...I did all of this, and I just got a draugr overlord, not the shade.. I got the helm of winterhold, but no helm of Yngol. On top of all of that, the iron gate/door in front of the throne won't open. I guess theres a quest I have to take beforehand or something?

How weird, when I enter the cave it is darker than usual (I mean than in the video) and the bit of light in it is blurred, making all this harder to go through. I can't open any interfaces nor can I use E for takin actions. Somehow this cave is randomly relative with the quest: The Break of Dawn. Perhaps that has changed it's condition!

@disturbedownzzzzzzz1 yes, save your game on a seperate save, turn off the console then turn it back on load your save up and things should be super and clear. Happened to me too, tbh not the worst glitch you could have.

I went there and found the Draugr, but that just meant for me that the helm was in the chest and the door wouldn't open. I'm level 22, btw, I think level balancing might have something to do with it.

Hey everyone, i found a way around. First time i got here i fought that overlord and yes, door was closed. All you need to do is backtrack your way to the entrance and head to the shore, when you find a snow bear, next to it is the door leading to the staris where that chest is. Not much of a reward though.

You know what sucks? I was level 46 when I first entered the Barrow, and I didn't fight the Shade, I fought a fuckin Dragon Priest. No Helmet was to be found, and the back door wouldn't open because of it. Bethesda needs to fix that.

For those not able to open the door: set the rings, activate the keyhole, and immediately after that quicksave, then quickload. The claw should appear and the door should go down. I was having the same problem, worked like a charm.

Looks to me like if you go to this dungeon at too high of a level the shade is replaced by a mob appropriate to your level. I got a Dragon Sorcery or some kinda shit, and since the mob changed from the shade, didn't get the helm which causes the door to open. The OP is level 13. Just an assumption but seems alot of folks are having troubles with it.

This cave has been linked to multiple quest lines. Therefore I submit to the players that the shade will only spawn on one of those quest lines. Because I was on a quest from the Yarl of Winterhold to get the Helm of winterhold, while another person said they were there on a quest from the bard college.
