If you're trying to get a child, a young adult or just for fun really, "The Zombie Survival Guide" by Max Brooks i think, is a great way to wean a reader into thinking critically about survival. Now yes, the threat of econimical collapse is greater than a zombie invasion but the book does a great job of making survival more relavant to a younger reader. Its well written and even has amusing sketches, over all, a fun read.

i to am thinking out side the box i know a lot of sit say 9mm for carry and ar-15 tactical but i think ill go with a plan the army went with army of one fuel so i thought about all the guns and my money plus one for my woman and 22 was the only way to go it comes in walther p22 tactical pistol smith wesson mp15-22 pretty much the same as ar 15 but 22 and a marlin model 60 for hunting and i can grab my ammo can not worry if i got the right ammo

I tend to like the "realclearpolitics" website for general news, though the views are varied. There are many tabs at the top so that you can get stories that focus on the "realclearmarkets" or "world", etc... I also like AmericanThinker for news that more closely resembles my own views. Lastly, I like the "centerforsecuritypolicy", "frontpagemag", and several others. I have over 100 YouTube subscriptions so I'll have to think on that one, but you're in my top 20.
my group has almost 30 outposts all over the US (mostly in nevada, texas, arkansas, rocky moutans, california, alaska, and tornado alley) and one in cannada our primary hq is in south carolina, & for when there is a real collapse where there is no more law or distribution we have solar powered rail transport for long distance travel, but the reason we have all that is because we hit the books & worked on our networking skills, so when shtf we will already be rebuilding (make friends or get dead)

sources= for me it was survival and combat training from 6 to 16 years of age (my recomendation is to find a SOG partner to combat train with aswell as a 82nd airborne trooper to teach you survival) but good books to have can be found in the library tab on the cumberland general store website (its a suply site for people who live off the grid) perhaps they can be of use

My friends im often puzzled on how so many of you think only about getting Guns to kill people and large game.Yes you will need 1 for PROTECTION and some ammunition but thats about it! The REAL gun that you will need for EVERYDAY USE is an Air Rifle that can shoot metal pellets too shoot birds, small mammals, reptiles..even fish!You can get thousands of pellets ridiculously cheap and if u get a quality piece it will last u long time with very low maintenance required.

Hey guys. Question. I personally own a 30-30 Winchester model 94ae and a stainless mini-14 as well as a Stainless .44 mag Taurus tracker. In a SHTF situation would you carry the 30-30 or the .223 remington 'if" you have to chose between the two. I am more concerned about hunting than going rambo down main street.
@dx11101 I'll take the lever action all day long. 30-30 has always been a good bush rifle and is accurate for like 250-300 yards. My experience in Florida...
@slickwilly87 I also have been learning how to reload since about 2008. However I soon realized that most of my equipment is by no means mobile(presses, scales, and such). So i purchased of couple of those "lee loader classics" and some bullet molds as well as a cast iron spoon for melting lead over a fire. This way as long as I have primers and powder I can make 100 brass turn into 1000 shots. In theory i could also salvage lead, powder, and primers from various places.
Patriots scared the hell out of me. It was a little shock therapy though. The book is almost a manual in itself. @dej769 One Second After is OK. I like Alas Babylon, Lucifer's Hammer and they are in the same vein as One Second After. Lights Out is a good one (mostly resembles JWR's Patriots), Civil War 2 (now that's a thinking mans book even if you don't agree with the overtones), The Road (Book is more visceral than the movie), American Apocalypse (By Nova (pen name) if you can get past all of the grammatical errors it's a fair read). Then we have fiction like "The Survivalist", "Deathlands" & others.
Another basic preparedness manual is the LDS preparedness manual - I've had many people borrow my laminated copy so many times that I had a spare made & ordered two more copies. But prepping is a fad now & appears that everyone has a prep channel now it's getting hard to sift the crap from the good stuff. Love that CavArms lower, carbine looks slick decked out for use, not for show.
@mrmilleniumproof lower is molded from "glock" polymer and is one piece. 1lb lighter than a traditional lower and is really durable. Fun to shoot. Thanks for the post. Yeah, that's an old copy of Patriots.

