  • Who more prefer the PSX version?

  • Yes, the original WAS horribly awkward, but that was part of its charm, like the voice acting in the original Resident Evil.

  • This version sounds much more natural. Even IGA said that the original PS1 dialouge was 'horribly awkward.'

  • First of all, I hardly believe that the voices and lines of the original are well fit with the game's atmosphere and character, the Gothic style. Some quotes are so... Epic, legendary.

When I heard about making new voice-overs of the game, I didn't realise how... lame that would be. The result... F A I L! SO FAIL! Childish, ridiculously awful. So shame.

A true fan will NOT play the game on PSP, especially if wants to feel the whole experience. It's like playing a different game.

    HAVE AT YOU!

  • I find the old one much better...

  • Dracula sounds like Ragna, and Richter sounds like Jin. Am I reminding something?

Anyway, if you look to the voice actors of Ragna and Jin, to Dracula and Richter (for the SoTN part) respectively, they're are the same.

  • @prosepokemon I don't know who you are talking about but the new Richter and Dracula are voiced by Yuri Lowenthal and Patrick Seitz respectively, who are 2 very popular voice over artists.

  • @prosepokemon Wait scratch that. Yuri voiced Alucard not Richter. But I'm right about Dracula.

  • A miserable little pile of secrets

  • Now what really annoys me, is how people just completely bash on the new dub, I personally like both of them for different reasons, but just bashing on it saying that its horrible is not true, I'm not saying you have to like it. but there's a difference from saying "I don't like this personally" then saying "THIS IS JUST A PILE OF CRAP"

  • WTF?

they made richter and dracula have faggots dubbing them?

  • These 45 seconds is what made that entire 're-do' of SOTN SOOOO horrible.

  • Why PSP is worse: 0:40

Dracula talks, laughs, AND teleports ALL at the SAME time.

  • @godzillamoviesrule Are you implying that your lord isn't able to do it, you miserable little pile of secrets?

  • they mess up this dialog badly old school castlevania symphony of the night best ever i still own a copy for ps1

  • I think the dialog is from the translated original Japanese dialog. Am I right?

  • @xter7856

nope. This seems like a re-phrasing of the PS dialogue. It's a little different from the original Japanese. For example, Dracula's last line is actually "Worthless. We shall let death decide which of us is right." Not as awesome as "What is a man?" but better than this re-dub. I'd like to see the PS dub as an optional language alongside English and Japanese.

  • They sound more natural. The original lines do give the feeling that they are ready to kill each other, but not to the same effect, in my opinion. However, I like both lines for different reasons. And think about it: here, Dracula sounds very certain of himself, and his words are over-emphisized because he wants Richter to pay attention to every word that is meant to hurt him. Richter sounds like he is trying to bolster his confidence with louder speech. In the end, it may just be preference.

  • No! They should have got Timothy Dalton to do Dracula's voice! ^_^

  • it sounds like they are reading it from badly written q cards

  • This is much better than the PSX version, IMO. Dave played a good Richter, and Drac's VA (I forget the name) is pretty good as well.

  • @TheAzureKnighthood Dracula's voice actor is Patrick Seitz.

  • @Kitty9991

    Ah, noted. Thanks.

  • @TheAzureKnighthood You're welcome!:)

  • I love how at the end he is talking and laghing at the same time XD

  • wtf is a man?

  • will the world ever know?!

  • A miserable little pile of secrets, yet it is also a cesspit of hatred and lies

  • @produner1 A pitiful little pile of secrets!

  • Campy nostalgia be damned. This is clearly the better lines and the better voice acting.

  • Yeah, Richter's a lot better and the others are at least equal if not superior (though I can't be the only one who liked how dissonant Alucard's voice was in the first dub).

Well, except Death. The new voice is passable, but the old one had a colder voice and a better laugh. =[

  • DIE MONSTAR

  • I'm just glad the Japanese dialogue is an option on the PSP version. I prefer those over the English. :-)

  • i like this version a little better (the voice acting) but i would prefer Alucards old voice with this dialogue

  • PS1 voice actors and dialogue FTW!!!

"all i'm here for is you"

yeah that totally doesnt sound gay richter ;P

  • Your words are as empty as your soul... and what happened to the little pile of secrets?

  • DIE MONSTER, YOU DON'T BELONG IN THIS WORLD...Where have you gone my love....

  • Oh I know.. ]=

WHAT IS A MAN?! A MISERABLE LITTLE PILE OF SECRETS! ....Where are you, my most cherished video game line.. -Tear-

  • original=EPIC!!! this one=X(

  • Original is better and I have the original on my psp :D! (and its in full screen)

  • I like this one better. But then, I don't get along with narm.

  • boooo original is better

  • The true heresy is to the change the lines. hahahahahahaha

  • lol saoudosists...dracula lines in the remake >>>>>>the original...richiter is good too...

  • Terrible compared to original, in my opinion.

  • ive heard that the original line was suppose to be "What is a man? i miserable pile of shit!"

that would have rocked the balls and ass of all gamers.

  • Yeah. That was from the original PSX version, though. The PSP version was an unlockable remake. But most hard core CV fans think of it as crappy port like the SNES port of CV5.

