  • After listening to the covers of Sepultura and As I Lid Dying of Screaming For Vengeance and You've Got Another Thing Comin', I though I'd never listen a good cover of a Priest's song... But this one rocks!

  • @Abeloidee Yea I hear ya. They got some real shitty covers of great songs like these. New bands ruin great songs like these. But thank god Saxon was around in the Priest days and they can do a mean cover!!!!

  • This is one fkn awesome cover of this song!

  • saxon are good but they could have done a bit more than a straight version, its basically sounds like hes standing in for Rob

  • SAXON kicks ass, we all know that, but NOBODY does this like the mighty JUDAS PRIEST !!!

  • ALL HAIL SAXON PRIEST !!!

  • very good!

a hymn for our self destructing-era in our HOLY YOUTH!!!

  • the best fuckin cover ever........

  • The drumintro doesnt fit at all, haha! But we still love it that way!

  • i usually am not a big fan of bands covering other bands music. this is great though. rock on!

  • Great cover buy a great band!!

  • Its better then the original jesus love this!

  • Hmm... Is the beggining of this is Painkiller speeded up 2x?

  • @morsik92

That's what I thought too! Hahahaha

  • I love Priest and I love Saxon. This is a bloody good cover version!

  • Damned i klicked dislike, sorry.. Thumbs up if you think i'am clumsy bit stilla metalhead.

  • Saxon Priest!.

  • This is my favourite JP cover ever; just as good as the original - if not better. Biff's voice's just perfect for the song.

  • this is a nice job, wtg Saxon. 2 thumbs up.

  • Better than the original by Judas Priest!

  • @Gforce479 I respectfully disagree, but it's still fucking kick ass. \m/

  • I beliebe the vocals of saxons pete sounds even better than rob halford, anyway I love this cover I thinkits sounds great,I want more Saxon metal-covers! just fantastic!

  • i like Saxon but no one does it like Priest!

  • @shawndixon13 - I totally agree all the way!

  • @shawndixon13 Wouldn't be a good cover then though... Bands that try to immitate something someone else did always sounds wrong...

  • Biff is my God !!!

  • Saxon and Priest I always thought had a lot in common: Classic British pioneers of metal - with that Anthemic, street-wise working-class-made-good background and "fight against the odds" attitude. Both have written hymns to metal music, motorcycles and leather :-)

  • ARRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH

  • 'And the bands played on' is on of the best songs ever made!

  • @xReIDNaX Amen.

  • guitar sounds good, but the singer cant beat Rob

  • biffs voice is so good. sounds like ian gillan and udo combined.

  • No offense to Judas Priest, but I like this cover better than the original!

  • @HeavyIronMetalMaiden same here dude! that amazingly fast double pedal blast beat intro set the mood to the song!

  • @diazonia896 Fuck yeah!

  • Heavy as Hell.

  • Outstanding cover! Saxon does this song justice.

  • I definitely had Another thing Coming when i clicked on this song! What a kick ass cover!

  • You've got ...to be F kidding me. what an awesome cover as good as the original. Love both JP and Saxon, I wish Saxon could do a cover of all the Priest songs from the late 70 and early 80s all the way till Ram It Down, Painkiller might be too much for them.

  • This song brought shivers on me spine.. Very well covered

  • I love it!

Judas Priest - The band that made metal heavier than ever before.

Saxon - Another legendary example of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal era.

This song is just one of the many examples of how great Judas Priest and all of metal is. And Saxon has complemented it even more with their amazong cover.

I don't think anyone could ever cover this song as well as they have.

  • 0:00 - 0:07 EPIC INTRO TO THE SONG!!

i wonder if anyone honestly thinks this version is actually better than the original...although judas priest totally nail it when they sing it live these days.

  • this is my favourite priest song, great cover!

  • cool!!! very cool!!!!!!

  • Saxon is just 1 of those bands that have been there done that. They stand alone never needing to prove how awesome they are!!! 1 of the best!!

  • Hehehe I would like Manowar to cover this song too..

Althought some regard to this song as a way too commercialized, I think it´s one of the most powerfull songs in the world of heavy metal, just enjoy it and don´t take care about anything else!

  • 2:30; that dude has some long ass arms lol

  • Hell yeah! Gotta love Saxon!!! \m/

  • Holy shit the fuckin drumer is awesome!

  • Saxon are just awesome.

  • judas priest will alwas be my fave band but never really liked this track(way commercialised) but hearing saxon put their slant on it makes me realise that this song paved the way for a million judas fans that otherwise wouldnt have been

  • 0:55, thought that was Dave Mustaine on the far left. lololol

  • They brought this song to perfection!

  • great cover!!!!!!!

  • what is the line up on this (Who's on drums?)

