  • this is a great idea... excellent video

  • Thats awesome

  • I absolutely love this video! I want a go-Pro and a better rc plane! totally cool man!

  • i need to try this with my t28!

  • this is probably the most boss video i've ever seen.

  • @supersurfliner Thanks ... it is pretty boss!

  • LOL that would be fun to do :D

  • Great video ! Nice flying too

  • BAD

    ASS

    VIDEO!!!!!

  • you tend to feel a bit sick after a while, but this is one of the coolest videos I've seen here on youtube with regards to these hobbies!

  • Wow i never have seen nothing like this. Its cool. What station appears at the beggining??

  • I luv'd the vid, just as it is! :O)

  • that is so cool! i would love to have a plane with a camera, yet alone a rc plane! :D

  • @TheBrushbat They are as close as your closest hobby shop. Just get a good trainer plane so you don't crash on your first attempt.

  • @AllenRockwell Yeah are these planes flimsy at all? I wouldnt want one crash to result in a broken plane :c

  • that was awesome! next time go head on with the train then swoop up at the last second!

  • Amazing vid! How did you not get bugged by the police/security though, I mean even a foamer like me would be a little suspicious about a guy flying a model plane that close to a train.

  • Now that is wicked!

  • Dude...next time try a "touch n go" on a container! Good not to mess with the engineers though a strafe run on the cab would be cool at least once! LOL!

  • Based on the shadow at 1:28, it looks like you're flying a Stryker?

  • thats so sick! if u get more practice u should fly right next to the cabs window of the trains! see wat the drivers think!

  • nice vid, cool flying over the trains.

  • dang nice movie. I wish I could afford a camera RC plane big enough to fly like that. then if I had one I wish I could fly it.

  • get a gryo for the camera to stabilize the video or take some flying lessons.

  • @stevekatkus Thanks for telling me what to do. 1. I do not want a gyro for the camera. 2. I've been flying RC for over 30 years, while I am not the best pilot in the world I have not found too many people that could teach me anything I do not already know.

The reason the video does not look smooth is that it was shot with a very small plane flying in very high wind conditions.

Now I'm off to go view your inflight videos to see how good you are.

  • @stevekatkus I just went to go look at your awesome inflight videos but I could not find them. Could you please let me know where they are? You must have some, otherwise why would you be telling me to get take some flying lessons?

  • @AllenRockwell You may find my inflight videos by starting searching under myvideos being listed as "A day flying somewhere in the desert in the US Army"

  • @stevekatkus I just watched your video/slideshow. First off you get major respect for serving your country (as I did in the Arny in '83-'86), but what does that video looking out the window of a Sherpa have to do with RC flying or RC inflight video? I fail to see the connection.

  • lol you need a uav predator drone :p

  • WIN!!!

  • Awesome Video 5*

  • i thought of the same idea.. Im a television producer and we did a similar camera platfrom concept aerial camera platform for a Gold Coast GOLF tournament.. HINT slow the plane down to close to stall speed, use a gryoscope to stablilse the camera mounting and always approach the subject with the sun to the planes back drop me a line and ill tell you more

    John Amundsen vikingwarrior1@hotmai.com

  • @7nordic Yah, this is the wrong plane for the mission. Stall speed on this plane is still pretty fast. And as far as gyro stabilizing the camera mount, the camera mount is a small bit of velcro stuck to the plane .... not too easy to stabilize that :) This was a super low tech operation.

I'm thinking of perhaps getting something in the future like a motorglider that I can fly slowly and smoothly and fitting it with some sort of camera mount that is connected to at least one servo/gyro.

  • freaking awesome!

  • Pretty amazing Allen. The ultimate rail-fanning "Go Anywhere" accessory - total access pass. Please, more videos like this one. "Like" and a fave.

  • Ummmm, added to favorites...

  • now just go ahead and land that baby on top of it. lol

  • lol u should have landed on top of the intermodal containers

  • I've always wanted to do this with an R/C Helicopter. I like a birds-eye-view of the trains!! how did you equip a camera to the plane???

  • looks real

  • @DrPilotRedC Ummm, it is real. What part do you think is not real.

  • That's cool!

  • Cool Video it looked like you got really close to those wind turbines I clenched :)

  • Pause at 46 seconds: what is the black spot in front of the sun?

  • That is just something this camera does when it encounters something that bright ... it just gives up and puts black there instead of color.

  • So cool!! But crazy what if you hit the train?LOL

  • The plane is made of foam ... I'm pretty sure the train would be fine.

  • That's awesome. 5***** and favorite.

  • Fantastic! 5*****!

Very Entertaining! I got a good chuckle out of this.

I do hope your plane is OK, though (the way it landed at the end........OUCH!)

  • cool video

  • Careful you don't get reported as a terrorist buzzing trains! VERY cool video!

    Five Stars!

  • i did this once. It smashed the window. I ran...

  • Comment removed

  • sweet

  • now that is a awesome idea! lol 200 stars man!

  • Pretty cool. I landed my Blade 400 on the nose of a train once. Of course it was stopped and I was the conductor.

  • Thats genious!!!

  • dude u should do that again but closer to the train!!!!

  • you should of landed on the train!

  • Awesome!

  • way cool yp

  • awesome

  • You should have flown it by the engineer. Imagine: "Okay dispatcer, i will get... WTF!"

  • MY! MY! "Gutsy", aren't you?! :)

  • WOW thats really awesome!! try and land on the train lol

  • I thought about it... but this plane is a hand launch plane so I'd be stuck there and would not get my plane back :)

  • I soon suspect that soon you will have some hirailer gear afixed to your landing gear. Do you just simply have... too much free time on your hands.

    this is hot stuff,

  • SkipW,

Aside from the fact that my employer decided that he could reduce his payroll expenses (and my annual income) by 10% by closing the shop every other friday, I don't think I have any more free time than anyone else. ....Just evenings and weekends. I just refuse to fall into that American stereotype of siting on the sofa with one hand on the TV remote control and one hand holding a beer, I'd rather go out and do something.

  • Agreed 110% to the last sentence....

[.....I just refuse to fall into that American stereotype of siting on the sofa with one hand on the TV remote control and one hand holding a beer, I'd rather go out and do something] !

That's me, too! I just never believed in that sitting around watch TV stuff. :-)

    Great Video, too! 5*****!

  • Great! I like it!

  • Very cool, what plane/camera setup are you using here? shadow looked a bit like a B-2?

  • The plane is a ParkZone Stryker F-27C ... not my usual style of plane but it's a durable, go anywhere kinda plane that I'm not scared to thrown in the air no matter where I am.

The camera is a FlyCamOne2 mounted on the underside of the plane in a special mount that I made to protect it when I land.
