@fergus247 Yes, he's also a great director. not the best, but damn good. my only point is that actors and directors get too much credit for what ends up on the screen.
most directors don't write and the actors are reciting and reacting to what's in the script. By the way, Tarantino would just change the line.

Wrong. The vast majority of (Muslim) Moors who occupied Sicily were gradually expelled after the Norman conquest of the island in the 11th century. Some stayed behind, converting to Christianity and marrying Christians to blend in, but by and large Sicilians are descended from ancient (and Byzantine) Greeks, Romans, and the Normans, who were Norsemen related to the Vikings of Scandinavia. People forget that Sicily was a Greek island much longer than it was anything else.

Well, according to all of mankind's shared biological history, we are all out of Africa, but that was well before even the Neolithic Age (i.e. Stone Age), which gave human populations plenty of time to develop new phenotypes through mutation. I'm part Sicilian. Does that mean there's a Moor / Berber in my family tree somewhere? Probably. More likely I'm related to a Greek or ancient Roman, though, and especially a Norman conquerer from northern Europe.

@SonofBrunhilde Well, clearly you don't know who the Normans were. These are the same Germanic people who settled in northern France, England, and southern Italy during the High Middle Ages. Of course, they came in limited numbers, but they left an imprint in areas across Western Europe. Most Sicilians could probably trace their bloodlines back to ancient Greek settlers, though. Syracuse, after all, was one of the greatest Greek cities of antiquity, the home of the great inventor Archimedes.

Many Italians and Spanish people have around 2.whatever percent of african blood.
keep in mind a lot of the moors were north africans. Google image north africans.
Not Sub Saharan blacks.
In southern Italy its also closer to the equator. More Mediterranean.
I love having darker hair and tanning light olive skin. I tan nicely.

@RobertoCalcio Well, if we go by the hard evidence, the most Negroid native European population are the Portuguese at 4.4%. Sicilians are 2.5%. However English people, maybe like good ole Dennis Hopper, are 1%. So, I guess it's at least a little bit unfair to focus on only one population. Mexicans, who aren't regarded as being of Negro descent, usually test at between 5-10%. Puerto Ricans obviously have a considerable amount of black, as well as the vast majority of Latin Americans and Arabs.

Its pretty obvious even without DNA testing that bloodlines got mixed when the moors (northern African black people) landed and conquered the country in 831 AD. At the time the average Sicilian was a blond haired blue eyed white person. After the moor occupation, That was no longer the case and the physical characteristics of large numbers of white/black interracial childbirths exist in the country to this day. It may also explain most Sicilians distaste for black people.

@KRDMerc Sicilians were never blonde/Norse, etc. Only in later centuries was there Norman influence. The Maghrib of today is different than the Maghrib of a thousand years ago. Saracens held at least parts of Iberia for 800 years, yet Spaniards don't look a bit Negro, and their DNA shows only a slight trace of actual Negro mtDNA genetic markers. Now with a country like Puerto Rico, it's obviously different, where three very different races did truly blend into one basic type.
