  • Suicide grip come on Derek you gonna snap you legs and mushroom tip up

  • "aw what a bitch it doesnt count cuz his form wasnt perfect, now if youll excuse me im going to go enjoy the lotion my mommy brought home today and later ill be back to talk shit to people who are far more talented/amazing than i am because i have nothing better to do in my sorry life"- typical response to a video like this

  • I don't know why eveyone goes on about his ''suicide grip'' I for one prefere that grip and use it alot in bench press and shoulder press and find that i feel stronger using it as it engages my triceps abit more, maybe it's just a personal thing but I wouldn't say it is dangerous at all as long as your paying attention to what your doing.

  • DUDE using that suicide grip freaks me out.. feels like the weight is gonna fall on him! Respect bro awesome lift!

  • haters....haters...haters....look at his arms then look at yours. look at the weight hes doing, then look at yours see the HUGE difference? your still hating, hes still lifting more than you could in your dreams.

  • well take the weights that can cause an accident

  • i did 165lbs (75kg) for 5 reps today and i thought I was fuckin tough and strong.... guess what. I FAIL.

  • @dan7edan7e I'll be doing 50kg lol so you pwn me at least!

  • that's a steep incline bench, bro

  • n his feet is not even on the ground -.- pure delts power

  • He can almost press as much as me! Wow, I give him props.

  • @ElRancholo2 lol

  • Good lifting....not like the bal headed juice heads that are supposedly using 405 for 6 reps and the plates are those alloy metal things they use for props in the movies and in adds that are 40 to 60% of the real plates but clank and rattle like the real thing.

    Good lifting derek!

  • im 14 i dead lift 300 is that good for my age?

  • @1strawberryable

impressive. but not good for you at that age .

  • @XBOYZ45 why not?????

  • saw a fellow in 1964 at Muscle beach Joel Prezant at 6 feet and 250 pounds do 315 for 2 reps and he lowered it to his upper chest. That was back in the preroid era.

  • This is actually footage of him squatting

  • I fucking hate all of you "perfect form" faggots. None of you lift heavy fucking weight because if you did, you would know that at some point, 100 percent perfect form, doesn't mean shit. Fuck you, suck my dick. Lift actual weights you fucking keyboard warriors.

  • @TUI518 Form is everything when lifting weights... If your form is wrong for squatting, have fun with a blown out knee. And what they were getting at was his angle... he almost made it an incline press, not a military press.

  • @ExitWoundz1 Hey motherfucker. Fuck off.

  • @TUI518 Um, ok. If you don't want other people's opinion, (which actually makes sense) then don't give others your shitty thoughts that make no sense.... You obviously don't work out, or you don't know wtf you're doing while working out if you think form is useless. I bet your max for bench press is what? 90 lbs?...

  • @ExitWoundz1 Motherfucking internet warrior. Holy fuck. Go back and read my original comment cocksucker. I never said form was useless. I said, when lifting heavy heavy fucking weight, 100 percent perfect form, is not needed. Look at every single video on the internet, where big guys are lifting big weights. None of them have 'perfect' form. Now, you little cocksucker, please..make a fucking video of you doing 385 seated shoulder press. Then i'll allow your faggot ass to bitch.

  • @TUI518 And did I say you need 100% form? No. All I said was good form was needed. I never was like "OMG! YOU NEED 100% FORM YOU DUMBASS" So get off my nuts on that. It's A) better so you don't screw yourself over, and B) just helps make a workout more beneficial by not cheating.. all I was getting at, rage a little more please.

  • @ExitWoundz1 So then why the fuck did you argue with me to begin with?! You fucking idiot, your talking yourself into circles. Shut the fuck up, peanut.

  • @TUI518 Why is the "peanut" argueing with you? To tell you that you're a moron that doesn't know how to work out properly. Read what am I telling you... it's good to have good form, or else you're a complete tool that doesn't know wtf he's doing. Please, tell me how I'm wrong. I don't believe I'm wrong on that at all.... Go see a personal trainer or something, and learn how to workout properly WITHOUT looking like the biggest dumbass in the gym. I'm done... Morons on the internet these days =/

  • @TUI518 damn, talk about a keyboard warrior.

