@thychaos i just find that some of the more modern bands seem to try too hard and thus make the scariness of the sound less apparent. In many ways its the contrast of melodic riffs and chucks scream that makes it scary. Too much Amelody and it gets boring after a while and loses the desired affect.

@WinterDweller That is such an ignorant statement. Even though Chuck was and will ever be the best, it doesn't take away the fact that Death Metal is a collective genre and Morbid Angel, as well as Deicide, Pestilence, Immolation and Atheist among so many others are amazing bands.

It's normal to think that the crowd sucks, but it's important to remember that SOP wasn't out yet, so it was the first time the audience ever heard the song. If you look at the other vids of the concert, you can see better moshing going on. Although no crowd is good enough for Death!

What's this about comparing pantera to death? I'm sorry to say even though dimebag is awesome... but chuck and death rape pantera. Death's songs off this album are life lessons and remind me to be always prepared for life, idk maybe I'm tripping but that's how I feel.

Pantera started GROOVE METAL, jackass, and inspired bands like Lamb Of God & Chimaira. Death started DEATH METAL, and inspired bands like Nile, Necrophagist, & Obscura. You wouldn't compare LOG to Obscura, so why bother to compare Death to Pantera? Its makes you look like a douche conoe.

@thychaos i just find that some of the more modern bands seem to try too hard and thus make the scariness of the sound less apparent. In many ways its the contrast of melodic riffs and chucks scream that makes it scary. Too much Amelody and it gets boring after a while and loses the desired affect.
