The Star Trek theme never used a theremin. Both the pilot episode and season one's theme used Loulie Jean Norman's soprano voice, which is often mistaken for a theremin. Recent syndicated issues of Star Trek used Elin Carlson's voice. (Referencing Wikipedia). The theremin in this episode of BBT is a Moog Etherwave.
