Once again, the Leopard II has impressed me. It envisions everything that the Main Battle Tank needs, fire power, survivability, mobility, and cost effectiveness. Though in certain fields the M1A2 Abrams is better, the Leopard II simply takes the cake. It is a third of the cost of the Abrams, it uses a longer 120mm gun, better fuel efficiency, easier to produce, the only thing I've ever come across that can be seen as 'bad' is that is uses steel armor.
First off the Abrams does not suck, it is a great tank, the Leapord has the better fire power because of the longer 120mm gun, but it is rumored the longer gun is going into the M1A3 so once this is done the Abrams will be as good as the Leapord 2, However i am a firm believer that a piece of equipment cannot be considered the best until it has seen combat in the role it was intended for. So that being said for me the two best tanks are the M1A2 and the Challenger 2

It is well known that the Germans are excellent technicians, and their lust for perfection is equally well known. As irony would have it, it is that unrelenting desire to produce the perfect tank was their ultimate downfall in WWII. The Tiger was a far superior tank in every category except one, and that was numbers. One perfect tank against ten "good enough" tanks is a losing propostion no matter how well you fight. Quantity has a quality all its own.

Exactly. A good example: The Russian T-34. Here is a tank that is the opposite of the Tiger. The engine and transmission are roughly machined collections of parts that would grind off a full kilo of shavings during the break-in period. The Tiger engine and transmission were expertly machined and used ballbearings and delicate spider gears designed to last forever. The T-34 would have to change out the drive train after 1000 hours. But that was good enough to win!

Once again, the Leopard II has impressed me. It envisions everything that the Main Battle Tank needs, fire power, survivability, mobility, and cost effectiveness. Though in certain fields the M1A2 Abrams is better, the Leopard II simply takes the cake. It is a third of the cost of the Abrams, it uses a longer 120mm gun, better fuel efficiency, easier to produce, the only thing I've ever come across that can be seen as 'bad' is that is uses steel armor.
But besides that, its amazing.

First off the Abrams does not suck, it is a great tank, the Leapord has the better fire power because of the longer 120mm gun, but it is rumored the longer gun is going into the M1A3 so once this is done the Abrams will be as good as the Leapord 2, However i am a firm believer that a piece of equipment cannot be considered the best until it has seen combat in the role it was intended for. So that being said for me the two best tanks are the M1A2 and the Challenger 2
