I live in Montreal Canada and almost EVERY day during their shows, all the hosts on CJAD radio are trashing cyclists and demanding cyclists are licenced and having to pay insurance fees to ride their bikes. All this crap every day has caused motorists to hate cyclists even more. These radio ass holes are creating so much hate on the roads that i see motorists giving me dirty looks for the most stupid reasons. I think we cyclists should band together and complain about these radio hate mongers.

Roads are primarily for cars now, but roads were NOT made for cars. The paved road as we know it today became common because BIKES always had to ride on dirt roads, and they advocated for paved roads. So before you open your mouth to the world to show how uneducated you are, do some research. If you actually tried riding a bike for one day you wouldn't say 110% of the things you said. If EVERYONE used bikes more than cars, the world would be much better than it is today.

Tony is totally right (well ok I don't want to run over cyclists but still). The roads in the DC area are crowded enough without some bike rider with a Lance Armstrong complex taking up space. I wouldn't mind the bike riders if they actually rode at the speed limit, if the speed limit is 35 then ride at 35 mph, not less. And before any doofus tells me to take the metro, the metro doesn't serve the exurbs and isn't very reliable anyway.

If I drove 15 or 20 mph under the speed limit I would get a ticket for impeding traffic, same should go for cyclists. I don't care about cyclists on bike paths I'm talking about cyclists on an actual road. And I drive a Chevy Cavalier, it's a pretty small car.

Here's my beef. I ride my bicycle for transportation almost every day. Making "jokes" about giving bicyclists a little bump isn't amusing to me. I've been hit twice, neither time my fault. The problem is, a lot of drivers feel this way, and what can seem like a little tap to a driver can kill a cyclist. When someone advocates this in the media, they need to realize that there are morons out there who will go out and do it.

As for cyclists riding on crowded DC streets, where else would you suggest we ride? We are commuters, the bike is a vehicle, and we have every right to ride in the street, which is not dangerous unless drivers try to kill us.
