i am soooo confused. Is he real or is he fake. He does have a shadow but the human mind can do amazing things. The fact that he knows how to play golf too is just too coincidental. But why did they show him being in jail and being interrogated? Is it like, " A beautiful mind?" But she wasn't present for everything. So i guess i'll conclude that he's real. The husband and the cops definitely saw him. FU** It's all because of that stupid line at the end of the movie!

This movie is weird ...The writer had some random thoughts which he has compiled together....But over all the story is gripping as the viewer is always trying to decode a logic (which is not there ;) ) .... The best part of the movie is the unique way to barge into people's house :)

Is she psychologically stable? The little dialogue involved the girl and other people, and the boy never says a word. So is he real? I don't know, but I believe that even if he is not it does not matter. She believes he is, which is beautiful.

i think the statement at the end of the movie makes me think that the ending is about our psychological side and physical state. physically, she's 'together' with her husband. however, the real her is in her psychological state of mind. she's with someone who is dead(the male actor) and that to her, is her reality. kinda like shifting between real and imaginary.

kept watching this movie to understand it better. a surreal, thought-provoking film. kim ki duk really is talented.

anyway, i'm quite confused with the ending. i know this may sound a little bit radical but, i think kim ki duk was trying to make a point when there was a picture behind the male actor during the kissing scene. i felt like the female actress has resigned to her fate of being neglected. i felt that the male actor 'soul' was in her.

The beauty of no dialect is that it opens up the interpretation to us. Nice film, very thought provoking, and great use of symbols. Also, that has got to be the most slyest kiss I have ever seen haha

I few comments below are confused whether or not Jae Hee was executed. I don't think that's the case because the husband received a phone call that he had escaped. Does anyone have any ideas on what the ending line means?

On a side note, I absolutely loved the second to last scene. When the music started playing and she was backing up to him. It was romantic and saddening at the same time.

@zdraste90let the original korean title is actually 빈집 which means "empty house". I'm not sure what the 3-iron really means but according to the summary, it was because the the guy used a 3-iron golf club to attack the woman's husband in the beginning of the movie

@ASBari18 You are right, but there's no meaning behind 3-Iron except that's the name of the golfclub that was used.. By the attack, while they were in the park, when the husband seeked revenge, in the parking-thing by the policeofficer etc.

@xxSuuzz: There could very well me another meaning to the 3 iron. It's common knowledge amongst golfers that the 3 iron is the, if not one of the, least-used clubs in the set.

In other words: It's neglected, just like the main character and just like the girl, or even the old man they find dead in the house.

They even give the old man a proper and respectful burial when they could've just left, which perhaps symbolizes their understanding of his neglect from their experiences.
