Dont show up to an Arkansas press conference with a Florida hat on. That's like showing up to your job with AT&T in a Verizon hat. And her hat was merely the surface. People had offered to buy her an Arkansas hat and warned her ahead of time, but she was stubborn. Not to mention her facebook was full of comments on how she'd love to go work for Florida, and didn't want to do her job as an Arkansas reporter, well guess what? You're fired.

She's now been hired at a station in Gainesville. I wonder if she'd ever consider wearing a Razorback hat to one of Urban Meyer's press conferences, since "it's not a big deal". Of course, the hat isn't the reason she got fired, but it's far easier for her to try and play the victim rather than take responsiblity for unprofessionalism.

No one said she couldnt be a gator fan(not sure why you would want to be). but thats extremely dumb to wear a hat from an opposing rivalry team to a conference with a coach. He reacted just like anyone would. he didnt fire her, he doesnt have the authority to do that. she was fired by the news for being so unprofessional and disrespectful

Petrino had nothing to do with her being fired. That rest on the shoulders of the station she worked for; they found it to be unprofessional. Petrino reacted in the exact same manner that any other coach of any other football, baseball, or basketball team would have reacted. You don't wear a hat of that of an opposing team to a press conference, its just common sense. And this goes across the spectrum. If a Ford rep wore a Chevy cap to a presser, he would probably be fired.

There is more to the story than the press is telling. First of all, wearing a hat is unprofessional and most likely her rain story is bs. She also attempted to interview Ryan Mallet while wearing the hat and was refused by him. She has been tweeting how much she dislikes covering the Razorbacks and wants to be covering Florida. She has been sending tweets from practice which is prohibited. U of A also insists they had nothing to do with the firing.

However, in all fairness, when I read about this situation I expected a blow up similar to that of Mike Gundy. It is a shame she has been fired but the story has also been greatly exaggerated. Finally... Who specifically fired her? Does the head coach have authority to fire press?

@ruff3651 I agree he has no loyalty, he left his college dream job for an NFL job then 10 months and with a few weeks left in the NFL season he leaves the team and his players to go back to a college job. Hes an asshole. She wore a hat big deal. Maybe he should respect her for being loyal to her college. Just because she now works for an Ark media company doesnt mean she has to be a fan of the team. Im from NJ but my fav College and pro teams are in Miami. Should I only root for the Giants?

@myentourage so if a reporter wore a Florida State Hat to a Miami(im assuming you are a hurrucane fan) press conference and the Miami coach said the same exact statement to the reporter i'm sure you wouldnt find it to be a big deal, in fact you might promote it, I really don't think that the comment was a big deal in the first place.

@myentourage Im from new york but i moved down south. You dont understand what footballs like in the south. Especially Arkansas where the razorbacks are the only team professional or college in the state. Part of the states culture REVOLVES around football.

@eddieinhb I don't think you get it. The contract has a huge buyout. The exact number I do not know,as I do not like feel like looking it up. Sure he can leave,but the amount of money he would have to pay to get out of the contract is insane,and it was signed to actually put people at ease about him moving to a new job.