  • No, read what he said.

It's not "miserable pile of shit" it's "a miserable little pile of secrets"

  • @Pokpal178

Rondo of Blood is not CV5, Dracula X on the SNES is not a a port of that game, and I'm as hardcore CV fan as I can get, and I like this new dub and the PSP additions to that version of SotN.

  • Man, what the hell...

  • You know what is stupid. Electronic Gaming Monthly said that the ''What is a man?'' line was one of the worst video game lines ever. But seriously have you ever heard a hero using a line to make the villin shut up or get mad. Well dracula just did that in symphony of the night:

Richter: Your words are as empty as your soul mankind ill needs savior such as you.

Dracula: WHAT IS A MAN?! A missrible little pile of secrets, but enough talk, HAVE AT YOU!

Neither Bowser or Ganon can beat that line.

  • If you play the demo on Xbox 360, that line gets real short after hearing it every 5 minutes, but I agree with you, I do like that line

  • @Tabuu101 You know that it doesn't matter what line the hero uses, the villian will only shut up if the guys who made the game WANT him to. I really doubt Drac would care about that line.

  • These voices are definitely better. In the PSX version, Richter was bland and tasteless, and Dracula didn't sound terrible, but his lines were bad and this Dracula sound so much more big and sinister.

    The conversation is better too.

  • They fucked up again. The voices were fine but the new lines suck. They should have stuck with the original lines.

  • Richter is a little to 'High pitched' for my taste, and Dracula doesnt sound dark enough.. aswell Dracula sounds more ammused then he should be at the end....

  • @Tabuu101 holy christ this is retarded why the hell .... -_-

  • The old voices and lines were one of those, so bad its good kinda things, but I like the new lines and voices too.

  • I like the old voices and lines better:

Like when Dracula said: "What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets, but enough talk. HAVE AT YOU!" Best.. Line.. EVER!!

  • Man this re-write is lame. I mean come on. The original had soul. This is just crappy dialog.

  • Oh, come on, this new one is good, but I understand the change itself was a mistake.

  • Well the conversation is way better. No typos and stuff like in the PS version... HOWEVER, the voice actors suck. Dracula sounded archaic and powerful in the PS version, but here...*cringe*...and Richter is just not convincing enough. I'll always prefer the ones in the PS version better: "Die monster, you don't belong in this world!" = so freaking epic...

  • I like the old voices and lines better.

The way the old Dracula said "Huuuuuuuminssss" was hilarious.

  • Well, I can't comment on the original performances, as I've never seen them...

    This however:

While I don't know the first voice, Patrick Seitz (one of my favorite VAs) does Dracula here, and I think he nailed the role.

  • Man they fucked up the voices and dialogue. The old ones were perfect.

  • Indeed...

  • These words are remake and turned into Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles sentence and the voice actors are changed, then remake.

  • Die monster! You don't belong in this world!

  • the old voices kicked ass so hard i luv them, they seemed so old english style

  • Very well done!

  • What happened with the "The same could be said of all religions" ???? Man, that was my favorite line!

  • Why must they all be so terrible?

  • why couldn't they use the same voice actors? anyone have an answer?

  • Because the older voice actors shown rather sub-par acting and failed to cover their thick accents.

My guess is that they werent even native English speakers which made it hard for them to emphasize the right emotion on the right words.

(Except the guy who voiced Dracula. I dont care what anybody says about him. HE showed loads of potential!)

  • It seemed more appropriate back then when they used sentences like "Mankind ill need [...]".

The "ill" part was like, olde english of that era. It striked me as more appropriate.

  • These voices are better, but then, the old talk could work better.

  • Same here. That guy WAS Dracula! And I also liked Death's voice too.

  • the worste people when it comes to game text is capcom.Half the time they miss spell!!

  • You're definately the de facto authority on spelling, I can tell.

  • LOL!!!

  • this game is by Konami

  • My personal opinion after hearing both versions: The old one has nice text, while the old one has better voice acting and drama.

Personally though, for both versions, I would have loved to _hear_ some sarcasm on Dracula's part (especially the old one, which is more sarcastic).... oh well...

  • Can you reword that, and with a grain of sense this time.

  • I only like dracula voice and dialogues !!

"oh but this world ivited me"

  • I prefer the original lines... Though, I can tell this is much better translated, and most of the voice actors are better than those on the PS1 version. Though, they didn't need to change Alucard's voice actor. His was the only one that fit the character in the PS1 version.

  • they changed the text

    Kanomi is nothing but a MIS-ERA-BLE LIT-TLE PI-LE of SE-CRETS!

  • Your a thief! You steal men's souls...

  • thier freedom

  • i like the new voice acting, its even cheesier.

  • What is a man? A miserable little pile of shit!

  • Someone ought to YouTube Poop that.

  • That echo's still there.

  • If that really is Crispin Freeman doing Drac, instant win. "AND DIE FOR THEIR SINS!" Great delivery.

  • It's Patrick seitz actually.

  • Patrick Seitz. Got it. I had my doubts since it sounds much different than what I'm used to from Crispin, but everyone was claiming it was him.

