I've heard some it's smaller brothers (Scala Utopia and Diablo Utopia) and they both didn't sound like how such expensive speakers should sound. (bad driver integration, lack definition)
The truth is that these devices outweigh top of the line Yamaha reciever and Polkaudio speakers (as an example) by very little in terms of a ratio of price to sound quality generated.. Obviously I'm just talking about a regular home theatre system not a cineplex.

@latribe Actually; in terms of detail, transparency and life-like realism I don't consider Tannoy or Lowther to be remotely in the same class as the MBL 101s or an assortment of good electrostatics. I have heard the MBLs a few times and they are a cut beyond paper coned box speakers. I just wish they weren't so damned expensive.
A pair of Magnepan 3.6, wyred4sound SX-1000 monoblocks and an Oppo universal player and you are living the audiophile dream for under 5K total. There is still hope brother.

I once heard a system that would make all these sound crap, Once upon a time in a universe long ago, people actually cared more for quality than money as its just a buiesness today and during the experiementation and understanding of sound, they made a system that has never been beaten or ever got close to. Very lucky few has heard these system, it's not marketed but like a protatype, there is very little of them. All I can say is the sound is beyound words and perfect does exist. I heard it.

It never had a name and was specially built by the big companies who own the music industry in order to achieve what it's designed to do :P. Had no name written on it. Its not marketed mate.

Hello, I can spell thanks mate, just the space needed to write on here isn't allways enough, Come on give me some entitlement to make a few mistakes. lol. I have heard systems not built for the market but to do the job properly without care for cost. Maybe not 100% perfect but it sounded it. New stuff is crap and most will never know the truths, thanks for the reply. take care.

Ok your right im sorry im British we are a cruel and unusual bunch..like the Germans only funnier. Old stuff is just cheaper.. not better its now just a rich mans playground, and going into a hifi shop ( other than richer sounds!) is like walking into a sacred royal shrine, and dont get me started on the eagle eyed pricks who work there! check out my attempts under Justins home cinema 01. in 2 pts.

Focal-JMlab Grande Utopia EM, and i've read the most negative reviews about these speakers, they cost WAY too much for their sound. I've heard some it's smaller brothers (Scala Utopia and Diablo Utopia) and they both didn't sound like how such expensive speakers should sound. (bad driver integration, lack definition)

The truth is that these devices outweigh top of the line Yamaha reciever and Polkaudio speakers (as an example) by very little in terms of a ratio of price to sound quality generated.. Obviously I'm just talking about a regular home theatre system not a cineplex.

@sweetsweatyfeet It doesn't have to be ultra expensive. Little can beat Lowther, the BIG Tannoys or for near-field Manger - all signoificantly less money than at least one of the speakers on this video

@latribe Actually; in terms of detail, transparency and life-like realism I don't consider Tannoy or Lowther to be remotely in the same class as the MBL 101s or an assortment of good electrostatics. I have heard the MBLs a few times and they are a cut beyond paper coned box speakers. I just wish they weren't so damned expensive.

@sweetsweatyfee Yeah this sort of thing is why the rest of the popoulation around the world is getting paid less and less, taxed more and more, and prices are forever going up, so the filthy rich can continue throwing their wealth around for bragging rights and "live the life" on everybody else's back. When your stereo's price tag is superior to most people's yearly earnings you know something's not right... Music is truly awesome though I can understand the fascination
