  • I see a lot of cry babies on here lol. Ive used the manta ray to squat over 400 and I can also do the same amt of weight without it. Its actually a pretty good device if you just dont want to tear up your traps....for those who are considering purchasing one, go ahead....to the rest who hate it fuck off

  • quick question and i'd really appreciate a reply - I understand the benefits of the Manta Ray for squates and lunges but what about goodmornings? Thanks

  • @MikeKidDynamiteTyson . Thanks for the question mate. Good morning themselves are not really an exercise widely recommended these days. Sure . it 's great for hammies and lower back but to load your upper back and then lean forward is just plan freakin crazy & dangerous for a result not equal to some of the better and more fundamental exercises! So no Manta Ray needed cos you should skip them and do good old deadlifts , stiff legged deadlifts or single leg stiff leg deads instead. Cheers :)

  • Thanks J , it certainly is. Love ur muay thai - looking good man, I used to do it - think I might get back into it!

  • i got a manta ray pad and its awersome.

  • @jcuttem1 I'm thinking about getting one but it's $40 so I want to be sure it is worth it. I've been just using one of those foam tube-like cushions that wrap around the bar.

  • Do they have a smith machine there? I can do squats completely unassisted by my hands with a smith and go deep.

  • Do you feel the manta ray puts the load too far up on your neck, rather than on your traps? Because the bar looks awfully far up on your neck. How does the load feel? And your neck?

  • @vindactive You can adjust the Manta Ray. I personally find that the "natural" position of the Manta pushes my torso a bit forward, so I simply adjust it to go lower on my traps. As for how the load feels, it feels like a normal squat in every way. When I train without the Manta, I can do the same amount of weight. Depending on the position of the Manta, it will either put slight pressure on the neck, or (in my case), none at all. I hope this effectively answers your questions.

  • @TheBukkakeTsunami Yes, thanks. I bought the manta ray and i'm very impressed by how light it makes the bar feel on your shoulders/traps. Though my quads still get the same feeling and sensation as usual, the sensation of "weight" on my traps/shoulders has been cut in half - at least. This makes it easier to focus on my glutes/quads/form/intensity/focus. I also place it a bit backwards on my traps, rather than forward. I don't feel it on my neck at all. I'll never squat without it after 2 uses

  • The Manta Ray is the best invention to tackle a squat. I've never heard anyone call it a P-Pad.

  • As gay as the music on this video is, I'm willing to bet this dude is listening to something even gayer on his ipod!

  • get rid of that peice of shit and do some zercher squats

  • @MajorKonig49 He probably doesn't even know what they are.

  • oh and this dude is a tool...wait while I fix my headphones....hahaha

  • Westside elite powerlifters use the manta ray to overload the upper back. I guess you mean that Dave Tate and Jim Wendler are pussies?? Idiot...

  • Yeah I think thats what he said...Dave Tate is a pussy -_-

  • at my gym we call the manta ray's the P-Pad.. lol (standing for pussy pad, discribeing the pussies who cant stand slight pain on the shoulders.)

and why do you think we build our traps? for squats!

  • The problem here is not the Mantra ray its the belt.. why? Develop faulty patern for real life. Maybe for maximal load on competition. Anyway, keep training and improving my friend!

  • haslumfighters you are right but as a trainer for the last 20 years I dint saw any elit athlete without severe inuries and overuse of body and articulations. For normal people who want to preserve vertebras and dissipate the pressure and not developing a buffalo mound on the back ( I saw one so big in a camp yark!!!)... good device , very confortable. But the exercise here is not realy a good one, nor a lunges, nor a split squat, something like a overcharge split something???

  • Bought a manta-ray and the sting ray and would not be without them. It makes the load more comfortable, its position consistent and, therefore, allows you to concentrate on the form better.

  • That's a split squat, not a lunge, but nice try.

  • There is no need for Manta Ray. Why can the world elite in powerlifting and weightlifting squat perfectly without this. The slight pain goes away after a few sessions. Seems like you are a dedicated person. Take a closer look at how powerlifters and weightlifters train, and you will become much stronger and fitter:) Have a nice day.

  • It sure is supposed to be! I do my best every day I train and it is not until I see the vid that I know how good or bad my technique is. There is always room for improvement but if you waited for everything in life to be perfect - you would never take any action. I put every vid up and I'm happy for all feedback - my attitude and training grows from it. Thanks for contributing. I weight 71 kg at the moment - was 68 kg in that video. Cheers,

  • I thought your thigh was suppose to be parallel to the ground, how much do you weigh anyway?

  • dude, u sux!!!!!