Still love that line delivery, though.

  • Dracula laughs in the middle of a word...

  • Yeah, he can do anything! :D

  • Yeah...I prefer the original lines more as well.

  • "What is man, but a miserable pile of secrets! Have at you!"

  • i loved alucard old voice acting better..

the deep voice... made me a fan of his sad

  • noooo! what have they done to my favorite castlevania! i guess i'll be switching to the japanese voices when i play this...

  • I like the old speech better because it's just plain legendary, but I have to say Dracula and Richter sound alright; just as good as before. Alucard and Death on the other hand... Who thought it was a good idea to have Yuri play Alucard?

  • Die, monster! You don't belong in this world!

  • It was not by my hand that I was once again given flesh...

  • I WAS CALLED HERE BY HUMANs

who wish to pay ME tribute....

  • I was called here by humans. Who wish to pay me tribute... =P

  • Tribute! You steal men's souls and make them your slaves.

  • Perhaps the same could be said of all religions...

  • Your words are as empty as your soul. Mankind ill needs a saviour such as you.

  • A MIS-ERA-BLE LIT-TLE PI-LE of SE-CRETS!

    But E-NOUGH TALK

    HAVE AT YOU!"

  • WHAT is A MAN!?

  • Those lines are all too classic.

  • "WHAT is A MAN!?

    A MIS-ERA-BLE LIT-TLE PI-LE of SE-CRETS!

    But E-NOUGH TALK

    HAVE AT YOU!"

  • The irony of it all is that while the original acting was deemed amature, it's all we're used to and probably all that we ever will be used to.

  • What the fuck did they do to my favorite dialogue in games!?

  • Made it less cheesy.

  • K no. The dialogue is definitely better in this version. not even close guys, sry. The voice actors are terrible, but at least Dracula's voice doesn't sound like a 20 year-old trying to sound like he's 50, and Richter doesn't sound like he's in his 30s. Richter's supposed to be a teenager during this battle.

  • The new Richter VA kinda reminds me of Jamie Bamber's "Lee 'Apollo' Adama" from the new Battlestar Galactica series. :)

  • Richter (Voiced by the new VA): "HOLY MASTER OF BATS, BATMAN!"!

  • I wonder if Richter will sound cool when he's manipulated by Shaft to be "lord of this castle".

  • *Sighs* Richter now sounds like young Burt Ward, who's famous for playing Robin in the "campy" live-action Batman TV show from the 1960's.

  • Actually I just realized, Dracula here like the Dracula from Curse of Darkness sounds like an "old" Mathias Cronqvist!

    That's pretty good news.

  • So far the only voices I like are Dracula,Maria, and Richter. "Mankind! A cesspit of hatred and lies." I miss the old dialogue btwn Drac and Ric. It wasn't that bad actually. If the PS1 Sotn wasn't rushed,I believe the original voices would have sounded better.

  • The new Death isn't great at all. And his laugh is retarded. Alucard sounds way too youthful for me. I liked it when he had the deep voice performed by Robert Belgrade.

  • The deep voice is what made Alucard for me. He didn't need to be youthen up.

  • Agreed. I gotta say though... Dracula's new "Nobunaga Oda" look in the Rondo remake contradicts Nocturne/Symphony. I despite Dracula's new design..... It's so Onimusha.

  • I guess Dracula got gray over those 5 years from RoB to SotN. There goes that eternal life thing for vampires. I wouldn't mind seeing Walter return in a future game. Maybe in the final battle btwn Dracula and the Belmonts. He gets released from the Crimson Stone when Julius finally defeats Dracula. Just a thought.

  • But yes, like the old one.... The new "Jesus" is fantastic. Probably the best new VA.

  • TRIBUTE!?! YER UH THIEF! xD

  • The original dialogue was actually very cool, the thing that made it funny was the voice actors. If they wanted to make it 'hip' for the younger crowd, they should have used the same dialogue, just with the newer voice actors. The old stuff is legendary, it shouldn't have been tampered with.

  • the old voice acting was much better

  • Don't let nostalgia blind you

  • Exactly. I love both sets of VAs.

  • I do believe that the old voices and lines were better. This isn't dramatic enough.

  • The best new VA is Dracula. However in the end, Alucard, Richter and Death were better in the old. For Dracula, the superiority between the old dubs and the new dubs is a draw.

  • This is true. I heard that he new CV Jesus was voiced by Crsipin Freeman. So I guess we do get an old "Mathias Cronqvist."

  • Yep so it seems...

  • Much better than the old voices, I think. This Dracula sounds smooth and sinister, while the old Drac sounded like a drunken Revolver Ocelot.

  • its entertaining hearing everything revoiced and a new script too! very refreshing and just as good.

  • HATRED AND LIES

  • Die monster! You don't belong in this world! It was not by my hand that I am once again given flesh. I was called here by humans who wish to pay me tribute. Tribute!?! You steal men's souls, and make them your slaves! Perhaps the same could be said of all religions. Your words are as empty as your soul! Mankind ill-needs a savior such as you! What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets! But enough talk... have at you!