  • @TUI518 he is using perfect form, for lifiting heavy weights.

  • @rookmang yeah hypertrophy is a myth...what an ignorant comment.

  • ah this is shit , 2 times , better move 70 kg and do maybe 8 reps ,, avirederci

  • @MsTysonking He's a powerlifter, it's not about reps kid. Back to the text book for you.

  • @MsTysonking and you are stupid because he is a strong athlete and well known all over the world...and you are...... no one, go back to your gay gym XD

  • He is shoulder pressing my squat. I need to step it up!

  • That type of exercise should be performed inside the power rack with the pins above the legs or just below chest elevation, dropping such weight it will put you out for a long time mr strong not smart man.

  • I feel like that is really risky! if he dumps the bar its going to land in his lap!! anyone else feel that way too?

  • @furtrapper1797 No doubt the shoulder press leaves you vulnerable to gravity taking control when you don't want it to. That being said, that's true for squat, deadlift, bench, any exercise where a slip could end with the bar on top of you in some fashion. Derek's training for strongman competitions require him to lift weights (heavy ones at that!), and, like all other lifters, he has decided to do it even with the risk. Also: Spotter.

  • super human indeed

  • I feel as strong as a flipper baby when I watch this dude.

  • sticking point. i still give props automatically to any of these guys moving anything like this kind of weight. but i still agree on the incline bench comments. as opposed to shoulder presses.

  • thats it! this is the SECOND time. stop doing incline bench presses and naming them shoulder presses. dammit

  • Alpha Male.

  • @FaizanSyed13

    seems like you do haha

  • Gotta love Anadrol, it does wonders for the strength :)

  • yeah but look how tiny his calves are lol

  • @FaizanSyed13 You spelled "faggot" wrong

  • @FaizanSyed13

Bodybuilding, powerlifting, Olympic lifting and strongman are different styles of weightlifting - the difference being that Bodybuilders don't train for performance, but for looks - hence why they're seen as the pansies of the weightlifting world, and why I corrected you.

  • @FaizanSyed13 No-one's contesting that not wrapping your thumb around the bar will increase the risk of dropping the weight - but it's not the cause of ALL bench press accidents, Derek's not a bodybuilder, and he has a wife (or a fiancée), so he's not a "fagget" (have you noticed that you've been spelling it wrong by the way?).

Get your facts right before you post such an ill-informed comment, and maybe little old dumbass here won't correct you

  • @FaizanSyed13 if theres no need to reply then why you fucking post stupid shit you know people gonna reply to? i can reply if i want you little bitch, i dont know shit? you're the one trying to tell world class lifters how to lift, who are you to tell him you stupid fuck. and why you keep talking about the benchpress? last time i checked this was shoulder press dumbbass.

  • im not too upset except for the fact that his ohp is 20lbs heavier than my dl. i wish i was 300lbs in stead of 165

  • @FaizanSyed13 yeah, thats why they are fucking huge. yeah it must not be working right? and derek is a strongman. the 3rd strongest man in the world, i think he knows what he is doing.

  • Breeaaaathe

  • @FaizanSyed13 *Strongman*

And this "fagget" (is that a French word?) could rip you in half with his pinky - I think you can let him decide what he does with his thumbs

  • 1. this is a sholder press not an incline bench wtf r u ppl talking about? look carefully at his form and his back, also the incline on his bench was set maybe by himself for it to hit his shuolders more than in upper pecs so stop bitching and watch the vid, also branch warren is a fucking beast and his shoulders are like bowling balls, so stfu and give respect where respect is due.

  • This is more like an incline bench, he's using his pecs more than his shoulders. This is much harder for me than shoulder press because I can use my legs to give me a good push for the rep.

  • not saying that 385 isnt a lot... just wondering if he has ever done more? Because the other day i saw a russian lifter who got 425 for 2 standing up which is harder sitting down when you can push against the seat.

