  • the hell minchin? why did you punch him? you could just shoot him....

  • To anyone who wants to know, the Elton John song he played is called Song For Guy.

  • At 2:30 I'm thinking I wanna punch this guy.

    5:30 :)

  • Pro tip. Transcribe audio. Realize it's still genius because it sounds like it could be an unheard Tim Minchin song. Enjoy.

  • sanger! haha

  • I love how the stoke broker is Australian, I'm a Kiwi and i love it lol.

  • @glubble07

    17 by now

  • This isn't just funny, it's classy in form, and witty. If you can't appreciate the comedic value, learn to appreciate the wit and it will become funny.

  • How is this funny?

  • @kontaktseistrup You gotta be one of the 17 guys with no sort of intelligent humor ;)!

  • @kontaktseistrup how is this funny ? well, kontaktseistrup, I presume you're some kind kind of postulating, peroxided porn-star prick from Pori or Poland yourself then, pal ;:-)

  • has anyone else noticed that the related videos has a link to a video about a robotic vagina.... O.o

  • @Niberial I don't have that, but I have one of a battle between an iPhone and a Furby toy.

  • storm is better

  • @jamesthewizard98 Rough sex with Zooey Deschanel is also better than this. That doesn't mean this isn't funny as hell.

  • That opening joke...

  • It's not childish to laugh uncontrollably at "AHHAHA! Ho-mo! aaahhahahha! HO-MO"

    .. Is it? :'D

  • yes minchin is a ridiculously talented pianist. But Elton elton is actually very excellent. But he plays rock n roll / ballad on the piano! Not this kind of stuff! If you want to compare Tim with someone, compare him to a jazz pianist.

  • @FutureAbe Like Eldar Djangirov? Tim is talented in many forms of piano. He doesn't really specialise in a particular type.

  • @FutureAbe I would rather compare him to every other pianist in history. In the comparison I can honestly say he is the best i have ever heard.

  • Im a huge Tim Minchin fan, but im also a Elton John fan and Im at a loss.... What is the song he is playing at 5:16? Thanks

  • @jesseianogle Ive been searching now for 4 hours!!!! Its called Song for a guy and its just a instrumental song!

  • Bogan stock broker?

  • i typed mitsubishi colt to search bar and this was on top. some faith in humanity has been restored

  • Twenty years from now this will be playing over the end credits of the film they made about Tim's life. Unless, you know, the world ends before that.

  • That ending was just so clever

  • this reaslly does prove that Tim's hands are a separate entity to the rest of his body

  • what DVD is this off, anybody know?

  • @alastairburton It's On 'Tim Minchin So Live' :)

  • And of Tom Lehrer, also Vatican Rag, Pollution, and National Brotherhood Week. And Poisoning Pigeons In The Park.

  • What accent? He just speaks properly.

  • @jessmindahful He as an Australian accent :)

  • @ferris5150 It's the separation of both sides of the brain.....something VERY hard to do, but is a virtue to be able to do in the music world, as Mr. Minchin shows here.

    and he's exceptional at it.

Singing and playing in time is hard enough, let alone with such syncopation.

  • His finger clicking is amazing, ah, pure love for Mr Minchin.

  • 14 people are stockbrokers

  • what elton john song is that, the one he plays when the stockbroker says you can be as good as elton john

  • @IndritDaci1 Rocketman

  • @IndritDaci1 "Song For Guy"

  • "I don't call myself a sanger."

Funny, though with his accent, I thought he said "singer" first.

  • simply fantastic.

  • This man is an artist!! He is musically, poetically, comically..GENIUS!!!...not to mention pretty cute too!

  • i love how he has to empherise the australian accent of the stockbroker. :DD

  • Holy shit, that's impressive!!

  • If only Elton John were as good as Liberace - he would be one tenth as good as Tim Minchin. But I guess that being a father has blown his candle out.

  • @teddyboy32 tim's a father? :L

  • @ShrimpyBoy101 yupp, he has two kids i think:P

  • @ShrimpyBoy101 Check out Tim Minchin - Lullaby

  • @billypony brilliant song!

  • I hope one day I can play Piano as good as Tim Minchin

  • he is just awesomely, ridiculously good. (And elton couldn't play the first 8 bars of this)

  • 1 guy who commented is following an almost traditionalized practice on youtube by posting a joke in form of an assumption that is based on no actual knowledge, about people disliking a video, which has suceeded in entertaining him, which gave him the will to share his happiness aswell as the fact that he cannot understand people disliking, what he likes and therefore he combines these two points into one singular post, which, looking at the"like" count is regarded good. -Like it too. :D

  • @rougseth he totally does. I've thought that since I first found out about him, he's so talented.

  • Haha reforms like terminator 2!

  • 13 people are shitting me now

  • HOMO! Haha! HOMO! Haha! HOMO! Haha!..... HOMO! Haha..

  • The Elton John thing is like telling Shirley Bassey that one day she may be as good a singer as Cher Lloyd...

  • im a sanger

  • Tim Minchin is ridiculously creative and talented. The guy's a force of nature. I cannot get enough.

