  • Hey man great video. I really need some help, I am start to dj and was thinking to buy some speakers but i do not want to buy something useless. Can you tell which is better? Gemini or Mackie??

  • to do a good true sound comperisson beetwin the speakers you should keep all the eq's at the 12 oclock position on your mixer and the speakers to get a true proper sound

  • "they're not as horny as I though they were gonna be" lol nice vid

  • GREat video think will buy them because of yoU!

  • Hey Mike, could you tell me if either of these speakers are able to fill a gym?

  • @danesfeder I use 4 Ramsa's with 2 big QSC amps + 4 18 JBL for school gyms these would be to small great for small partys though

  • please help.. im interested in buying the thumps but my budget is low.. i want speakers that has a lot of sound, what should i get for around 700 dollars? from this vid seems the mackies doesnt punch that much sound.. thanks (sorry my english)

  • very great video man, lots of good information. i was actually looking for a small powered speaker system for real cheap, just for my lil office, for me to practice on. i have 6" passive jbl home theater bookshelves right now, i mean, they do the job, but i only push them for an hour at the very very most, i want something that'll punch and be able to stand for a while... i have a powered 10" sub that i use in my office, so im not worried about clipping them, they'll only get mid's and high's.

  • can you plug these speakers into a laptop headphone jack??

  • How can you connect subwoofers to speakers?

    Sorry I'm new to this.

  • @DJBRISK1 if they are powered subs you cust dazy chain the XLY audio line

    MM

  • Well that took a while.

  • AMAZING! It takes a lot for you to positively comment on a brand with such a bad reputation. You hit it on the nail with how many product lines re-brand the same Chinese Manufacturer. This isnt unique to the DJ industry and exists in almost all retail products. I had a similar moment when I discovered Behringer 2500 amps and how they fared against my Mackie amps.

  • Hey Mikey cool vid! I own a pair of Gemini GX-350 12 inch powered speakers (discontinued). For the $ they are great & have been using them for small gigs for about 3-4 years now without any issues! Gemini has surely stepped up there game!

Currently they have a model called the GVX series which are there highest end passive & powered series.. Check them out! Thanks buddy! Hope your doing well!

  • Good Video I have the Mackie Thump th 15a and they been very good . With the cliping light is not a issue with me because you to have your music recorded at the same output volume than adjust it with the mixer like normal. also make sure the EQ on the speakers are turn off. I use them for outdoor and indoor events and were surprise about the clear sound.

  • you're right about manufacturers using the same parts and sticking labels on them. i have the exact same speaker as your gemini... but mines not a gemini! i

  • Hey MM how hot do they get?

  • Hey MM how hot do they get?

  • Hey MM how hot do they get?

  • Thanks MM for the shout out for Gemini. I have the RS-415 & they're awesome even without my sub. I've used them for several gigs up to 300 people without having to push them to the max without any problems whatsoever. It's always good to go listen for yourself before you make a judgement about any speaker. That's what I did when I purchased my Gemini's and I haven't had one complaint about the quality of sound they produce. Gemini & Numark has come a long way. Change is good. Thanks Great video

  • Great video!

  • good detailed review thx mike.

  • hey mike Tim here,,, Nice VID i think those will work great for the ceremony/son's dorm parties for sure just make sure you take a can of scotch guard and spray all parts to repel the beer lol (it really works) and i cant help it but at 6:20 "they're not as horny as i thought they were gonna be" Mike, there never as horny as you think they are gonna be lol...keep it up buddy...(in a whisper voice) JBLSRX 725. Love ya!

    Tim, 2 Sound Productions.

  • love your opinion and how you gave it.,,,going to check out those geminis

  • he mm i need som help with an idea well as you know i have 2 rotoscaners 2 adj flash shot 2 led pars and a laser on a t bar but i am saving for a revo 3 should i buy 2 or just 1 ?

  • @ljmike1204 Hey, Tim here from 2 Sound Productions, for whats its worth ive used all of the lights you have mentioned above, so here it goes. Unless you have alot of haze the revos can look like little fireflies on the walls or dance floor kinda gets cheezy with no haze, I would strongly strongly recommend you look a ADJ TRI-Phase the TRI-Phase puts out BEAMS of color that really stand out and provide excellent "fill" among you roto's my personal opinion two TRI-Phases!!

  • @twveach well i have a 1200w fogger and i like the effeckt and how do you know the rotoscan from showtec,s fire storm serie ?

  • Great find Mickey! I respect you a lot for making this video man. I give mad respect for people who are willing to try things out for themselves and give "honest" feedback. I have a Gemini powered sub I purchased new earlier this year that kicks major ass! I do admit that I replaced the 18" speaker in it with a $400 Eminence though...hehehe. But still, the cabinet and amp in my Gemini are rock solid.