  • @startingover101 i'd argue that standing is easier, but that's me

  • @startingover101 Not always. Strongmen arwe allowed to use leg drive through the floor when hitting this exercise standing. With added leg drive for extra momentum, I would say seated is harder. My lifts respect that too 245 standing, only 190 seated. I also belt myself to the chair to help restrict "cheating"

  • Freakin' awesome man.

  • Nice 1.5 reps fat shit, my mama could whip yo ass... nice titties muchacha

  • @KingHawa i bet you can do that right?

  • @steriods4champions Nahhh I said my momma could do dat. what are ya ignrent?

  • @KingHawa he's the 3rd strongest man in the world stupid. those arent "titties" he could crush you with one hand you beaner

  • @steriods4champions Those are some big fat ass titties... hell my grandmama could whoop this fat ass whiteboy

  • @KingHawa jealous little cunt. you're pathetic

  • @KingHawa you cant even rep this once "muchacha"

  • @XxAlfedxX How do you know alfed? do you know me alfed? have we met before, get off poundstones jock and live your own life. good day

  • Like a boss

  • that looked like incline bench press to me. correct me if im wrong, nd tell me why.

  • @Nightshadow272 Incline bench is around a 45 degree angle, shoulder press is sitting straight up, its just the way you're seated that changes what muscles get worked, so this is a shoulder press

  • @Nightshadow272 yes you are wrong, because it was on a 90 degree angle seat. sure maybe he arched his back a little bit and their was some upper chest involved but it was no where near as much involved as it would be if he were to sit in an inclinced seat.

  • Now, those are some strong shoulders!!! o.O

  • Great power.

  • This man is a fucking BEAST!!

  • this is impressive but you see how when he stops breathing he almost losses it great set though!

  • looks mo lyk incline bench

  • Love the folks who suggest this lift isn't impressive. Overall, as an ATHLETE, Poundstone crushes 99 percent of today's pro bodybuilders. He'd deadlift, press and squat physique competitors out the door. Sure, some might better him on some exercises, but as has been mentioned, Poundstone if functional strength and power.

And I am not disrespecting bodybuilders, either. I began my weight training life as one, but let's get real ...

  • I am surprised he didn't press that inside of a rack. I know I would have if I was pressing that much weight...

  • he can shoulder press more than i can deadlift/squat...FML =(

  • @LphiESteve haha same your not alone

  • @LphiESteve he shoulder pressed my max squat. im in the same boat as you. except i got a shittier seat in that boat.

  • @LphiESteve Yeah it wouldnt be the same if you did steroids as well

  • @LphiESteve with the huge difference that he is sitting and not touching his chest and couldn't even do one rep entirely alone

  • @MutsuKazuma Maybe you should post a video to show him how it's done? I bet a guy like you can bang out 10-12 reps of this easy yeah?

  • @jalidav1 no one can bang out 12 reps of this weight, and I can't since I don't look liek some fuckin faggot that is an overstuffed pinata filled with roids from head to toe you have no idea of training properly it seems so shut the fuck up get some knowledge and come back when you can at least squat twice your bodyweight until then keep your opinion to yourself you worm

  • @MutsuKazuma Imediately you assume I can't already squat twice my body weight, I was merely commenting on your obvious expertise which has earned you the right to critique one of the strongest men on the planet, you must be truly epic in all your glory.....LOL and also from the two sentences I posted you have deduced I have no training knowledge whatsoever, your psychic powers clearly surpass your god like superhuman physical abilty, your mother must be proud

  • @LphiESteve well look at him he's a monster

  • @LphiESteve Same =/

  • 185 for me :(

  • @Moparfan1995 , Bodybuilder Branch Warren can shoulder press 405 for reps, and he's only a bodybuilder.

  • @RJORRIS But Branches form is terrible when he's doing it. He turns what is suppose to be a shoulder press into an incline bench.

  • @spawn039 , Yea his form sucks, but even if Branch used correct form, he'd still be putting up more than Poundstone...

  • @RJORRIS That is probably true but we won't know for sure unless Branch does some real shoulder presses. Derek is still functionally stronger than Branch though.