  • I HAVE A Mitsubishi Colt

  • homo. HAHA! HOMO. HAHA!

  • "I don't call myself a sanger"

    =)

  • Someone asked what Elton John song he plays at the end. It's "Song for Guy".

  • Gawdd! there can't be anything better than that!

  • he's a great sanger aswell

  • HE SAID MY FUCKING NAME.

  • @DoomBitches

    Hey Jim...

  • @soooyeahhh So close, but yet so far away. It's Danielle :3

  • @DoomBitches

    Haha yes so close :)

  • I don't think Tim and Elton should be mentioned in the same sentence

  • Jim is awesome!

  • @zoerickard

Are you aware of how much more dificult it is to perform a beatpoem and play at the same time than it is to sing a song and play at the same time? A beatpoem (this one, and many others) has no sense of following the same rythm as the melody he plays, as opposed to a normal song which usually had at least the same basic rythm and the same key as the melody beneath it. Keeping track of two different rythms at the same time, i don't think it would prove him unprofessional in the least

  • "Jim-"

    [growl] "Tim..."

    Love that bit.

  • 12 People ARE Elton John

  • @jamisicus haha

  • i wish i was as poor as Tim fuckn hell =D

  • I think he's the best piano player I've ever seen...how can he so casually mingle the music with his voice? It's amazing!

  • @Gerbilsftw He is amazing -- but it's an art and tradition that's been around a while. Check out some old Tom Lehrer stuff -- I suggest "We will all go together when we go". A different era, different concerns, but the same fluency at the piano and with the crafting of language. Tim Minchin has acknowledged him as an inspiration and model.

  • Tim is god.

  • Brilliant ...

  • Unbelievable that he never looks at the piano. Just incredible. His humor and lyricism overshadow just how good a pianist he is.

  • @CHTis87 lol he looked at the piano at 1.00... And ... he's a professional pianist. Do you have to watch the glass as you bring it to your mouth to drink? Nope, you've practiced that enough! lol

  • @zoerickard you evidently know nothing about playing piano

  • Obvious troll is obvious.

Take a glance at any concert, with any of the worlds greatest pianists. Some of them will even stare at their keys, and you point out he glances down once in a while.

    I'm not really impressed.

  • @SutlinHE Not impressed at Tims amazingness?

  • @zoerickard I am a gamer to I see were you got that logic. but a controller has like 10 buttons and they are in diffrent spots and all feel different. a piano has more that 30 I am sure ( no idea but I am sure more than that) and they are all pretty much the same. its not even close to the same. and if you don't game... then yeah your just a normal run of the mill retard.

  • @FanBoy2113 The logic comes from spending the past 4 years watching student pianists at my city's conservatorium (university level music school), its come from watching my best friend practice a song/piece so often that she can quite literally play the piece with her eyes closed, while drinking (when its at a 1 hande bit) etc. Minchin would've practised these pieces until he knew them off by heart, and then performed them nightly, so yeah, I think he doesn't need to look to play it perfect.

  • @zoerickard According to Tim himself, most of his stuff is improvised, sure you can practice but it's not the same thing as playing from sheets. And about looking at the keys - I think he looked at the keys just cause it felt natural taken that he had nothing to do with the microphone for those ten seconds.

  • Ha ha! Homo!

    Ha ha! Homo!

xD I love how he pronounces that :D

  • Elton John is not an impressive pianist. Sure, his music makes loads of money, but it doesn't impress fellow musicians - and he's not trying to. Elton John is a singer/songwriter. Not a concert pianist. Comparing Elton John to Tim Minchin is like comparing Tom Petty to Steve Vai.

  • Whoever Tim was talking to was just amazingly good at choosing the exact wrong things to say.

  • Dude, what's with the Elton John dis?

  • @MrZardoz777 It's a joke about how old ladies (and people who don't actually play piano) seem to think Elton is a fabulous pianist...he really isn't. Tim is on the other hand an AMAZING pianist and the contrast with Elton John is an insult

  • @tommysdaman Dude, I understand the concept of irony, I'm just saying Elton's a good musician who doesn't deserve to be the object of that kind of dismissive joke. We live in an age of total mediocrity; there's no shortage of talentless hacks to criticize.

Tim's a first-rate musician, but . . . write an album half as good as Captain Fantastic is all I can say.

  • @MrZardoz777 yea but elton john's not that great a pianist, he doesn't even try to be, he's a singer/songwritter

  • HAHA HAHA HAHA he's shitting me now.

I actually do this to people now, thanks tim(a)

  • Mitsubishi Colt is brilliant. I really love it. Brilliant!! Well done.

  • Some one HELP!!! My girl and I watched a bunch of Tim you tubes on my Droid and there was one where he was on a stage in a big hall and we can't remember what the song was , because we watched so many that afternoon, but we couldn't help but still have the seemingly long, piano only bit at the end. It was absolutely mind blowing and I had the phrase "gang rape" arise in my mind when thinking of how to describe what I saw Mr. Minchin do to that piano. drewdels@gmail.com

  • @drewdels54 can you remember any of the verse? that might help. If not, just try the usual Dark Side, inflatable You, Rock n Roll Nerd, Some People have it worse than me, Ten Foot Cock

  • He's the 8th Wonder of the World <3

I absolutely love it when at 2:54 he bangs the keys in time with his words. :P

  • thumbs up if you know someone as cunt-assed as that stockbroker!

