    Director :

    Subodh Mukherjee

    Music Director :

    Shankar Jaikishan

  • Rafi Saab was a great person blessed with an equally great voice. He added life to his melodies and made most of his numbers immortal. He is missed and there is no doubt that there will be no singer to mesmerize us the way he did.

But comparing him to God and stuff like that is unacceptable and is like committing a great sin. Please my friends do not get carried away and indulge in such comparisons.

  • What a unique song by Rafi Sahab, a great melody given by the wizards of music SJ; Rafi Sahab rendered this tune with exquisite marvel.

  • THAT IS NOT enough IN RESPECT OF RAFI SAHIB HIS VOICE IS VOICE OF GOD I LOVE HIM SO MUCH

  • my fav singers...... rafi, noor jehan, rafi, nusrat fateh ali khan, rafi, lata, rafi, asha, saigal, rafi, mukesh, rafi, kishore, rafi, gurdas mann and of course, RAFI

  • both Rafi sahab and Lataji sang this unparallel tune to absoloute perferctions, seems this melody emerged from a heavenly place out of this planet, especially Rafi sahab's one. What a music was created by the wizae-rds of music Shankar Jaikishan. a million thnx for posting.

  • Yes no doubt.Rafi was a gift of God.He was very simple, honest and dedicated to his job.Almost all of FUNKAR of that era were like that.Weather they were singers or composers.List starts from K.L.Sehgal and ends at Asha Bhsle. That is why that era is called the Golden era of Indian music. This song was sung in Raag Eiman.

  • we need rafi sahib again agaaaaan ever. Mr rafi you tech the true meaning of love all of us for ever.

  • 9 dumbs were sleeping while listening and slipped their hands!!

  • @saumin85, oh no, they were born with deformed hands and retarded mind.

  • rafi ji ka jawaab nahi aur saira bhi kuch kum nahi

  • At the risk of sounding blasphemous. Rafi, you are God! My intention is not to hurt anyone's sentiments her, but I worship this man. Who else can take you to such heights of profound spirituality? His voice, his mastery over music....he rules millions of hearts....he is the one and only- Rafi

  • Such a beautiful song!! The words are just perfect..

  • Height of surrender. . . .

  • Now it is over. Hopefully Kim Bush agrees.

  • Very Nice

  • awesome, awesome shammi

  • what a song ,reminds me of my young days

  • nice song.......

    legend.rafi sahab

  • Rafi sahab was a divine singer. What he has given to Indian music others can only dream of. There can be many Latas, Kishores, Ashas, Talats but no other Rafi.

Just listen to this song, word Mohabbat was sung differently on every occassion and noone but only Rafi Sahab had this magic to make a song immortal sheer through his voice only.

  • @gumsum70000, very good obsevation.

  • Absolutely mind blowing. No words can describe the beauty and the emotion of Rafi saab's singing.

  • kya kehnay hain. wahh wahh wahh.

  • Wow what a song? what better tribute we can give to Rafi saab on this day rather than in his own words"tume ne mujh ko hasna sikhaya rone kaho ro lenge ab". Aap ki yaad ko koyi nahi mita sakta. Sivaramakrishnan Hyderabad

  • Awesome song

  • Cant believe a gem like this has got thumbs down ...

  • @kkulkarn

may be they wanted to wind you up

  • another great one from Rafi.

  • hahaha:D

    thanx for d dedication barfi:P

    lolz..ROFL:D

  • these songs these singers, were the GEM of indian culture and values .... such voice has never reproduced and lookin at the current trend can never be reporduced. ..

    Rafi Sahab, i miss you

wish i was born in your era

  • @vikified Most ardous disappointment and quest you share. But thats life! In his life time had a pleasure to see great artist in action in Bombay a live aid for flood victims. In his life time credit for his highest quality of vocal artist and it success marred by dispute between Lata M and Late Rafi Sahib, these differences never resolved, remain biggest gap in his carrier and fame and considered as second choice. Indian film industry now realised WHAT they LOST! Screw Bollywood!

  • i think the credit for this song goes not just to Rafi but also shammi kapoor.

if you just listen to the song without the audio, it feels so soft and romantic. but when u see the video, it feels so sensual. it is the usual shammi kapoor - rafi magical combo.

actors those days conveyed such intense emotions with their eyes.

these days our heroes have huge biceps and mostly vacant eyes.

  • very sweet and nice song,,,

  • I'm so touched by the song...n Shammi Kapoor is a very talented actor n the voice of Saab Mohd Rafi makes the songs more marvellous n splendid.

