This is the dance that Russians copied and posted as Russian Cossack dance, just so all you know that. In fact most dancers who dance in those "army" videos are Ukrainian
@basilolo I did afterwards... eaven thought it could or could not be the actual one (at least the one i was reading) it was still a lot of fun to read.
It reminds me of the Magyar/Ukrainian/Polska feasts at the old Verhovy Hall in South Bend, Indiana but they left out all of the incredibly beautiful girls and the food/drink ! Now you go into a place where they charge you $7 for a bottle of beer and have some flakey feminine waiter that expects a $2 tip !! Where are the waitresses nowadays??? What Happened to Amerika????
Fabulous video. It's wonderful that Ukrainians of all origins, ancestries and ethnicities can live in harmony in a land where diversity is encouraged and valued. That's the true Zaporozhian Cossack leadership example and legacy that lives on.
my father was from the UKRAINE and he could still do some of the dancing in his 60s he was only 5foot 7 inches in height but over 6 feet tall in heart and kindness
@erclievski kozak is name given to ukrainians by tartars because we were free men, how could russian be free man when he kissed feet of Tsar and treated him like he was better than everybody else?
What type of music was that after the fade and how can I find more of it? Look on Youtube " Zasvistali Kozachenki (засвистали козаченьки)" or "Засвистали козаченьки ♦ Ukrainian folk song about cossacks ♫ bandura".
If you have any questions about Ukrinian music, songs, dance feel free to ask.
Conversations at YouTube between Ukrainians and Poles are usually respectful and celebrate both similarities & differences between the cultures despite our tragic battles against each other in darker times in our history. Common ancestry & soul are celebrated without smugness or malice.
As soon as a Russian person imposes on the dialogue it becomes an imperialist declaration of ownership of the culture. It is NOT "все равно" (same thing). Russians would not call themselves Poles or Ukrainians!

Russian Devls Empire of lie must die. VIVA VIVA UKRAЇЇNA!!!
Do ukrainans still have any cossack hosts? Becouse i found information that russian cossacks hosts are "remade" and are recognized as a distinct ethno-cultural entity and also as a military force.
Find that letter in internet. Cossacs said many swearwords to that turkish monkey and called him as muslim goat subhuman. In 1677 100 000 turkish army was kicked by ukrainian cossacs under Chigirin. Also in 1678 200 000 turkish army was kicked there. After that cossacs wrote this letter.
Literal translation: "Hey boys, don't worry, look here and everywhere." It's a traditional Ukrainian Kozak phrase, but I am not sure of it's intended meaning. Maybe "hey boys, relax and take a look at this."
Women don't dance this particular dance. But they do dance hopak, a similiar genre. Type hopak, especially Virsky Hopak (performed by Virsky ensemble) and you should find it.
love this dance! can women learn this dance, I'd love to learn it! The movement, the harmony, the fluidity, the endurance, the strength...it's beautiful
I think it's: "гей микола не журісь, сюди туди повернісь!" My group did an adaption of this dance a while back. My brother told me what they said because he did the dance. :)
It's not" hey mykola" it's " hey, khlopsi" (the Ukrainian word for boys. And, in the 2nd part, you mixed up tude & cyude. Sorry, I don't have the capabilities of typing in Cyrillic.
But, if it helps, it's "Hey khoptsi ne zhuryc', tude cyude povernyc'"
holy shit that was amazing!! My mother is Ukrainian and they are happy people indeed, but I still see Russians as delighted people as well:) I love the culture, music, and especially the dancing
I myself was born in Russian but my mom is Ukrainian. My best memories are from spending time in Ukraine with my granny. While Russian & Ukrainian cultures maybe similar Ukrainian people are happier, way more fun and light hearted. I thank God for my granny every day! Simply love Ukrainians! They have sence of humor no matter what!
I am russian born and raised living in america, my boyfriend is Ukrainian and I agree with you 100% that Ukrainians are always so happy and look on bright side of everything. It's very refreshing!
@anyaonline i have to agree for the most part, but i was in ukriane last summer....and ...it was shocking, the light hearted ppl r becomeing money grubing assholes...
@9nxt - only time will reveal that; in the meantime, give them a chance to adjust to their new life; the transformation from an occupied land throughout their history to a viable & sustainable nation consists of many stages & could take 20-30 years; money grubbing is only Stage 1; have you thought about vacationing someplace more developed?
This was a terrific show put on by professional dancers, much like a Hollywood production. These dancers are, er, were paid by the Soviet government at the time. Ukraine is a beautiful Nation and now free of the Russian yoke, although Putin wants to dominate the surrounding Nations again like the tyrant he is. May God bless the Cossacks and Ukrainian people and keep them free!
They dance like ballerinas. They are so skilled and leap so high! Forgive my ignorance, but I always thought they were Russians. I guess its time for a trip to wikipedia.
Who cares who invented what. Over the centuries what with all the traveling every culture has done, all have borrowed and created a little from everyone. Its whats make us all who we are today. And if we could just live in uninson and harmony, the world would be a better place for all of us!
I've definately added this to one of my favorites on youtube.
If you watch any old movie you see that many of the dance moves black Americans claim as theirs, are infact stolen dances from from early European ghettos who brougt their dances with them that latter were stolen by blacks.
No need to bring race into this. If breakdancers incorporate some Ukrn dance moves into their repertoire, good on 'em- after all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! As a Cdn of Ukrn & Rusn lineage (biracial!!) who did many years of Ukrn dancing, who had the good luck to see these guys live in Canada in 1987 (88?), and who also played a lot of bebop trumpet, I can say that quality transcends all boundaries - as this amazing performance does with ease. Thanks to whomever posted it.
@lilsteller I think stolen is not a good word. It's common to learn from your neighbours and from travellers from far countries, and without it there would be no improvement and progress and even those great old cultures as are Celts and Slavs would be much poorer...
Terrrrrifffic Art of Dance!!! A little comment to benderovtsu enayze. Real Ukrainians and Russians were, are and always be brothers. A mass murderer Bandera/Mazepa're not Ukrainian heroes, but pro-western trash full of hate only God knows of what true nationality. They lived like wolves and died like wolves with innocent blood on their paws.
I visited Zaporozhye 3 times, went to the Island' once mountainbiking, seen a wolf, big horses and a big moustache.I like Zaporozhye and my house has many things I brought home from there.Wish I can visit again : )

It's not" hey mykola" it's " hey, khlopsi" (the Ukrainian word for boys. And, in the 2nd part, you mixed up tude & cyude. Sorry, I don't have the capabilities of typing in Cyrillic.
But, if it helps, it's "Hey khoptsi ne zhuryc', tude cyude povernyc'"
klf117 2 years ago
its hard to listen (bad quality) In ukrainian cyrilic it will be like: "Гей, хлопці не журись! Туди, сюди повернись!"

@9nxt welcome to democracy, capitalism, freedom - did you expect the ukrainian people to stay frozen in time?
Fureyn 1 year ago
@Fureyn no smart ass but i would expect them not to turn into gient assholes
9nxt 1 year ago

Blah, Blah, Bla to all these comments.
This group of performers are fantastic!

Irish and Slavs are the best european dancers.

Thanks to whomever posted it.

lilsteller--yeah our dances look alike
2009stalker 2 years ago
@lilsteller That is because thousands years ago Irish (Celts) separated from people who are now Slavs:-)
EsaulRuss 1 year ago