  • Are amazin ( hit post by accident)

  • Tim minchin beat poems

  • Isn't it funny how the two top comments are THE SAME. Just thought I'd point it out. BTW TIM MINCHIN actually IS GOD!

  • @monkeymash1 I was thinking the exact same thing :)

  • Just fuckin brilliant.

  • 10 people are bad at grammer

  • @MJlover3307 *grammar.

  • @WeAteTheChildren LOLOLOLOL

  • @WeAteTheChildren my bad

  • i would be happy for tim minchin to punch me....

  • 10 people that watched this video are stockbrokers.

  • @mono1geek stock-breakers*

  • @mono1geek They were stockbrakers.

  • @mono1geek Stockbreakers* :D

  • They should animate this one.

  • what elton john song is that i cant place my finger on it

  • @TheGerdakaBM Aren't they all pretty much the same four chords?

  • @TheGerdakaBM Song for Guy, from the album A Single Man.

  • He looks at me intensely Eyes contact lens green with artifical envy Cocks his head and fixes me with a condescending stare Flicks his bleached, blond tipped hair And theorises thus: "You know what I reckon?" Pause for effect Adjusts his tackle as if it's semi-erect I feel I'd better give him what I know he expects: "What do you reckon?" A hand on the shoulder An avuncular wink Sips his lemon drink Spits out the pips Hands on hips Licks his lips Like a wolf near a flock...
  • This guy is just awesome, this is such a great piece! IMHO TIm is the best comedian in the world :)

  • I love the voice and accent he gives the stockbroker

  • "I don't call myself a sanger"

  • @DaveTheSOM TROLL ahhhaha

    fuck you

  • @DaveTheSOM TROLL ahhhaha

your obviously a stock broker, FUCK YOU

  • @666qwerty1 that's what he was saying. The stockbroker calls him Jim even though his name is Tim.

  • @bernardhamhat Actually, what started all this Jim/Tim comments was a guy with the comment "I love Jim Minchin, he's such a great sanger", which is obviously a take on the song, but someone didn't quite get that :)

  • I think we've learnt a valuable lesson. Never compare anyone's ability to play the piano to Elton John. Or Tim Minchin for that matter, but for completely different reasons.

  • 8 people are stock-brokers...

  • If I was in the audience I would of that the song was called Mitsubishi Cult.

  • He's a genius <3

  • 8 peoples tackle are semi-erect

  • Homo! HAHA!

    Homo!! HAHA!

    HOMO! HAHA!!

  • @krua32

    its Tim Minchin

    not jim :/

  • @gantok2 He knows that...listen to the song and he mentions that 1. he doesnt call himself a SANGER.

and 2. The stock broker calls him JIM in the song, krua32 was simply making an observation, and as you can see got 115 thumbs up.

  • @wefyb3

Did it hurt to have to explain that?

I think that I would have typed it with my heart at my feet.

    "Thick as two bricks"

    *sigh*

  • @gantok2 Did you listen to the song? The pr0ndude calls him Jim..

  • @tsjaaaa wow dude his name Tim, in the song Tim says "Jim" because the wanker got his name wrong.. if you listen at that point you can hear tim say " 'Jim.' '*underbreath* Tim' "

  • I'll tell you, Tim plays the piano better than Elton John.

  • @rougseth With ease.

  • I once called Tim Minchin Jim in a dream :/

Yeah, I meet celebrities in dreams.

  • Did anyone else notice that at 2:53 he's playing the end of "Prejudice/Taboo"?

  • FUCK I LOVE BOOBS THOUGH

  • @TweekDash I JUST REALLY LOVE THEM

  • @flamehead673 I DON'T REALLY MIND IF I AM BEHIND, BELOW, OR ABOVE...EM

  • @flamehead673 Fuck I love boobs though. I just wanna hug them.

  • wow great on the piano

  • His piano is propped open by a massive screwdriver.

  • Fantastic. & an absolute genius on the piano.

  • The lick at 2:53 sounds like the end of Prejudice - "That only a ginga can call another ginga, ginga!"

I listen to too much Tim Minchin. :-p

  • @emu69emu So true! It really does sound like it :)

  • There are 8 stock brokers in the audience

  • HOMO

  • @hedonism13 Married to his first girlfriend. Eyeliner doesn't make someone gay. EG Johnny Depp. :)

  • @gcalvanetten

No he didn't He broke up with one and then met her. Listen to his song 'If I didn't have you'

  • @gcalvanetten

I don't even remember making the comment.

  • accidental alliteration is awesome

  • that...was just ridiculous! :| in a good way x

  • Kind of looks like a blonde Russell Brand.

  • @dbbonecrusher he is ginger.

  • @chrisbaker91 Well then, he kind of looks like a ginger Russell Brand.

  • @dbbonecrusher no he doesnt?

  • I can hear just a little bit of White Wine in the Sun at the end there...
