  • amazing exercices! THANKS! :D i need to develop more my singles and triplets!

  • his shirt, ftw!!

  • The triple looks like the Moeller.

  • I have wondered why Mike Portnoy won a shitload of awards and was an unquestionable drum GOD for years... He basically taught me to do double strokes with a double pedal, then I got sick of it cause he did it ALL THE TIME and his music was getting duller and duller and there is so much better music made allaround... Now I don't really need double pedals much...

and it's funny now that Dream Theater took Mike Mangini as the drummer, everyones is like "Well Portnoy wasn't that good anyway..."

  • @aakkoin I think Portnoy raised the bar for drummers in his hey day, but now that you can find more technical drummers all over the place (influenced by him and a lot of other players) he gets left behind. You're right though, he has a set of techniques that he kinda makes his own, but it got old pretty fast.

  • It sucks cause I have big feet

  • @CalicoPaints Get longboards.

  • @CalicoPaints That doesn't mean anything. Size of your foot doesn't determine if you can do heal-toe or not. You have to watch drumlessonscom's heal-toe technique video.

  • awesome technique :D

  • I just can't get the heel-toe technique down, when I do the motion the beater just goes 1 time down en back up.. what could be the problem? :(

  • @BrightenHite Try this: Put your foot at the top of the pedal and bury the beater and then just drop your heal, then just follow through.

  • @HarnessDavid I will give it a try soon, I've been practising for months now and when I do the motion my heel just hits the footboard and I got one stroke..

  • @BrightenHite Try to not have your heal hit the footboard but the heal plate instead, then just do a toe hit. Heal toe is more of a toe toe motion it just uses this kind of motion.

  • @BrightenHite Try making sure you lift your heel back up when you initiate the toe part of the heel toe. Let me know if that helps, that was my problem when I first started

  • Argh I always watch these videos at night when I can't practice! Now I'm itching to play!

  • Jared- great lesson! I like the hybrid "beginner intermediate advanced" format.

  • Really great lesson, as always. I know it's a great lesson when it starts with "Yeah, I can do that" and ends with "Holy shit I'll never be able to do that!"

  • What I hate about myself is that I can play that first beat even faster, but I don't know shit about the heel-toe technique :S XD

  • that is just crazy! awesome!

  • Hi Jared!...

  • Hey Jared would like t ask about the TAMA Speed cobra! How does it fair against the iron cobra and other pedals?

  • Shouldn't the triplets be Toe-Heel-Toe? Instead of Heel-Toe-Toe?

  • That head actually sounds better on your bass than the emad.

  • should my spring tension be the loosest setting?

  • a very helpful video :)

i just started to learn this technique and i find it easier to combine it with the slide technique. i do a little slide while doing a heel toe kick. thats my little modification

  • FALKIN' EH, dude!

  • can someone tell me if there is a prefferable tension for pedals to be?

  • @mamanatare1 a super good fusion drummer Simon Phillips uses then very loose, but I bet someone prefers tight as hell, I suggest using medium tension until you really find the tension that suites the pedal and you.

  • @mamanatare1 Everyone has a different preference... you just have to toy around with yours. I made the mistake of using full spring tension for a show once because death metal drummers always have those... and halfway through the set, I thought my shin was going to snap... so I'm going to give my vague preference... tight enough for a good response, not too tight that it might give you a hernia or a cramp.

  • Cool vid ! Some material to practice ! And are your shoes camper ?

  • opps hell toe srry

  • jared i have 13 years old and im a pretty good drummer bot i can do the high toe tech bot i cannot do triplets , did i need to practice more or buy an orther pedal more biger ( because my pedal is pretty small )

  • @frost7drum the size of the pedal doesnt really matter you need to practice more (I do triplets making the heel toe technique and then just add an extra hit with the toe but it kinda takes you practice)

  • @drumlessonscom i thought you were wearing moon boots for a sec lol

  • Thank you for this lesson! I'm going to do these with both heal-toe and slide, hopefully doing both at the same speed with help keep my heal-toe up to speed since I'm better at slide.

  • Very Cool Jared! stay tuned and keep well !

  • Incredible!

  • Fuck. tenth....

  • eighth

  • eight

  • one cool thing to do with these exercises-doing the same with left foot :)

  • you guys are awesome thanks for uploading these vids :)

  • if only I had a cymbal endorser

  • You guys rock. I love learning new things from the videos you provide. I'm trying hard to become a better drummer. I hope one day to be as good as you guys. Thanks so much.

  • Nice shoes

  • Finally!
