i'm looking for a country's beautiful cultural dance for our united nation's dance contest. and i guess i spotted one. please send me the music you used. thank you.
its awesome!! We had a culminating here at the phil. and were representing korean trad. culture! This is nice! Do you think, where can I download the background music? Please?:(
if I was there I'd be whoooing too!! lol! how else can you express how excitingly beautiful something like this is??!! I'd be sad to be on stage in America and people didn't whoo...cuz that's part of our culture and all I know lol! whooooooooo go girls go!!! seriously beautiful
The first time I saw this when i went to visit Korea, I loved it!
Next time there's a basketball game in my school, instead of doing "The Wave" I'm going to get a few friends and do the Catterpillar-esque thing they did! ;)
i just wanted to know if the performers have actually learned korean dance before. i admire that they are doing korean traditional dance, of course, because not many people know it but it doesn't seem like the style of korean dance. it looks too sharp and not as graceful. because i also learned and performed this dance for many years and seen it.
@SilverChevalier well seeing how this was done at Wheaton College campus in Wheaton Illinois, and Illinois is an American State. I think it's safe to say, yes those are americans in the background sounds. And while some countries do have traditions, that doesn't mean they don't have their own black sheeps that would would do the same thing. May not be common, but possible. And also, not all americans are white. There are some of other ethnic decent. They just happened to be from America.
@SilverChevalier We have the Native Americans! What about them? And we do have traditional American culture- Bluegrass, Jazz (And all the Jazz dances that go along with it), clogging and Square Dancing are American. Saying woo is like saying Opa, or hurray, or yippie, it's not ment to be insulting, but a form of expressing your excitment. I'm not saying I agree with the guy in this video wooing- this is not the type of thing to get all excited like that over...
@Alexwa13 not to sound in offensive tone, but technically speaking, native americans are not part of american tradition. Why did americans droved n.a. off from their lands and took away their homes? did they tried to conserve n.a. history? also, if it's indeed part of american tradition, do 'you' have any idea about ancient native american tradition? do you know it by your heart? do you parents tell you about it? or have you seen any americans learning traditional dance of n.a.?
@Alexwa13 besides, this type of woo-ing is clearly not a form of excitement. It's a type of 'you suck and since nobody cares, i'll woo for you.' It's a sound of mockery.
@memikell that is typical western way of showing that they feel great - namely, showing that they, as the audience, feel great. They do this everywhere and think it is universal ^^
@memikel I think they're all amateurs not professional dancers. It seems they're all students at Wheaton college and this probably is a small festival for east asian students so I think the people shouting "whoo" things are friends of the dancers they're just enjoying the moment
What song did is playing in the background? My students at my elementary school did a similar fan dance, but my video editing process removed the music and I need to DL new stuff.
hi iam mohammad from saudi arabia i would say to you i love korea from all deep of my heart and all koran people is my brother(I Love The great people of the Han) i love your customs and traditions i love any thing in korea and I want you to become my friend
the Koreans copy this dance from the Chinese long long time ago!!! when one of their royalties visit china, and show them a performance of a fan dance they decided to create their own when they get home... later the Japanese copied it too!!!
국악 (gook ack) its a broad category that includes all traditional songs (even songs written recently can go into this category long as its written in this style). Gook ack literally means country's music/enjoyment

Nilririya (a Korean folksong) in English.
I recommend you 김용임-유지나 - 닐리리야' s version.

ok, i'm not white people hater or anything....but i just want to say:
asian nations have traditions. european nations have traditions. south american nations have tradition. even canada has its own traditions
and what do america have? only traditional food they have is steak. Piece of meat cooked for only few minutes.
so to those who are 'wooh'ing in the background -i assume it's americans-, they don't have any authority to do so.