  • These pictures made me think how Rob Halford looks like a Village People member.

  • One thing we could say about Saxon and Judas Priest. They're both magnificent british heavy metal bands, new wave of brithish heavy metal etc. But when we hear Halford or Biff singing "I'm young and kinda proud" well I'm saying: "boys look in the mirror". :D

  • Gods covering Gods... this is metal overload!!!!

  • Killer guitar tone.

  • I think that singer need more power... but anyway, great cover!

  • Epic cover, by an epic band

  • Saxon do know how to rock!

  • Wicked cover! The best I've heard ever! (And I've heard waaaaay too many! Please, stop making them!)

  • The jealous of JP 'cos saxon's cover is shit

  • can anyone recommend any SAXON songs that i should check out?

  • @TichfaceXO Albums: "Wheels Of Steel", "Strong Arm Of The Law" and "Denim And Leather" those you have to listen, they are classics \,,/

  • @ThomaTo66 and into the labyrinth. that's easily their best since the early 80s

  • @ThomaTo66 Fuck Yeah!! See my vids of SAXON live in Chile... ;)

  • @TichfaceXO

And the bands played one,Princess of the night,Strangers in the night,Crusader

  • @TichfaceXO they are best known for Princess of the night, personally like Crusader, probably cause I saw them play with Accept on that tour.

  • @TichfaceXO Crusader! Live to Rock!

  • @TichfaceXO I recommend: Wheels of Steel, Dallas 1PM, Princess of the Night

  • @TichfaceXO Princess of the Night, Heavy Metal Thunder, Never Surrender, etc. etc.

  • @TichfaceXO Listen to Saxon album called Metalhead

  • @TichfaceXO Metalhead

  • @TichfaceXO check out all of em brother......Dallas 1pm is a mighty fine song to check out.

  • @TichfaceXO Broken Heroes

    And the bands played on

    Crusaiders

    And a lot more

  • @TichfaceXO everyone, except "Ministry Of Fools", the instrumental parte is wonderful, but the lyrics suck, too politized, except in the case you like that kind of lyrics.

  • @TichfaceXO Princess of The Night, one of their best.

  • @TichfaceXO Krakatoa which they originally released in 86 from innocene is no excuse

  • @TichfaceXO crusader.

  • @TichfaceXO Denim and Leather is a most have album, get it on cd or vinyl-no fucking download!

  • @TichfaceXO Ride like the wind a Criss Cross cover

  • @TichfaceXO sailing to america, wheels of steel, princess of the night

  • @TichfaceXO Solid ball of rock

  • One life, I'm gonna live it up. Takin flight I said I'll never give it up.

Man, emo kids need to listen to this song.

  • Which album is this from?

  • its bad to say that this is the first time ive ever listened to saxon but i assure you ill be listening to them alot more! \m/

  • Pure win

  • Is this with Glocker on drums?

  • the best cover!

  • anyone else think vocals sound like ozzy?

  • @arrestedshrimp Yea your rightI can hear it a little

  • pretty faithful cover version. not super-exciting but its nice to hear Saxon pay respect to the Priest.

  • Outstanding! I bought Wheels Of Steel in 1980 and have everything they did in the 80's and early 90's.

I did not know they did this cover. I still get goosebumps when I hear Biff and the boys. They have such a dynamic sound. Saxon is without a doubt one of the finest metal bands of all time.

Being an older guy it may seem strange but I like Opeth,Kalmah,Insomnium,Wintersun,Ensiferum,Amon Amarth,Eluveitie and many others but in the old days it was Sabbath, Thin Lizzy,Saxon and Motorhead.

  • \,,/

  • @BlueShark45 dude, kalmah's AWESOME thats cool u like newer shit man. judas priest is my favourite band though. i wish i was 19 in the 80's and not right now! \m/

  • @BlueShark45 actually, i heard this from saxon before i did from priest!

still, i gotta say it, motorhead should do this shit too...

    cheers mate!

  • killer kover

  • Now if Maiden or Sabbath would do something like this...

  • Ass kicking cover!!! I love Priest, but Saxon is a little bit more my style!!!!

  • WTF, Saxon covered a classic Judas Priest song? To me that's really some sign of maturity, instead of probably just bashing Judas Priest because of them being kind of business rivals.

  • Saxon and Priest are frequently touring together and Biff and rob are rumored to be friends. And both are friends to german singer Doro Pesch. At the "Bang Your Head Festival" in Germany Biff said on stage that Priest are a "living legend" and that he's "a Priest fan".

  • Exactly. They're colleagues more so than rivals.

  • great cover, awesome.

  • I don't like metal in general, but this cover is light enough for me to listen to. I like it.

