not bad, may i recommend moving your whole kit closer together? also, tighten your cymbals, and i also recommend lessons, learning rudiments will make you a lot better, work on your timing too, but not bad for 11 years old.

I could not move the chair any closer, Cody is too small. Between the Snare Stand, Bass and Hi Hat Peddles this is the best I could do for him. These cymbals are there to make him reach for speed. Rudiments have been in his lessons since he was 8. He also reads music very well. Check out his setup on his "12 year old drummer Cody" video. He has grown a little and plays a Swingstar now. 4 inches larger than this Stagestar Bass Drum and the Toms are deeper.

He was playing for about 2 years and was working with his second drum teacher Chicky Regan. His first teacher Donnie Vosberg taught him for a year and was great but did alot of studio recording and worked with a Funk Band and Metal Band he started in the 80s Sacred Sword. So I changed teachers for a more stable schedule. His third teacher was Neil Gaarthly from The Academy of Drums. Doug Martin works with Cody now for over a year. He graduated from Berkly.

i started when i was 7 and just practiced my lessons. my first set was a first act set from toys r us. my dad got me the tama set when i was 8.

Cody had only been playing for about a couple of years when I recorded this. But he practiced his lessons. He had no choice. He had to practice for 15 to 20 minutes or go to the ball field which he hated. So he practiced. He has so much energy anyway. If your kid has alot of energy this is great for him or her. They have to concentrate on the music reading and if they love the instrument they will start doing it themselves.

God he was 10 then and the 8 inch tom I now know he didnt even need. The cymbals were a ZBT Zildjian pack. He just played this by me saying play something. Check out his videos "11 year old drummer cody rocks tama drums zildjian cymbals" He now uses Zildjian K and A customs. He uses 2 floor toms now and 12 and 13 inch tom toms. He is also learning the double bass peddle. I got him the Iron Cobra....I really should take this old video off....He is 12 now and you should see him now..Rob
