One of my first thoughts was if my car was left there I'd appreciate it if the police or someone would keep ppl away from my car and not vandalize it ya know?
nice reporting, we live around the belmont exit and had no idea these cars were piled up down there. just looked like they had closed the drive and there was no traffic. can't wait to hear the stories of the people who abandoned their cars... where did they all go?
@varsityeagle89 hahaha!! ya she was talking to me..she told me like 20 times. a few minutes before this video she really did tell me i was subject to arrest if i didnt leave. there were tons of people walking and taking pictures though. i learned that if i walked next to the street she couldnt say anything. that cop was the most annoying part of the day. she was driving up and down the whole street yelling at people. she even yelled at some kids who were sledding on a giant snow drift
@brecht727 haha wata Cunth! Awesome vid noneless.. Damn well i hope everything goes well over there Brecht. Shout out here from Tx :) And we're actually praying for snow to come out here lol 30 degrees at this point.
Look at all the wipers whipped up. Should have got in there with a back hoe and ripped out that median guard rail in a few places and let those cars get turned and headed south! Fix that stupid guard rail later if it is so needed!
They said on WGN there were just about 100 cars involved and all should stay with there cars - this was at 11 pm. Yeah - I mean things happen but stupid city officials. Next time it could be a greater disaster. YOU"RE DAMN LUCKY CHICAGO "OFFICIALS"
That is something else... Great video reporting there. This would fit in well with my youtube documentary I'm in the middle of now. If you're interested, check out my channel and you can see if it's something you want to submit this video into.
Lol people think that the wind tore up peoples wind shield wipers. I'm pretty sure if you live in Chicago you know that we do that. To keep the wind shield wipers from freezing into the wind shield.
@jmms429 I'm not sure that's what happened. From what I heard on WGN radio overnight, the radio personalities were reporting that the first responders wanted people to lift their windshield wipers in that position so that they could know if there was anybody in the car. That's what I heard. I guess emergency people figured that it would be an easy way to quickly tell if there were people still in the car.
I always wondered where people went that left their cars