  • @VioletGiraffe what have you been listening to? death metal????

  • What do you mean? Did I say something wrong? Normally I listen to blues, country, jazz, new age, electronic and so on. Not hard-rock or metal. And I think this song by Saxon is considered to be of heavy metal style, isn't it?..

  • @VioletGiraffe if you ask me, this is heavy. though i was born in 91, i live in the 80's and this was heavy metal back then so people interpret shit differently i guess

  • @VioletGiraffe: Most metal is like this. Before the Thrash Metal boom in the mid-80's this was considered extremely hard and heavy. (The original was released by Judas Priest in 1982).

  • HAIL THE METAL OF ROCK AND ROLL!!!

  • Hail Judas Priest , Hail Saxon, Hail Heavy Metal

    awesome cover!!

  • Great cover, Biff sings with the same energy like Rob.

  • i think i just shitted my pants; THIS COVER IS TOO AWESOME

  • NOT BAD AT ALL 5 STAR TRIBUTE!

  • Eargasm.

  • great covers

glad not to see pieces of shit like slipknot cover these songs

they deserve to be covered by other great bands

  • I couldn't agree with you more! I fucking hate slipknot, poser fucking shit. If they even dare to touch bands like Judas Priest..god...then they shall die in a pit of razor blades!

Saxon did however an awesome cover with this song :) Own touch and all, but the original will always be best. But as mentioned, awesome cover!

  • slipknot should be scared shitless right now!!!

  • they do do good covers but also slipknot isnt shit just a diff type of music than u like if they were shit they wouldnt be famous their music actualy is very complex ive learned some of their songs on guitar and it takes talent

  • slipknot is good but you'r right they wouldn't do this justice they arn't melodic enough like saxon or JP

  • shitknot is definately not good

  • yeah I can see what you mean but yeah they have their good songs too (one of those bands where they have really good songs and also songs that even if you're a fan would say sucks) depends on the listenerwith their style

  • @DSchea

You are in no sittuation to slag off one of the Biggest and best movements in Metal History..I am a Huge Fan of Priest and Saxon and the rest of the bands that started Metal but Slipknot have alot of Respect aswell and the fact that they are all verry verry Tallented at what they do , one of the best drummers ever, vocalists and guitar players!

  • @TheUKHammer Their guitar is extremely easy to play and their vocalist is kinda average. Their drums and their bass is pretty sweet but i can't help listening to them and wishing they'd be in a different band.

  • Mind blowing cover! Saxon, always on the top.

  • Fritz Randow... brilliant drummer...

And the album is A Tribute To Judas Priest : Legends of Metal Volume 1 (track 12)

  • @ShoeiBoy Actually, it was Nigel Glockler who played drums on this song. :)

But you're right all the same. :)

    \m/

  • @88speedfreakDrage

Wow. I thought Randow was the lightning-fast kickdrum merchant.

I stand corrected. Thanks for putting me straight.

  • Pat Boone would be pleased

  • They put their own touches on it but it was all good. Very nice job!

    (from a huge Priest fan)

  • what was that, the intro to painkiller and then You've got another thing comin'

  • good

  • Excellent cover. Fantastic vocals, ballsy guitars. Love it.

  • This is an Excellent cover!!

  • Yes it is!

  • Comment removed

  • I've only ever heard the old eighties video of this. Where does this track come from? I need it badly.

  • Don't remeber, I've had it on my computer so long sorry.

  • Judas Priest cover album, can't remember the name.

  • Yes, I found it shortly after I posted my comment.

  • Screaming For Vengeance, pal.

  • Hell Bent Forever...

  • @therealenkc well the original is from Priest and the CD is Judas priests Greatest Hits.

  • I love this version!

Technically, Priest are better band, but Both Versions on Studio are SAME LEVEL cause it is not 1 of the best songs by Priest, but the Live Version VENGEANCE TOUR of this song, is the Best version u can get! Check it out.

  • saxon are a fantastic band in their own right..... and i for one (as a massive fan of both bands for 10 years, which isnt bad for a 22 year old) prefer saxon to priest, they are much better live (in my opinion) and well, i just like their cds better OVERALL, but i love priest too. and btw, this cover is fantastic.

  • The Saxon and the Judas Priest have made a "both concert" sometime... and that was so pretty cool. I guess there is one certenliy, but there are maybe more videos in YouTube.

Anyway, this cover is still FUCKIN' COOOOOL :D YEAH!

    \m/ JP & Saxon \m/

  • Saxon is awsome! Great cover

  • Wow, I'm surprised. I was expecting a shitty cover but it's pretty good.

  • This cover god damned gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood!

    \m/ \m/ GO SAXON \m/ \m/ GO JUDAS PRIEST \m/ \m/
