Ah Yes! i can make it out as well here! Its interesting to see these Trio leading it (Like Always) with a great K5 amazingly. Eric, i've noticed how you said you caught a trio of Blue Sd60I's here in July earlier, and well that seems pretty rare for this area. trust me i'd know! I've been to the curve 8 times in the last 12 years and have rarely seen an all Conrail Powered Coal Drag. They're more common to be seen on Intermodal or Freights
The 536 I caught here in July had a blue trio! Normally it is a mix blue/black, and 536 almost always has 3 SD60I's. They are designated specifically for the Strawberry Ridge facility, which requires a special cut plow. I remember one time they sent an SD60I without a cut plow in there... let's just say it had one when it left (pretty banged up). LOL!
@Hickler90 I remember seeing trios of ex-CR SD40-2s on the same train. I even have video of one run on my account. It's been a long time since NS quit assigning those units to this service.
What I love about the K5LA horns on most SD70ACs and SD60Is is that they are loud like this one. It sounds good when they are loud and people listening to loud music can hear them while in the car driving. ***** and a favorite.
536, 537 and other Strawberry Ridge coal trains use this train any day at any time. The Nittany and Bald Eagle BT local runs every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, south in the mornings, and north generally around noon.
I was just wondering, because these trains are so long and it must be a hassle to get around town if these trains were going by a lot during the day. Thanks for answering my question, Great catch
Of what? The Nittany and Bald Eagle local? I do, it is already online, it had a Lycoming Valley GP35 for power. I still have another to add, it had an NBER CF7 for power.
Where's the number I can call to buy the loco? The only thing is, I have nowhere to put a full scale loco. Great video, the quality is amazing!

what are the odds of getting 3 SD60I's?
Pwnage4794 2 years ago
They have 3 SD60I's 90% of the time. Sometimes it works out that all three are blue.
o00o00ozy 2 years ago
damn, i didnt know that they were still that common, thought some woulda been lost after CSX/NS bought Conrail out.
Pwnage4794 2 years ago
That is true for the PPLX coal trains, always 3 SD60I's and usually they'll all be blue
Guser223 2 years ago
Only if we were back 5 years, these would be SD40-2's...
xxxDeath9572xxx 2 years ago
oh, ok
Guser223 2 years ago
A couple years back they only used SD40-2s. It was almost rare to see NS, as it was usually a trio of blue Conrail Qs.

Only if then was now or that buyout didn't happen till say 08' ?
xxxDeath9572xxx 1 year ago
Go back a good 5 years and these would be SD40-2's... ;D

If you are watching it in High-Quality mode, during the second of 1:34 you should be able to make out "FOR SALE".

Perfect in your face shot. Great sounding K5, although it bothers me the RS3L is gone.
Not everyday you see an Ex-CR SD60I trio. If only they were still Blue..

I caught a Blue trio here in Morgantown, West Virginia about a week ago. A rare catch for our neck of the woods.

There are still like 3 CSX SD60I units that still have the RS3L horns. Most of them have been replaced but not all.