  • i give thumbs up to gemini to. i use gemini turntables in my house setup. pt2100 i won them on ebay and proform greatly.

  • You should of got a used pair of jbl eons. I love mine and wish i had another pair for a backup.

  • I've done a lot of research on the Thumps and from all that I have read they seem to work fine when the red clip light is on. every review I read said they never actually "clipped" with the red light on. As for the Gemini's for what you are using them they will suit you fine. A friend used the gemini powered 15's for gigs and he hated them. said he really couldn't pump them, they sounded distorted and would clip. He sold them and bought some Samsons.

Great Video, always Keeping us informed.

  • I used to have a pair of 12'' JBL speakers and a pair of 12'' Samsons for back up, and I found that at low volume the Samsons actually sounded better than the JBLs although I could push the JBLs louder but the Samsons were defiantly clearer and were half the price of the JBLs.

  • I have used a pair of Tapco Thumps for 3 years. (Same speaker, mackie owns tapco. It was their way of testing the line before they put their name on it.) I have to say i am impressed, although when the volume got to a comfortable level and no subs were used, the clip light came on immediately. I usually use them alone for smaller weddings and backyard parties, so i ran them clipping constantly, i heard no distortion as long as it wasnt completely cranked. Three years later.. Still working great!

  • Great video Mike! I was the same way with Behringer, at first there were no good, but now they have come a long way, and they are perfect for smaller parties and cocktail hours, and stuff like that. All these companies are definitely getting the designs spot on and custom tailored for what guys like us need them for. And the cool thing is they are not that expensive anymore. You can get a great system for a lot less money now.

  • "props to gemini"?

If anyone else on youtube said that, they would get an immediate thumbs down. being that it's "Mikey Mike", i had to make my own comparisons over at world of stereo in SF. firstly, i have had ramsa wsa200s for about as long as Mikey before giving them away to a relative (BAD MOVE) and i can swear by them. i checked out the mackie and the gemini, and will say this. if you need a cheap speaker for a non-performance item, you can't beat the price on the gemini. GOOD FIND MM!

  • 6:20 - it's not as horny as i thought it would be.

THATS WHAT SHE SAID. Sorry, had to be said.

  • but my 15" speakers arent ment to be subs i bought them empty with out drivers but i couldent find new horns for the becous the owner puted compresion drivers on them the broke of so i coverd the horn hole with a alu plate removed the filter puted a originel dap driver in it and run them as bass kabs now

  • I roll with the Behringer B212a and they sound great, never have clipped. When I pair it with my EV Force i 18" sub powered by a Crown XLS 602 I have no problems filling a room. However, for my weekly karaoke shows I am looking for a set of inexpensive speakers that will give me plenty of low end so that I don't need to bring the sub to the smaller venues. Any suggestions?

  • @mentalgump I would always recomend bringing a sub all the time the tripod takes up more room than a sub and a pole so saying it uses more room dosent work for me with the great base output

    MM

  • there are so many choices in powered speakers...great video as always. and did u really say "horny" ?!?!? LOL

  • @jasperibe yes I did and yes I am as I have been married for 20 years LOL

    MM

  • Great info bud

  • @rushentertainment thank you ~!

  • I've got those speakers and they work great, but I think I'm going to get a sub, if you don't send full range out the the top cabs and just leave the bass either flat or down, they'll almost never clip, plus some of the guys from agiprodj.com told me that the mackie srm1801 sub kicks butt with 1000W and only $700!

  • @crankupthevolume1517 Yes subs are the way to go for base and the guys at AGI are great guys !!!

    MM

  • yep gemini buy their speakers from the same people as everybody else

geminis only problem is piezo electric tweeters thet suck

  • @IamDJ556 Im not sure what tweeter the RS's have they do sound good so as long as I dont over drive them I should be fine

    MM

  • I bet if you brought the Gemini speakers on the road they would break down more quickly......maybe. Had some cheaper Peavey speaks that did that.

  • @DJJDBass Yes they might as I bring back ups for all my grear but saying that it gives me the option to use them to try without effecting an event

    MM

  • @directsound good point.

  • good

  • Who would've thought...Gemini! Nice vid!

  • @Giggity2007 Not me :)

  • Have you not heard the buzz on the k10s? lol you should of got him a pair of k12s or prx612s plus a serato itch controller.

  • @sainifabulous Yes GReAT speaker But I was not going to spent the money for them for my son can use these for his dorm room and it wont hurt so bad if they get jacked!! the reloop came with Tractor LE and I upgraded to Tractor Pro!

    MM

  • well i som times clip my amps but light not al the way so the clip led flash som times but i mis real sub low in my set but i like those thumb th-15a and i gona buy a revo 3 so cant buy som good subs but wel 2x12" and 2x15" also a good set up for a mobiel dj but buy good amps with the speakers ps nice vid dj mike,s drive in show
