@LennonMeringuePie I heard that Dustin Hoffman told Paul that he couldn't write a story, and Paul said give me anything to write a song about. Dustin gave him a magazine that had Picassos Last Words and a story about his death I just did a project on Picasso and his art... and I got an A and I included this story!!
@aerosmithofficial3 Yes, this is recalled in an interview with Hoffman, which can be heard on the Band on the Run 25th anniversary bonus CD. (A must-have for serious McCartney fans)

Summer of 1975, My friend and I drove up the coast from Southern California to Northern California - Big Sur, Monterey, San Francisco - in her VW van, all the while listening to this tape and taking bong hits. We were 18 and the world was ours .
I find this song quite moving because it's like Picasso on his bed, in his near death state, hallucinating and having flashbacks of his past. Like that weird nonsensical dream you get when you have a really high temperature.
While having dinner with Paul McCartney, Dustin Hoffman told the story of the death of Pablo Picasso and his famous last words, "Drink to me, drink to my health. You know I can't drink anymore." Paul had a guitar with him and immediately played an impromptu chord progression while singing the quote. Thus, "Picasso's Last Words", one of the highlights of the "Band On The Run" album, was made.
In 1973 (Year Picaso Died)at cannes film festival, (hoffman had just done a film Pappilon) Paul Mcartney was there for the Soundtrack on Live and Let die, And dustin Betted Paul that he could"nt make a song of Picaso last words (Drink to Me Drink to my Health)
I have always heard this about the song's creation: On a dare by Dustin Hoffman for Paul to write a song from one line (Picasso's alleged dying words, "Drink to Me, Drink to My Health") Paul did, and the song was born. If I remember correctly, Dustin was in Lagos, Nigeria filming Papillon while Wings was there recording. Yours sound good too, mmmm, now I wonder which is true. Time for me to start surfing. Great song regardless.

Super , from 1:57 min you can hear the Korg Minipops 7 Rhythm Machine.
Beautyfull !! Jean Michel Jarre used this unit too in 1976 during recording his Oxygene album.
This is an excellent Mc Cartney song , I love it !!!! ++++++
