@thegothway They're from Switzerland: they're Swiss. Celtic is a style that was developed in Ireland, bands outside Ireland are influenced by the style, and thus are named Celtic Metal too.
I have sent you a link to Amazonne's Man of the North. They are a Folk Metal Band from West Wales, who also cross over into Celtic Metal, and Symphonic Metal.
All the bands from outside Ireland sound like the shite dilldly ie music that people get when they visit the tourist pubs in the west of Ireland. Go to Knocknagree . The Irish bands sound authentic
@kalidontx yes it is cali, I'm also a huge fan of the Slavic metal scene, ARKONA are fucking amazing, Masha Scream is like the Bruce Dickinson of Slavic Pagan metal in a dress........
@canadianshit212 Yep, not only am I a history major, But also the singer of the band Golden Axe, we were a more traditional/Thrash band, but dropped a couple members found a new drummer and guitarist and are auditioning a ladd that plays the Highland Pipes, Lowland smallpipes, tinwhistles, + a lass that is supposed to be an amazing electric violinist today. So we're going in a more CelticFolk history based "Battle Metal" direction, I can't post links here but look for our Fb page and old demo..
@canadianshit212 I do mate, most people don't recognize the cultures of Scandinavia as being a Germanic race, Teutonic is another all encompassing term as well, so yes I do know that, Sorry mate.
@folklover I was talking to azfret mate, sorry, not used to these comments, I spend my days covered in Woade paint hunting Stags and Praying to Cernnun for a plentiful hunt..........Seriously I wasn't talking to you , the @blah blah is confusing......
@folklover Tyr is a Viking Folk Metal band from the Faroese islands north of Denmark, All they sing about is Norse mythology, you are an Idiot, but, you do have good taste in music.
@folklover I think you better rephrase that to "are you mentally incompetant or what?" just so they have to look what those two words mean in the dictionary.
I think you could include in this video, or in future videos, this band from Spain: Saurom. They are really good. For example this song: "La batalla con los cueros de vino".
I don't know if you listened to this other band, Mago de Oz, from Spain also. They both are the most popular celtic metal bands.
@HentaiFutziii123 If you are asking if Eluveitie are Gauls, you are correct, Gaul being the ancient occupied lands of the Celts that stretched from The Shetland islands all the way into Persia at one point.
Actually the term Gaul only ever referred to an area that's now occupied by France and small areas of the surrounding countries. Celts did at one time inhabit Asia Minor (Anatolia-- modern Turkey) but never Persia.
Stribog are Croatians with a Slavic-language name who sing about Slavic mythology. I think the fact that they have a whistle player confuses you. None of their lyrics or music take any cues from traditional Celtic music ideologically or in terms of structure besides having a whistle.
@Metallicazack Well, its ok. But I refered to the music style, no lyrics influence. If we include the lyrics, its obvious that Stiborg it's not a celtic metal band. But in the other hand, I think that If a band have with a celtic influence in the lyrics and dont have any folk instruments like whistle, I would not define this like Celtic Metal.
Is Suidakra better than Eluveitie? I hardly think so. I mean, Suidakra is a good band, but Eluveitie is fucking awesome! The perfect combination between traditional celtic music and melodic death metal.
@LastOfTheWilds920 The Gauls were the real original celts. We derive the word from the name that the Romans gave to the Gauls of central France, an area they called Celtica.
true. we call the mainland Celts Hallstadt Celts because of the origins in Switzerland and Austria. However the Bretons are Brythonic Celts, because they were on the British Isles before they left for Brittany. Us (Irish), the Highland Scots, and the Manx are Goidelic Celts, our ancestral languages are very similar. Once I started recording celtic metal songs they're going to be in Irish, as they should be. Support the effort to restore the Celtic languages! ár dteangacha féin!
I would love to hear metal in the Irish language. I wanted to learn it but being I'm american it would be pointless to learn it. Although I haven't learned the very practical Spanish yet either so I suppose it's just because I'm lazy. lol Tá mé an fear!
@folklover That's fair enough but I've heard some of Cruachan's music and would say that Horslips are heavier than them. Indeed, Horslips are one of their main influences.
Personally, I am fond of Skiltron. Masterful bagpipes, flutes, heavy metal, and a vocalist with a Ronnie James Dio (may he rest in peace) style. They're worth checking out if you ask me.
@j0nj0n3697 That is the age old debate isn't it? Did the Celts invade the Vikings before the vikings invaded the Celts? Hell, technically the Celts are originally from what is now Germany. I give up on tracking all this craziness! Lol.
@ShadesFE3S Well, the Celts were living more in central Europe and Ireland and England whereas the Vikings were living in the Scandinavian countries. Vikings were barbaric merchants, warriors, explorators as to the celts were a whole population, not just a certain amount of people. I think both ended with the start of Monarchy and Christianisation(if I can call it like that).
The Vikings did raid the celts more than a few times but nobody actually invaded anyone.
ok only bands 3 6 7 10 or Celtic which is Irish my culture but the others have the Celtic style but aren't from Celtic lands so they aren't Celtic they are just rip offs