  • Such a wonderful song this is ... Only Rafi Sa'ab could make it feel like this .. .

  • this song will go down in history as an eternal song.

  • This song has a lot of emotion and perfectly executed by the one and only Shammi Kapoor. Mike

  • superb!!! loved this song from the moment i heard it!

  • for my love!!

  • @kanizful thank you my sweetie pie!

  • eternal song. Rafi saab -SJ cannot do anytihng wrong. They were special creation of god

  • Beautiful

  • This is for you meri dil ki rani.

  • yes my love, only for u ...

  • kahna he tu mushkil hai. Help needed.

  • @alisajid2009 ha haha, thats correct.

  • great song by mahammad rafi shaab one of my favorite

  • What are those stupid bells that you added? the song is beautiful originally. You have good decibles but the bells distort the song.

  • rone kahoge rolenge ab....that tune is the most difficult tune of the song(infact the beauty of the song) because it comes suddenly after the line... tumne mujhko hasna sikhaya..which is very high pitch...so it is difficult to adjust to the slopping mode....if any one can sing this line perfectly he can sing the whole song perfectly..

  • rafi shammi combbo at its best and add sairajee to it...sone pe suhaaga...

    romanticism at its zenith

  • What a line, translated below,

You showed me how to laugh, if you ask me to cry I will do

  • MOHD RAFI sahib aap tu chaa jatay hain ,RAFI = gana or chaana , RAFI sahib aap jaisa singer india tu kia whole world bhi nahi payda ker sakti , male singers main sara kamal aap he ka hay aap kay baghair tu indian music bhi garbage hay aap nay indian music ga ker indian music ko amer kia hay ,indian music directors ,rag , raagnian , poetry ,yeh sub aap per naaz kerti hain aap nay yeh sub kuch ga ker in ko amer ker dia hay , JUB TAK SURAJ CHAND RAHAY GA , RAFI GURU TERA NAAM RAHAY GA , O , G OYE

  • kya baat hai huzoor. bahut khoob kaha.. sach.

  • I think Saira bano looked beautiful only and only in this movie......rest of all movies she looked quite ordinary

  • Great song. I was a child when it was released. The feelings that Rafi put at the end from the line Ur Ur ke kahegi and the way he stresses on the word muhabbat is engraved in me. I have high respects for all musicians and singers, but I think that Rafi and SJ brought more to me than anyone else.

  • very good thakyou for recording such a good song

  • look at the expressions of shami kapoor in this song, muhammad rafi ki awaz aur shami kapoor kay expressions, what else a great song can require to become one of the most famous song of its era.

  • Pure poetry! The guy who initially wrote this did so to give to a woman & not for the film.

  • that fakir baba was slightly wrong to say "Ja beta hidusthan me tera joridar nei banega" pura duniya me rafi ka koi joridar nahi hai.

  • He he, yeah. aur kabhi hoga bhi nahin.

  • Thanks for your comments, be in touch.

  • All of you out there: Where have my GOLDEN DAYS gone? I want them back. Now go and bring them back to me. Many thanks

  • g8 lyrics...nice song...dedicated to my love

  • Sometimes you cant wait for things to end...

...Sometimes the things you want forever have to come to an end

  • dun sing thiz for the bitches thn...:P

  • Sin duda alguna las peliculas hindús han calado mucho en el Perú y en todo el mundo.

  • brilliant song

  • Sammi kapoor with Rafi sahab great comb

  • The magic of Rafi is incomparable......no other singer has that magnetism and soulful quality !! Simple brilliant and most enjoyable !!!

  • Yes rafi was there and will never be again.....some ppl are just once in a life time.......

  • @russelindia Do not forget the composers, lyricists and musicians. Such poetry would not have been created unless such beautiful minds were not at work...

  • @russelindia well your coment is very good but not enough in respect of rafi sahib thanks

  • someone requested translation. it is im possible to translate and retain beautiful meaning of it...but here is my crude version.

    ehsan tera hoga mujh par

    grant your favor upon me

dil chahta hai woh kehne dho

and let me say how my heart feels

mujhe tumse mohbbath ho gayi hai

I fell in love with you

mujhe palkon ke chaon mein rehne dho (2)

let me just stay in the shadows of your eyelids(eyes)

  • tumne mujhko hasna sikaya (2)

    you taught me to laugh

rone kaho tho ro lenge ab

'll cry if you want now

aasoo ka hamara gham na karo

these tears, feel not sad for them

woh bahtey hai tho bahne dho

if they flow, just let them

mujhe tumse mohabbath ho gai hai...

