It's not "one" issue. The core of Conservatism is FREEDOM and SMALL GOVERNMENT. Socialists are the exact opposite of these two values. If you do not believe in firearms ownership then you cannot possibly believe in freedom. Further by allowing government to register firearms, then you believe in Big Government controlling all aspect of any freedoms "granted". There is no middle ground here.
