  • This game was a Human player's dream, it must've been so much fun

  • There are real people in front row audience

  • Theory 6 !

  • i loved playing this :D the 6 weeks we had to build our robot were intense i have one of the vids from our San Diego regional on my channel :D this was so much fun i learned alot from it and everyone should join first in highschool

  • my brother went to the one at moody coliseum for the dallas regional in 09. he said it was awesome. i wanna do the FIRST lego competion. it looks fun

  • im on 69 from Quincy. we were semifinalists at boston. we had a really good chance of winning but our chain broke in every single match in the elimination round, and we choose bad teams for our alliance.

  • 61 shifters were great. deserved win. didnt robovikes win something?

2877 ligerbots was good for rookie. luv their mascot. XD

  • Robovikes won two awards, one being the website award.

The ligerbots were two older teams that merged together I believe, but I could be wrong. Either way, they were very good :D

  • Wow, thanks for the recognition :)

We are actually an entirely new team, with members from two rival high schools. The school mascots are the lion (Newton South) and tiger (Newton North), hence "Ligerbots".

anyway, Boston was fun and I just got back from Hartford CT, which was also fun! we have 4 shiny trophies, including Highest Rookie Seed at both and Rookie Allstars at Boston :D

  • Hey blood, i went to the boston regional too, who won, cause the cows left after the pick =/

  • Winning teams were:

    - 61 (Shifters)

    - 190 (Gompei and the H.E.R.D.)

    - 1099 (Lions)

They defeated the number one alliance.

  • WE CAME 11th lol we even beat the winning team

    this blows man :/

  • I nearly forgot that the first week of competition was already over :O

My team will be heading out to the Boston Regional in less than 3 days, so watch out :D

  • were going to Philadelphia cant go to Boston lol

  • It's regolith!!!!!

  • 1787 Orange High School

  • I don't like this game at all lol

    however,

    GOOD LUCK ALL TEAMS!

    (rooting for

    522 robo wizards and

    371 Cyber warriors)

  • I don't agree with the methodology of this competition. Why have so much human participation; when you could put a greater emphasis on the robots you've spent time constructing and not on "human interference". However, I do see how it gives more oppertunity for more people to join in.

  • As the competitions start, teams will figure out how valuable their robots will become.

But you are right, the first few regionals will be heavily "human player dependent."

  • The robots control where the humans shoot. Being able to minimize the HP's impact on the game is one of the keys to winning.

  • GO TEAM 1751!! Though I am not on a team, one of my friends is =D

  • You should join your school's robotics team :D

  • 955 Crescent Valley High School Robotics. Our hot wheel is a max dimensioned out (in everyway, 26X36X60 119.5lb) 4 CIMed 4 wheel drive with a ShotGun Revovler on top. =) see you at the national, folks. =)

  • Good luck to all teams out there. Just want to give out my best wishes from Team 4 Element of L.A., CA.

  • 2556 Radioactive Roaches = Win

  • 1517 Lumberjacks will cut the opposition to shred!

  • That's not very GP nor is it within the rules to destroy other robots ;)

  • I didn't mean literally and which team do you belong to?

  • Thanks for uploading this Krill. You would.

  • TEAM 529!!!!!!!! oh yeah!!!! Mansfield/Foxboro Massachusetts!!!!

  • 1579 will win ;-)

  • 1266 DEVIL DUCKIES (from San Diego) is THERE!!!!!!!!!!! Hope to see you all at the San Diego games! I'm a freshmen... my first year.....

  • hahaha. good luck. there's a school near my area that randomly went to San Diego last year. They lost so badly. XD

  • Man this seems so challenging. I can't wait! Good luck other teams!

    Go Phelps 2912!

  • This is a hard but interesting challenge. It looks like it will be fun but a tough engineering challenge. I am looking forward to being at the competition. I will be there with team 1073. See you all at the competition. Good Luck.

  • This game is almost like FRC 2004 First Frenzy

  • I actually like the game, because it challenges teams in entirely different ways than in previous years. I think that's kind of the point, to make it a "level playing field" every year for new teams by screwing up conventions.

  • I'll be there

    with team 287

nothing will be more fun than throwing rocks from robots on ice... sounds like an 80's music video idea!!

  • good luck to everyone! team 1266 the devil duckies! remember to adopt one from us at the competitions! they go fast so come by early!

  • Team 987 From Cimarron! CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD!

    I'm going there next year:P

    I'm still in 8th. hah

  • I WILL DOMINATE ALL BY MYSELF

  • woo any ideas on how to have some controll people? team 207

  • Shrugs...I miss the classic games...go on wikipedia and check out some of the first competition games and rules, now those were sweet!

  • TEAM 1203 PANDEMONIUM!

  • Kingtrix-

    Team 57

    the LEOPARDS

    Good Luck

  • 2173 Roborocks FTW!

