  • Are those vic firth M171's? I use those. ^.^

  • whoa man that was scary at the begining, if i was wearing 3-d glasses it would look like im being cock slapped with marimba mallets.

  • That was beautiful. I'm a drummer who wants to expand... and this (or a hangdrum) would be my prime choices.

    Percussion & melody FTW

  • wow u hav a marimba at home lol awsome n nice playing

  • the dog barking was a nice touch haha ;]

    this is my solo too

but since we spent like 2 months on stupid region

i only have a month and a half to learn/memorize/get it down >:l

    good job :D

  • @ChelseaBAMFFTD

thanks! lol i did this as a sophomore in high school and loved it so im sure you will too!

  • Accelerations by moments and wrong notes but good job and good marimba ;-)

  • a lot softer mallets

  • yeah definitly softer mallets. and you need to work on coming off the key right when you hit it. this will sound much better when you get better at that. good technique otherwise, and good job

  • thanks! yeah the video makes it seem pretty poundy but its really not that bad. those mallets are actually really nice and fit this solo well :D

  • @lildrummerboy55 this song requires hard mallets

  • in my opinion i'd go with a softer mallet at the begining

  • good job!

you got to bring home a marimba, but I own one in my basement lol

  • haha that's cool! im one of the few people who don't have money....lol

  • what kind of mallets are u using?

  • pro mark dfp 740s

  • this is amazing. im doing this solo this year and this is a really good video for me to come back to and watch. keep up the good work

  • thanks!

  • I wish I had a marimba in my bedroom!

  • this is awsome

    good job

  • Hey, I'm trying to pick a solo for next year. I played Rain Dance last year as my first four mallet solo (8th grade). would you say this would be very difficult if I didn't have much experiance or practice time??? Good job though, it sounded good (:

  • lol...i learned rain dance from my friend. i think if you take private lessons with someone who knows what they are talking about, and you practice, you could get this solo pretty easy. it's really fun, which makes it fun to practice. therefore, you practice a lot! haha.

  • What mallets did you use??

  • pro mark DFP 740's

  • Not bad... very refreshing

  • hey man great job, just try different roll speeds and roll types in the roll section...there are a billion options

  • really good job

    sounds pretty

  • thanks

  • nice note accuracy! just work a little on musicality, let it fluctuate a little, i know that in the keiko recordings that it isnt always quite so metered. but really, nice job with it.

  • thanks malletstud and codyjmac! that was really my first run through.....i need to post some more videos! lol

  • Wow! Extremo close marimba mallets! I'd go over some sections on this piece. This is one of my faves, and some of the parts, however small they are, were flubbed up a bit. But overall, it was a nice performance. Some times the mallets were a bit bright in tone, but it was nice. I enjoy this piece very much!!!
