  • my golf cart has the same batteries

  • the weight of the batteries is killing the X1/9..it's a brilliant sports car because it's super light weight and well balanced...adding 900#'s of batteries just F@^*%d it up!!!

I can almost understand why you want to go electric, but seriously pay the extra money for the light weight lithium batteries or keep the 1.5liter motor... My 84 X!/9 got over 40 mpg and I hotrodded it all day long!!! so why would you ever need something different????

  • nice conversion. I always thought a spitfire would be a great conversion

  • That would be a good car for a electric coversion...Along with the Triumph Spitfire, Yugo, AMC Pacer or Grimlin, Fiat Spyder,...I,d really like to see someone Electrify a big land yacht, like a '82 Lincoln Continental...Or som' tin...

  • sweet car! i don't get the neg comments. i can't even bare to drive noisy dirty smelly 15% efficient cars anymore. Electric cars are the future - writing's on the wall.

  • @sockosockosocko yes, but how annoying if you forget to plug it in, then try to get to work the next morning. You would be better running a small diesel generator to power the motor. It makes far more sense as it would also charge batteries. battery technolgy has a long way to go - but it's being held back.

  • @urbex2007 couldn't disagree more. how often do forget to charge your phone? for me a phone is just as important as my car and *somehow* we've learned to charge them. diesel generator is more stuff to carry and i'm done using oil/gas. i have over 6000 miles on my conversion. battery packs are now capable of 300 mile range and very short quick charge times. you have normal questions but i propose they're driven by fear, uncertainty and doubt. for longer trips use other car or rent one.

  • ahh, thats horable, why would you do that to a sporty car go buy some damn gee wiz insted of ruining a great car. that must be horable to drive with all that weight.

  • @Raph406 very often the converted electric car outperforms the original gas engine. these conversions make gas cars redeemable. dirty smelly inefficient heaters on wheels.

  • give me one! example. Electric motors are much better and more efficient, but batteries do not store enough energy, also batteries are toxic and heavy and get worn out. This is beside the point the Fiat X/19 was designed to be powered by a small lightweight gasoline engine. not to have it weighed down by 2000 lbs of batteries, its a sports car. it should deserve better than to be forever plagued by big boxes of lead sitting in it.

  • @Raph406 please get your facts straight - it's more likely to be 1000 lbs if lead-acid... but these days it's cheaper over time to go with lithium batteries which means perhaps 400 lbs. and MOST of those conversions accelerate better than the original gas version. in a quick look online i found this: evalbum(dot)com/3210 and youtube "white zombie datsun" ...do your own homework.

  • oooooh sorry 1000lbs. do my homework? also not only does weight ruin economy, it ruins performance braking, handling and safety. What happens when the small supply of lithium we do have runs out? there is a very small supply of lithium. 400lbs is still alot of weight. Have you ever priced what that many lithium ion batteries would cost? Lithium mines are extremely environmentally costly including the processing of it. There is no reason to convert these nice old classic cars to electric.

  • @Raph406 my car, with the added weight is still the lightest car in my neighborhood. still easily passes inspection . i'm tired of your ill-informed arguements.. all the best.

  • im gonna punch youtube in the face

  • Interesting almost unappealing but amusing song

  • I am a X1/9 enthusiast, this is only my point of veiw, so please don't kill me for it: - OH NO NO NO! This is a sports car, not a milk float. This has killed the car compleatly, the lively motor and handling is what make X's sooo much fun. This is a ghastly crime of the worst kind.

    (only my opinion)

  • lol ... my second car was an x1/9 so i can relate. thanks for commenting!

  • @autouniondkw102 milk floats do 65 mph? i bet it has better acceleration now than before...

  • @autouniondkw102

    i agree

    fiat did not plan it

X1 / 9 was to be a sport and what sport car it was , quite advanced for their time thats not right a electric X1/9?

I just want to kill somebody :7

  • @gancalojorgemelo I feel the same.

  • @autouniondkw102 Do you actually know that some electric conversions are really fast little cars. White Zombie is the fastest on the drag strip and holds records due to how fast it is.

  • try using the car with optima yellow tops lol

  • Song please?

  • We Electric. Its a YouTube audio swap since they pulled "Electricty". Click their ad button in the video for full details.

  • Thanks!

  • Yeah but my X was getting 35-40 mpg anyway. Couldn't imagine 900 pounds of batteries help the handling.

  • but how cost?

how miles runs on one charge?

    how time to charge?

    and km/h pleeease

  • Sorry ... wish we knew more, but the owner didn't have time for an interview. I do remember him saying he got from 25 to 50 miles on charge depending on how he drove. Higher speeds drain the batteries quicker, and he topped out around 50. Thanks for asking!

  • nice..

  • its good, but there are tons of ways to make it last longer

  • ???Km/Kw.H

  • As much as I tried to get more info on this car, the owner had no time for a full interview. :-(

Perhaps he had to go plug in! ;-)

  • Wow. It's so quiet. See if you can find someone with a hydrogen/gas hybrid car (non-commercial).

  • Right, just not parked next to this one.
