The dog you see here, Pal was born in North Hollywood in 1940 and died there 18 years later in 1958. He was the a great dog and Mr. Weatherwax was heartbroken--he could not watch any of the movies with Pal again.
This is my top favorite dog movie. The next is one I only saw once in 1975 called "Where The Red Fern Grows". I have been looking for the DVD maybe TCM sells it?
@fluffybunny41You most likely saw it on a black & white television set, like most of us kids, back in the 50's..MGM released it in technicolor, in 1943..Since that time, all of Lassie's movies were in technicolor..
I bet that's why you remember it in black and white. I've only ever seen it in color...and I think it's shot in technicolor...but I haven't seen the credits in quite some time.
i found this movie great as well. i have a little problem. Does anyone remember the movie Thunderhead, Son of Flicka(Roddy McDowall)i've been trying everyday too find it on here and it's just *NOT* on here. Does anyone have it too upload on here or where can i download the full movie and download full movie of My Friend Flicka(Roddy McDowall)

Yeah ~ Roddy McDowell ~ he also played the main ape in Planet of the Apes & the TV series that followed.
(He was gay & was very well known for .... shall we say...... being very large)

Saw this at the matinee in the late '60's as a little girl. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. Great book, too. If only people
were so faithful to one another...

Yes, and all "Lassies" that came after - both in other movies and TV series - are descendants of this first one.
