One thing that DLR could not bring to VH was the guitar playing ability that Sammy obviously has. Not that Eddie needed help, but that second guitar was an added dimension to the band in the studio and on stage.

Hey! This is from Van Halen's 1986 concert film "Live Without A Net". I still have it on VHS! Speaking of concerts. When Van Halen finally release there album in 2012 and go on tour with Dave again, i wonder what Sammy era songs he's gonna sing? Boy oh boy, I can't wait!!!!

But Eddie can't write a tune as good as Sammy. They had a bunch of songs that weren't even close to being finished. Sammy came in finished the tunes and they sold the most albums ever! That's a fact.

we quickly forget that Sammy was a pretty fuckin' decent guitar player in his own right before he ever joined VH. He always said that Eddie had taught him "some tricks to better playing". I can only imagine where he would be these days - and I mean both of them!

1) Hagar's Era was just not as good as Mr.Lee Roth's, BUT this here is pretty incredible and badass haha

@niv06290 I saw them in the mid-90's with a preconceived notion that they would suck and they blew me away. Sammy was fantastic and they seemed to get along great--perhaps one of the best concerts I have ever gone to. I see the recent videos of their band and it is almost embarrassing to watch.
