Good luck with your decision. What are you looking to do with the fixed blade? Some options (Field pup) are more utility and some are harder use (ESEE 4)... depends on what you want! I have a Spyderco Moran Orange up for sale too ;p

@TheLazySpoiledKitty Hmm, the SP 43 is 8"... for the 8" category I like the SP 49.. more belly drop pt, less spear pt, hollow grind vs the full flat... I haven't chopped with either so I'm not sure if it would really be better at chopping. I just like the looks of the SP 49 better :) The SP 43 looks more like a kill knife

it all depends on what you want to use it for... heavy duty id go with the becker but if its just light utility use go with the kabar 1211

You already have an Izula so an ESEE 3 / RC-3 is not very different - unless you want to collect every ESEE for some reason. So I would say go with the KaBar or the the Becker. Traditional Kabar cant go wrong but the Becker is probably a better shape for wood chopping and bataaning if that will be your main use. I'm waiting for the Cold Steel Leatherneck SF which looks like a great combination of the traditional KaBar with a full-flat-grind and quality steel

I would tanke the ESEE 3 from your choise.

It has a great Garantee and a very good quality!

However, I would buy the ESEE4, this knife is some bigger, but small enough to carry it. (It´s also legal in Germany, without carry-restrictions)

I got that knife, it is just great!

So my vote: ESEE 3 or 4!

If you want a knife, that will outlive you. One that makes 95% of new knives look like your little sister would carry, and just the most bad ass knife IMO...

go with the 1211 Ka-Bar man. You wont regret it. There is a reason it was given to troops for so long. It is my #1 choice.

This is hard, what is the use for the knife? If you get the 7inch Ka-Bar, get it with the Glass Filled Nylon sheath (e.g. 5011). I've no experience with the BK5 but I do love my BK2 so I'm sure it would be a good blade, and better for wilderness use. I have the Ontario RAT 3, great little blade. I also have the Field Pup, great blade, and amazing value. Hmm... my advice is get an Ontario SP43, 8 inch FFG blade in 5160 steel, and relatively light to carry. Happy shopping :)

Other thoughts:

I'd get the ESEE over the Ontarios, just on principle. I suggest a HEST fixed blade or an ESEE 4 over the ESEE 3/ RAT 3. Why? the 4 has a thicker blade, and the HEST has a more comfortable handle. Take your pick.

Ka Bar has come out with a new mini series of knives called ZK for zombie killers though I do not think they would kill zombies all that well they look awesome and they are pretty inexpensive. -Vincent

You didn't mention whether or not you had a specific purpose for the knife chosen. You have showed one classic and a bunch of good solid knives. Many classic knives are no longer available, but the American classic Kabar is still produced. You owe it to yourself to add a Kabar to your collection. my 2 cents

The 3 and 4 are pretty similar... 4 is a smidge bigger and thicker but both are excellent all around knives! I love that orange handle on the 3 you showed! Saweeet!

If you're looking for a good camp knife, i'd go with an ESEE-4. Not much more expensive than the 3, but that little bit of extra length lets you baton larger stuff. excellent quality and edge out of the box. OR The new Cold Steel Leatherneck SF. Flat ground bowie with kabar styled handle, looks awesome.

Go for the ESEE-3 with the orange handle scales (btw, there's a newer version with orange G10 instead of Micarta!). I own the knife myself and I love it. I will eventually do a review on it, most likely it will be a comparison between the ESEE-3 and the Enzo Trapper (another great knife!).