I've done it myself! Save your money people. Read those books and you'll see why most "survival" oriented things you might purchase are a waste! It's mostly a mindset, not a gear set.

@theroadwarri0r In fact even in the U.S.A. you can not hold assault rifles and also you need a permit to carry a gun - same in EU: you need gun permit and how many weapons you can hold on a the license collector, you can go to a range with the guns to shoot or use them for self-defense - the condition is not to be full auto. In fact I can order the same weapons as you from the U.S. market. An assault rifle must be capable of selective fire - your carbine is not.

Hey guys. Question. I personally own a 30-30 Winchester model 94ae and a stainless mini-14 as well as a Stainless .44 mag Taurus tracker. In a SHTF situation would you carry the 30-30 or the .223 remington 'if" you have to chose between the two. I am more concerned about hunting than going rambo down main street.

@dx11101 I'll take the lever action all day long. 30-30 has always been a good bush rifle and is accurate for like 250-300 yards. My experience in Florida...

@slickwilly87 I also have been learning how to reload since about 2008. However I soon realized that most of my equipment is by no means mobile(presses, scales, and such). So i purchased of couple of those "lee loader classics" and some bullet molds as well as a cast iron spoon for melting lead over a fire. This way as long as I have primers and powder I can make 100 brass turn into 1000 shots. In theory i could also salvage lead, powder, and primers from various places.

Patriots scared the hell out of me. It was a little shock therapy though. The book is almost a manual in itself. Some good services are _ the extinction protocol, RSOE EDIS, The Economy collapse, survival blog (of course), Peter Schiff (the Schiff Report), Mark faber, ronpaulfriends (another channel) Safety Joe (he has an account on every social media site). man i miss the days when you could get all those old military knowledge books.... they had everything from imporvised explosives to how to smith your own parts for a rifle.. but in the long run police and other agencies did not like that knowledge being excessible. those were the days you could buy det cord and cannon fuse at the gun show XD good thing i picked up about 90 percent of the good books they had.. I went to the bookstore to get Patriot today,but they were still out of it so I ordered a copy.Have you read 'one second after" by William Forchten (sp?)?I picked it up and just started.It's supposed to be good too.Thanks for your effort you put into your vids....Bama Prepper BTW,the SAS manual is available through I-tunes as well for $6.99.I have it on my I-phone.

@dej769 One Second After is OK. I like Alas Babylon, Lucifer's Hammer and they are in the same vein as One Second After. Lights Out is a good one (mostly resembles JWR's Patriots), Civil War 2 (now that's a thinking mans book even if you don't agree with the overtones), The Road (Book is more visceral than the movie), American Apocalypse (By Nova (pen name) if you can get past all of the grammatical errors it's a fair read). Then we have fiction like "The Survivalist", "Deathlands" & others.

Another basic preparedness manual is the LDS preparedness manual - I've had many people borrow my laminated copy so many times that I had a spare made & ordered two more copies. But prepping is a fad now & appears that everyone has a prep channel now it's getting hard to sift the crap from the good stuff. Love that CavArms lower, carbine looks slick decked out for use, not for show.

@mrmilleniumproof lower is molded from "glock" polymer and is one piece. 1lb lighter than a traditional lower and is really durable. Fun to shoot. Thanks for the post. Yeah, that's an old copy of Patriots.

@CPLBSS88 that's exactly my point. Thanks for saying that. I'm trying to get folks to read these books BEFORE they go out and spend hundreds (or more) on a bunch of crap they don't need. I've done it myself! Save your money people. Read those books and you'll see why most "survival" oriented things you might purchase are a waste! It's mostly a mindset, not a gear set.