  • @spawn039 and he jumps alot and doesnt lock out, not that anything is wrong with that but you cannot say he can do more than derrick

  • @thegamexxx1234 Never said e could. Reread bud.

  • @spawn039 naw i'm just agreeing with you I assume that was your rebuttle to whoever you responded to

  • @thegamexxx1234 Oh ok I read wrong then lol. Branch is strong no doubt but his form is questionable on a lot of lifts. Not to mention he's a dick, or so people say.

  • @spawn039 branch is top 5 at the olympia and arnold, questioning his form is like telling kobe bryant how to play basketball

  • @spawn039 true, but i saw a video of him training in this nicer gym for gasp and he did 315 shoulder presses strict

  • @steriods4champions And I bet if Branch was doing an actual shoulder press with 385lbs like Derek, he wouldn't be doing much better.

  • @spawn039 idk. im a huge fan of poundstone. but im also a big fan of branch. i guess since there is no actual video of branch doing this weight or more, i gotta give it to poundstone.

  • @spawn039 Branches form ain't terrible.

  • @spawn039 ur supposed to have a few degrees of ark like maybe 15-20 away from vertical

  • @fxb4 Do you know who Branch is? Have you watched his seated shoulder?

  • Comment removed

  • that is some extremely impressive shit!!!! i've been lighting weights for about 7 years and can get 200 up but only for a few reps this guys doing almost double that!!!!!! fuckin A dude

  • @Ludichris8531 Yup, they measured Mark Phillipi doing the truck pull and discovered that his breathing was really quite close to normal- pretty much a large number of shallow breaths, rather than many deep breaths.

  • lol an incline benchpress of 80 degrees, please stop the bs. This is an excellent shoulder press!

  • more like an incline bp huh

    still

  • Absolutely unbelievable. Almost 3 times as much as I max out D=

  • beast

  • this looks more like an incline bench press but its still fucking impressive

  • @arsenalmanic ur a fuckin moron I just saw Kevin at my least show he's like 190 def not in lifting shapre However he did do it back in that day..Not now tho...No fuckin way

  • do YOUTUBE COM /

    then the link

  • i just cant understand why this guy does not breath, hes so strong but i never see him breathing out on pressing exercises

  • @muzimuzi The more advanced a lifter is the less they can breathe during a set in order to sustain the pressure in their body to move more more weight more times. He wouldn't get as many reps if he breathed throughout the set like a novice/intermediate would need to do because of stamina issue..Think anaerobically

  • @BJGally Yea but a 100yard sprinter does it fast and smooth so he can hold his breath for10-12 seconds - on this set it took him more than that and it doesnt look like hes holding it on pourpse.. you can watch Stan efferding's vids with way higher weights for pushing excersises and he gets his breath out and smooth. so IDK but i heard your argument before from some1 else.

  • BEAST!

  • beast

  • beast

  • now thats strong!

  • that grip makes me nervous

  • god damn dude.. thats like my squat right there lol

  • FREAK-O-NATURE! AWESOME

  • Beast

  • Why do you grip the bar like that? It's really dangerous.

  • @TheFelix187 you actually can press more using that grip, but the consequence is that it isn't as safe.

  • good lifts man, keep it going?

  • i do that same grip :)

  • Why on earth would you not use a closed grip when you have that much weight directly over head?

  • was expecting more i must say! its gotta be his weakest exercise. There are bodybuilders that can press more than that!

  • @trinity9011 whoo?

  • @valdigurka kevin levrone, ronnie coleman, paco bauista, johnie jackson, to name a few. its really not a crazy amount of weight for a world class strongman

  • @trinity9011 too bad half of those guys are body builders. body builders have mass and cuts but are bout useless trying to do any strongman moves

  • @str94100 thats the whole point of my comment...... btw they are all bodybuilders

  • @trinity9011 i realize but i give coleman a bit of credit for holding a leg press world record. not much but some

  • @str94100 Riku Kiri did 1500 kg in the Leg Press, if I remember well. But Ronnie is a strong motherfucker too, indeed

  • @trinity9011 they cant to this sitting down!

