  • Sealer under dye? I thought dye was supposed to penetrate the wood.  Wouldn't even a thin coat of sealer prevent penetration and absorption?

  • @workkrage yes , in this case we are using the shellac as a prestain or blotch control , to prevent it from absorbing unevenly, the shellac is used very thin, to help equilize the surface of the owwd so it will dye or stain evenly.. and not blotch
