  • i think u could do with more rock but other than that is awesome

  • @AwesomeAssassin1000 I have more rock in my refugium. I took a lot of it now because I wanted a "cleaner" look in the tank with more open space for the fish to swim.

  • would you ever add a lion fish??? or a snow flake eel? im ordering a long horn cow fish next week ohhhh waaa..... lol

  • @derek15476 I like lion fish but I can't keep them because of the smaller fish I have in my tank. I would rather get a zebra eel then a snowflake because Snowflakes will try to eat fish at night and zebra eels don't. Cow fish are really cool. The only thing with them is if they get stressed or if the water quality is bed, the release a toxic into the water and that could kill all the fish. That is the reason why i don't keep one but besides that, I think they are really neat fish.

  • cheers i will look foward to the new video. yeah the fx5 is too big but i will just use it for water movement and bio filtration . if i was to use fiter wool in the fx5 it would clog up ever week and you noo how hard it is too clean(the pump is at the bottom of the fx5) so you dont have crushed coral sand. ? i have a lot of waste in the coral sand. how is your ph with not having crushed coral .

  • @derek15476 I don't use crushed coral. I have regular sand in my tank. My pH is at 8.2.

  • i only added the eheim filter this week and the fx5 did not have any fine filter wool,it was not catching any waste , so it was only good for water movement and bioalogical filtration .. do you have a lot of waste in the coral sand??? maybe that is my problem , cheers

    delboy

  • @derek15476 I don't have any waste on my sand or around my rocks. Everything is always circulatingso it goes through all my filters, refugium, and skimmer. I have a filter sock by my skimmer that helps catch floating debris. I will take another video soon and this time I'll show you my filtration setup. I had the fx5 before too and didn't like it at all so I sold it and replaced it with a refugium. It just took up space and did nothing.

  • 81 gallons, yellow tang ,bicolor angel, french angel, banner fish, small clown, and bicolor bleeny,. fx5 filter, and eheim 2215, 400 tmc skimmer . not a lot of fish as you can see . what am i missing ? i just added filter wool , that made a lot of difference.

    what do you think???

  • @derek15476 You do have good filtration. Try adding a uv sterilizer and refugium with chaeto. They help a lot with algae problems and keeping nutrients down.

  • i dont use ro water as well., im in scotland so the tds reading is very low. i have started using filter floss and that has made a big difference . i cant believe how good your tank is , no algae problems . i added a small porcupine puffer to my tank and the algae started growing .. come on tell is how you do it lol..

  • @derek15476 What size tank do you have and what is your stock list? what filtrations do you have running? As you can see from the video, I have a lot of big fish and they all produce a ton of waste but I have a good filtration system set up to help keep algae and nutrients down.

  • @viper1001001 If you don't have a good filtration system setup for the amount of fish you have, that could be a problem with the algae. UV sterilizer helps a lot I think with that.

  • do you think ro water is needed for a fowlr ???? cheers for all the help

  • @derek15476 I honestly have never used RO water. For a reef you should but it depends on your city water if you can use tap water or not.

  • what size? hows hard is the clown tang to keep?

  • @wiifan62 what size is what? clown tang isn't that hard to keep once it starts eating. Its just picking the algae off the rocks right now so I'm glad its eating something.

  • cheers for the reply , right i have 81 gallon fowlr , fx5 filter and a eheim 2215 . tmc 400 skimmer , yellow tang , banner fish , french angel , bicolor angel, small clown and bicolor bleeny. . is it the skimmer that needs up graded ? cheers

  • @derek15476 I don't know much about skimmers but I know octopus are good skimmers. I have a SRO 3000 internal skimmer. Rated for up to 350 gallons so it does a good job for a smaller heavily stocked tank.