I fell in love with you...

  • Wah Waa...

    kyaa gaanaa hai!

    tumne mujhkO hasnaa sikhaayaa..

    Wah Waa... Insha Allah!..

  • those singers are part of our history.and what a superb history we have proud of the fact that rafi sahib was indian singer.

  • Very true. There are no words to describe the true greatness and depth of Rafi Sahib's ability and voice.

  • @najmussaqibkhan

yeah you should be proud of that but he Mr. Rafi sahib is not praised as much as Mukesh and Kishor simply because he was a Muslim. Deny that!!! I have asked 100 indian Muslim Friends and they all said the same.

  • I commpletely deny this , as we are hindus and i have always loved to hear RAFI g's songs even when i didn't know who the singer was when i was listening to his songs. my papa has n number of rafi g's collections.

people are blessed to listen to his songs and the present generation singer should go for soft romantic melodies like his songs . i don't understand why this hindu , muslims are differentiated. For ur kind info all the khans are hits in bollywood, all hindus and muslims like them

  • @shreeyav

my friend its not me who is saying this..........i did not say antyhing about u nor that hindus dont love rafi.....many of them love even Noor Jahaan (pakistani singer) and other pakistani artists.....I merely stated what my indian muslim friends said to me....

  • One of my favourite songs ever, absolutely brilliant!

  • Pls translate for me

  • What a brilliant song! Rafiji at his best...rip Rafiji! Bollywood, make this sort of songs.

  • IMMER SCHÖNER SONG!!

  • my wife never believed when i sang her this song lol and yet i am married to her smile lol

  • She looks a little like Vivien Leigh, the legend who played Scarlett O'Hara in "GONE WITH THE WIND"...

  • can anyone translate it for me? please

  • In which language you want this translation?

  • hahaha

  • I agree with iqbalkhan saab .Rafis versions always have an extra dimension to it; voice throw ( manna dey says its incomparable) and every word gets its due.Wheteher it is mere mehboob tujhe, waadiyan mera daman, tum mujhe yun, akele hain chale aao, taqdeer ka fasana, dil jo na keh saka, jab jab bahhar aayi, teri aankhon ke siva, o mere shah-e khuban,.. the list must be endless. However in duets they complement eachother perfectly

  • lata and rafi are definitely great, but i like rafi asha duets like gun guna rahe hai, abhi na jao, chura liya, sona re, ladka hai allah, deewana hua badal, etc.. more

  • man shammi kapoor looks hot here!

  • Just here... Keep that in mind.. However, he always got lucky with his heroines and songs!

  • ha ha ha!

  • legend

  • Wonderful song... excellent lyrics ever

  • probably because kishore's voice is related to rajesh khanna, amitabh, vinod khanna etc who were more recent and maybe better looking than the heroes rafi used to sing for. Infact, many actors shone only because of rafi's voice like Bharat Bhushan, Biswajeet, Rajendra Kumar, Pradeep Kumar, Rajkumar. I think Shammi, Dev Anand, Dharmendra and Gurudutt made justice on screen to Rafi's voice. If I may add, I think Rafi had a huge contribution in Dilip kumar's success as the tragedy king.

  • yep - dilip kumar is overrated imo. He was lucky to have gotten Rafi at his peak - Toote Huye Khwaabon Ne - Rafi's voice is amazing in that one.

  • such a gr8 1...!!

    mhd rafi saaf roks...!!

  • Such a great voice

    Such beautiful poetry

    Urdu zindabad.

  • Jo bhi hi Rafi Sahab was Rafi Sahab duniya ki koi bhi cheez inki aawaaz se khoobsoorat nhain ho sakti...

  • its still master piece...n shall remail forever.. Rafi was God of Singing!!!

  • My father and people of his generation are loyal rafi fans. I'm too. But I noticed that more youngsters seem to like Kishore than rafi. Why?

  • nope not at all, infact if anything kishore is the one who has the 'old guy' type voice

i know many many youngsters who dnt even listn to the new trash but insead prefer old classics by the legend one and only RAfi saab!

  • you are right. I am 9o's generation but I prefer old classics to modern songs.

  • well u hav gud choice!!

  • thanks

  • Each of the big four had his own strength.

Rafi - melodious voice and tremendous control.

Kishore - versatility king - could sing fast, slow, happy, sad songs with equal ease - great talent.

Mukesh - quality of voice (early years) and feeling - amazing voice, 'nuff said.

Manna Dey - effortless singing - of all of them, he made singing seem most effortless - very uplifting voice.

    Amazing singers all of them...