  • anyone know the song they used during the creation of this video? Sounds cool :)

Good luck to all the teams and this year will rock! :) A new challenge for all to solve.

    -Tomi

    team 1787 from Cleveland, OH

  • good luck team 1577 and all the team that competite this year

  • At first i was like this isnt that great a game but when i really pay attention the gameplay and everything will be WICKED AWESOME!

Good Luck to all teams from Team 2582 PantherBots

  • Good Luck!

    -Will TEAM 862

  • this is going to be hella challenging :D

    Cant wait!!

    -Karen

    team 2550

  • I know, seriously, my team last year was 2557, I don't know about this year, but yeah, cant wait!!

  • the whole wheels and surface thing is diabolical, there almost completely frictionless

  • fuuuuuuuuuun

    Team Caution 1492

  • This challenge is way more difficult than last year's, lol. Wicked intense. XD

    Good luck everyone!

I'll be there at the Agganis Arena at BU in March.

-Wolfie from Team 2589, the Codebandits

  • To paraphrase an awesome children's book: 'and all they could say was...wow.'

Good luck to everyone from team 2399, and we'll

see you all at the competition!

  • I have to make our robot automated AND manual? Now I have to deal with camera function along with the basics. Ooh, but the concept of shooting "rocks" into baskets puts pneumatic awesomeness in my head.

*mind-writes a lot of stuff I'm thinking of*

    (Team 2148)

  • Man, this years competition is very different from last years. I can't wait! Thanks to whomever put this video up, I was not going to wait an hour for my internet to download from the FIRST website. This will be an interesting year. Good luck everyone! (Team 2187)

  • thanks for the vid

ha drive train innovation is gonna be challenging

  • i love this.

  • yes Biomimcry, look at this video on u-tube.

  • 1 years ego my brothers wins!!!!

    this year beeter cool!

  • thanks for putting up the video, really helps :]

  • the 3ds max competition? it already happened.

  • and I already have a killer design

  • Does anyone have the kickoff intro video? They taped my team, and i wanted to see how it turned out...

  • does anybody no the password 2 the rules

  • autonamous is going to be painful

  • It will pose a challenge :)

  • Yeah. I wish I was still in High School too. I think the game has some interesting challenges and that the slippery floor will make for some very interesting robot designs. I am pretty mad about limiting you to the starting dimensions though. It's going to limit teams a lot more than I think is wise.

  • i think this game's way too simplistic, but the fact that my team can't come up with a decent robot idea kinda tells me that this is going to be alot harder than i thought. Good luck to everyone!

  • So what's your ideas?

  • ...

This scares me, on so many levels.

Our bots are going to get owned, haha.

Not only am I the A) Only programmer for the team B) Only 4th year member of the team this year, but C) We have to deal with the new control system ON TOP OF LOW FRICTION!?

    O.o I am very scared.

    -Team 1502

  • Nyah~ Sank you!!! I has a moar visual than haha mental, so to speak.

    -Team 1511 Member, Penfield, NY

  • I have to say I've been doing this for 8 years I'm really unexcited about this game.I think there are too few things to do and that they're treating the smooth floor as an engineering challenge when in reality it is mostly a limitation. I also think that limiting robots to stay within starting dimensions will really hurt teams creativity. Essentially I think this will end up a slow paced game where simple uninteresting mechanisms rule. (A trend of which FIRST has followed since raising the bar).

  • where did you see the rule for limiting robots to stay in their starting dimensions? Is that something I missed?

  • Mommy hold me, I'm scared! XD

Seriously though, this is terrifying. They kept making the games harder in some areas and easier in others...and now there's this.

Alumni of team 263, and I'm really clueless as to how we'll go about playing this one.

I may not be allowed to build, but I can bloody well make suggestions! :D

  • This game is gonna be OFF THE HOOK!!!

...I only wish I was still in high school :(

  • awesome, watching this video again helps me understand the game so much better, and I even read the entire manual.

  • why couldnt they have just used ice

    (hockey blades)

  • Can you imagine trying to program turns with hockey blades? We'd all be spending 6 weeks trying to make the thing go straight, forget about turning!

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!

i slept through the kickoff presentatino

    i almost cried lol.

  • Finally! Those six years spent playing basketball day and night will come into use!

  • Thanks for posting it so quickly. I couldn't find it on the FRC site.

Looks like a very different game this year - especially the part about the low friction playing surface.

  • You are very welcome :)

My team had gathered together to watch the live stream of the animation, but the internet went down during the animation, and the whole taem missed it :(

So I figured I'd add this to youtube for easier access :)

And as for the game, I personally find it more interesting than last years (though last year was a blast as well!).

I wonder what the referees are going to do. Seems like there aren't any ways to get penalties.
