It's probably mention elsewhere, and it's still a beta, but is there any promise to hot-seating? My friends and I love to play hot-seat, and not many turn-based games (at least the ones I own) offer hot-seating.

The graphics are meant to be simple so that many can play and the screen has a lot of units.

For those that played Sins of a Solar Empire you realize their focus is on gameplay, not on graphics.

@darklordofspawn Stardock is publishing it and developing it. Impulse is Stardock's digital distribution platform (they own it / made it ).

It's like how Steam is Valve's Digital Distribution platform. Both Impulse and Steam aren't companies, they're software for distributing games :P

I pre-ordered the ($10 off on Amazon!) limited edition last night as well as the novel written by the designer. :) Haven't been this geekily excited about a game since I was a tyke!

But yeah I'm really excited too! New beta next week as well (hopefully)

The beta should open again next week (I think) with the full graphical engine, not the cloth map. But by open I mean give it to people who preorder

I have to admit, I was very worried they were going to screw up terribly, but so far it looks good. The premise is nice; Forget a war to save the world, that already happened and everything is dead. Like the idea of 'revitalizing' the world, too. By far the biggest thing I like is the change of researching new technologies to 'recovering' what is already lost.

I'm in the 1Z beta, and its not much more than what you are playing here. But it's nice to see someone kinda bringing me through the game. I only played it yesterday for a few hours, but that and after playing Galciv2 I know Elemental War of Magic, especially after seeing the near final graphics demo, will be one heck of an awsome game . . .

@Daelyn75 Indeed it will. And beta 1Z had actually added ALOT imo. Everyone who was in any beta before 1Z is now in 1Z lol, they don't kick you out (especially since its open to everyone who preordered)

Where'd you see the graphics demo? PAX? Or just a video?

on the "E" in ELEMENTAL it has blue,red,green and yellow representing the elements on the "L" in ELEMENTAL it has red,blue and green no yellow do they hate the color or the element?

Wow! I'm actually very impressed. I realize this is only a bug filled beta so I'm not going to be all critical.

It looks very good so far and I like the original engine art. The musical score makes me feel cozy already.

I'm kinda mad that Atari is being so lame about not allowing Stardock to have the rights for MoM2, but I'm still confident that this is still going to be a totally awesome game.

If anyone from Atari reads this wake up and give the rights to Stardock for MoM2!!!

Yeah, I think Stardock would really love to have MoM2 on Impulse, but I don't know if it will happen anytime soon. Atleast Stardock managed to put TA on impulse recently

There's actually alot of gameplay missing right now too :P

They still need to add dynasties and quests and battles and such. And they need to balance cities and economics (which they've done INTERNALLY). Stardock has said the beta won't be "fun" until probably "beta 3" but I do think it will be fun by then

I still play original MoM...heck I still play Angband! Unfortunately sense gaming became mainstream, everything thinks that their game is the best... Statistically speaking, the smarter the game, the smarter the player thou...you don't see Bubba playing a strategy game, he playing MW2... Some people play chess, some people play candyland... Chess players understand all games appeal to people differently...candyland players WILL KILL ALL NERDS with BUTTON MASHING!

@SpacePopeIII Buy it now and then play it until Mass Effect 2 comes out, or delay the purchase of Mass Effect 2. Bioware can afford to go without your money for a month, but we need to support small publishers whenever we can, especially when they release such a good PC ONLY game, which we see so few of!!

I heard this game is supposed to have a unique engine and can be played on very low spec computers as well has high end, the graphics will scale and adjust accordingly.

What we have now is probably going to be the low end graphics at release (so bad computers will probably play on a cloth map like this). Stardock hasn't given us the "real" graphics yet because they want to focus on runtime errors and the like right now, not graphical errors.
