No, this is not the Biellmann spin. The Biellmann spin is a one-foot spin while holding the other foot extended over and behind the head, forming a teardrop shape with the body. It would be better for you to enjoy figure skating if you know some basics. Hope this helps.

well, you cant blame them... when shizuka iconized the Ina Bauer move, the Japanese people all called the move the "shizuka way" or something like that, so you see, you cant really blame them....

am3ri3s, i named it the "Arakawa' after Shizuka did her's with incredible difficulties noted and flexibility that no one else can do, even if Mirai is almost to the level of Shizuka's. It made me like the 'original' ina bauer version even less. I like to say that Shizuka's version is very scientifically unique.

an3ri3e I know, you are right, but I think they shouldn't try to blame Yu Na Kim for the same reason, other than I think her camel is much better than that of Chouinard. yet I am starting to see people being riled when they feel that Yu Na Kim is not entitled to the right to have her spin classified as uniquely of her own. People can do whatever they want by naming the camel as "YuNa Camel".

The Biellman Spin got its name because Denise was the first person to perform it regularly. The spin had no name before that. The Harding Camel already has a name, and was performed regularly by Tonya, Josie and others before Yu-Na, even if Yu-Na does it the best. You can't just take the name of a move away from someone and give it to someone else! Should we could rename the triple Axel the triple Mao or the Triple Midori?

As I repeat this like, a thousand times, the name itself has never been officially changed to 'Yuna Camel', although my personal position would be that there wouldn't be any problems if they called it so, same as the Denise Biellmann wasn't the first to execute the Biellmann spin, or Caroline Zhang with the pearl spin

Skaters like Harding and Josee certainly did do a 'bent leg layover camel'. But personally I don't find it insulting to call Yuna's signature spin the 'Yuna Camel' because hers is more perpendicular to the ice, and because she used it all through her career.

Whatever. Biellmann made the move her TRADEMARK. I don't see Yu-Na's broken camel as a trademark at all, and as Justine4FS pointed out, CaroZ and Mao have much more beautiful variants of the spin to begin with. Yu-Na as the jumps, the speed, the confidence and presentation, but you have to be kidding yourselves if you think SPINS are Yu-Na's best selling point (she does maximize the levels, but its nowhere close to what CaroZ/Mirai/Yukari/Alyssa/Mao achieve).

Actually, the best variations of the broken camel were executed by Caroline Zhang and Mao Asada. They were able to bring their arms behind their shoulders in a position similar to the one executed in a classical lauback. Very difficult variation and beautiful to look at. All the other skaters put their arms over the chest, to the side or in a 'Hamilton camel' position - it's easier to keep the balance this way.
