i have a lot of firehose, I was wondering if i could use it to create a gravity dredge taht was fed into my sluice. Since it doesn't have riffles, I'd need it to be sluiced, but i still like the idea of having a vacuum with me since i work in areas of large drops in altitude. any thoughts on this before i go dragging out my fire hose?
I have a tool that creates very high vacuum underwater, much higher than any small dredge now being used to look for Placer Gold, I am looking to talk to someone with experience in this area. You can see the tool if you do a search for "Barton abrasive removal tool" where you will see it being used to vacuum fine solids (garnet and expended media) from water filled tanks. email if interested placergolddredge@yahoo.com

I am so sorry that I never checked my messages but I am impressed with your system that you built using that dredging nozzle and the 80 feet of white flexible piping. I never thought about building one that used the other end of the hose to harness the pressure for a venturi effect nozzle system. By the way, that was a great video that you did. First rate! ron
There is no jet. Just a big piece of non perferated Big-O pipe. I actually duct taped 2 pieces together and you can see that, but that can let air into the system, which is bad. Drop rate is important and you can find out more by Googleing Gravity Dredging for placer gold to know more. 2.5" pipe means that you will spend a lot of time hand classifying the material that you will suck up . . . I know, I tried that size first. ;)
I have started getting the material to build a gravity dredge myself. I have 100 feet of 2.5" dredge hose. I was wondering if you ever tried collapsable hose for trasporting the water down to the jet. How many feet drop do you have in the video and what diameter hose are you using and length?

@9DragonMaster that sounds like a good idea. I think I'll do the same but with plastic tubing. How long is the hose?