  • @valdigurka they can do it standing, seated, underwater, upside down....

  • @trinity9011 can i have a video prrof?

  • @valdigurka for the underwater vid just contact your local PADI rep they will be happy to oblige you my friend ;)

  • @trinity9011 i dotn care about some underwater stuff.

show me a vid of some bodybuilder pressing more wieght

  • @valdigurka yeah that was a joke mate! search for kevin levrone shoulder press on here, back when he was competing he would regularly do 4 plates a side for 8 reps

  • @trinity9011 do u have a vid?

  • @trinity9011 levrone does it on a smith machine u fucking idiot

  • @tommyboymj just cause you seen one video of him doing it on a smith doesnt mean thats all he does YOU fucking ignorant cunt STFU little bitch

  • @trinity9011 levrone is black lmao

  • @tommyboymj whats that got to do with it?

  • @valdigurka There are actually a number of BBs who can seated military press more than poundstone can. Poundstone is a strongman, so military pressing a large amount of weight for a lot of reps doesn't necessarily matter. Branch warren and evan centopani can do more than poundstone on this exercise. I know for a fact that Branch can go up to about 405 for 6 reps. But poundstone would own them both in a tire fliping contest.

  • @mylesman99 whaat? shoulder power is one of the main thing in strongman

  • @trinity9011 But bodybuilders do not use that range of motion. They down the weight just uintil it reaches the chin.

  • @rockSldBrute you get under the bar and do it, idiot

  • so the spotter help him lift 385 with 1 finger? I WISH I COULD DO THAT

  • body builders are only week leading leading up to a competition as they lose the most amountss of fluids possible etc...

  • suicide grips are crazy dangerous i dont like them.

  • Wow! thats some good power by Derek Poundstone. I've been training for 11 years now and can shoulder press 315 for 8 reps (which is acceptable). It takes a lot of time and dedication to get to that point, period. I'm still not to where im supposed to be, it takes eating, sleep and protein intake to get there.

  • greg kovacs in a video i saw on youtube does 5 plates on each arm hammer strength, levrone 4 plates on a smith rack....poundstone gets 3 reps with 5 plates on bench....levrone,kai green, rogert burneika just to name a few do have done more with 5.Anyone who thinks bodybuilders can lift heavy are ignorant.Still love WSM better ;)

  • check out the evan centopani training with derek on muscular development. he presses this weight, barbell, for reps.

  • Also you have to remember that pound stone also, does a lot of pressing of logs and training using strongman gear, he inst gust doing the same exercises like body-builders, if he solely used the gym gear for training he would be doing a lot more.

  • whats the big deal, ive seen bodybuilders do more than that

  • are you nuts? name a bodybuilder that can lift that weight

  • markus rühl?!

  • i doubt it, i have to see that.besides you cant compare a bodybuilder with a strongman the bodybuilder is only muscles but the strongman is power

  • nonsense, bodybuilder is only muscles? thats a real generalization as there are many strong bodybuilders, but obviously maximum strength isnt the goal of a bodybuilder.

levrone, ronnie coleman, branch warren, markus ruhl and a few others could probably shoulder press this weight (at their strongest). but that doesn't meen they would do well in a strongman competition which has a big technique component too (raw power isnt enough).

  • kevin levrone- had a strongman powerlifting background and shoulder presses more than poundstone is doing here. and markus rhul does more than this. im not trying to say bodybuilders are stronger than strongmen because they are not. i was just pointing out that this weight was not that impressive

  • i dont belive that a bodybuiler can shoulder press more that poundstone, because seated this is heavier weight that i have see in shoulder press

  • i dont belive that a bodybuiler can shoulder press more that poundstone, because seated this is heavier weight that i have see in shoulder press

  • if you can give the link of the videos that you said i would appreciate it

  • The big deal, is that he actually lifted 385lbs, whereas many of the bodybuilders make bullshit strength claims, and can't do nearly what they're supposedly able to throw around.

  • what the hell....., he should just go around the mall hitting people, i mean for reals what the hell are they gonna do about it?

  • Shoot him in the face?

    Nice lift.
