  • Mouse songs are so easy on guitar but also so brilliant. Isaac is a genius.

  • All their songs are super to play on guitar but are brilliant... it's crazy. Isaac, You're a genius.

  • Pure.Brilliance.

  • It dosent matter in which mode im into, can always listen to Modest Mouse,

    Love you guys,

  • Wait, people are allowed to dislike this? WTF

  • They need to make a new feature on Modest Mouse videos. If you press dislike, it will say "ERROR; PLEASE STOP BEING AN IDIOT AND REPLAY THE SONG"

  • @xxh4ny0uxx the should do that on every good artists! and on bad song put, "If you really listened to song you would've died by now" when you like it

  • got my name from this song. :)

  • 200th like :D

  • @Gastronauticle Cool, want a trophy?

  • MM @ the Crocodile cafe in Seattle way back when= one of the best shows I've seen...and they had a guest fiddle player

    :)

  • Life is incomplete without Modest Mouse!

  • ahhhh! this was one of my favs back in the day.... soooooo good........ the best..... I miss those days......

  • @blackmetallicgirl Cheers to that.

  • @eatonss thank uuuu!! ;-) the best, right??

  • @blackmetallicgirl Thats right.

  • My heroes. ♥

  • Modest Mouse will never produce a bad song. Issac Brock you are my hero!

  • @poeticvariance there new album is pretty rough

  • @djdwildcat13 It is a lot more simple then any of their other stuff. I still find it to be catchy though.

  • Issac can pull off looking goofy and serious at the same time

  • haha, i dont see any negative comments anon. good video, though im a little confused why you ended on a picture of we were dead before the ship even sank.

  • i really love this era of modest mouse. i miss them as a three piece band.

  • 2:29 <3

  • really good song.

  • LOVE THE PICTURES, THANK YOUR FOR THESE. ISSAC IS GREAT

  • bar far one of my favorite songs by em

  • These guys will always be my favorite band.

  • i got in a shitty car accident with this song playing.creeps me out now.

  • modest mouse is the best

  • "everyone's life ends but no one ever completes it"

    i love this band.

  • modest mouse is so goood.

  • i <3 this song the vid made me so sad

  • i like all MODEST MOUSE's songs

  • @keith00032 i agree all modest mouse is amazing.

  • I dont know what you guys are talking about, both old and new MM rock.

  • Well, I said something but I didn't mean it

Everyone's life ends but no one ever completes it

Dry or wet ice, they both melt and you're equally cheated

Well, it took a lot of work to be the ass I am

And I'm really damn sure that anyone can

    Equally, easily fuck you over

Well, sure you'll tell me you've got nothing to say

And our voice shook hands the other day

If you can't see the thin air then what the hell is in your way?

  • i have to disagree that the new stuff is not that good...in fact 'we were dead before the ship even sank' is by far my favorite all around modest mouse album and is probably in my top 5 albums of all time...i love all the modest mouse albums, but i like that the most...the new ep is really good at parts as well but also has some skippable songs

  • I totally agree, there are some gems on the new album

  • im gonna have to agree. From a purely musical standpoint We Were dead is an exceptional album. I can agree with fellow old school MM fans that it does stray from the classic MM sound (banjos, etc) but it is still a musically incredible album indeed. so many incredible songs

  • I thought WWDBTSES was meh...the moon and Antarctica is great, i love GNFPWLBN, and don't listen much to anything older than M&A.

  • Im sure you will come to find out that all the other stuff before moon and antarctica is fking amazing also.. you need to learn young grasshopper

  • different strokes, i suppose. its not as if I havent listened to older shit; ive listened to (I think) every publicly released mouse song. lonesome crowded west was good, moon and antarctica (As well as GNFPWLBN!) were awesome, two of my favorite albums ever. we were dead is alright. sad sappy sucker is pretty damn bad, sorry lol...and long drive isnt terrible, just not my kinda thing.

  • @corncornrocks You are missing out in a terrible way, not listening to music before TM&A.

  • @MissingTime1

of course ive listened. i wouldnt be a fan if i didnt give previous albums a few listens.

  • the new stuff is not good like float on and modest mouse, yet your favorite album was made 3 years after those songs came out..

  • @Putterjew023 NOT GOOD? You need to get a thesaurus so you don't insult someone without meaning it. I understand what you mean. The "new" stuff, starting with Good News (2004?) wasn't as comparable to the "old" stuff. However, it harms the band to always view their music with one angle. While the music changed, the lyrics & the soul remain the same. That passion of Isaac Brocks remains intact, no matter who thinks Good News, and anything afterwards, deserves less respect.

  • @MissingTime1 perfectly said my friend.

  • @MissingTime1 right on brotha

  • the new stuff is really good, and dont get me wrong i loved we were dead but you cant put that ahead of lonesome crowded west... thats just the classic mouse album..

  • modest mouse honestly probably are magic

    or they are crazy

  • amazing.

  • 3:42 tony montana. bad ass song. i wish modest mouse had a saying. (e.g. iron maidens is "up the irons")

  • Float On.

  • Modest Mouse is magical

  • @cantpick1name there music is its own type of drug.

  • @cantpick1name Achoo!! Sorry, I'm allergic to alliteration. ACHOO

  • your so cool

  • @jamaskad

I have all of modest mouse's albums, and I think that their old stuff is better but it still annoys me when people hate on the new stuff. It's good too.

  • yeah i also have all the albums. ive been listening to the new ones ever since i posted this and realized that they really are quite good. it takes a little while to get into them but after you do they are a good easy listen.

i guess i take that other comment back

  • @jamaskad lol cool cool. I mean I agree that their old stuff is a lot better, but the new stuff is good in its own right. "Fire it up" off 'we were dead before the ship even sank' was really good

  • @dudeness I've got their old stuff around here somewhere, and I gotta say I'll love it for the rest of my life. I think part of it is that their old stuff is a hard act to follow, part of it is that it's not that great (the new stuff), and part of it is resentment over them getting massively popular for one song which while good was not representative of the rest of their work. Strange I know, but I can kinda understand.

  • @JamesMachine420 Bands like Modest Mouse and Cake have the best gigs in the music world. They have an extremely loyal base, make a very good living but have a sound that is simply not 'mainstream' enough to really be played on the homogenized radio. They make less money than a retarded Britney Spears does, but it allows them to retain their sound more and for a longer period of time. It is the place I would want to be were I in a band.

  • @JamesMachine420 The incessant media spotlight is what destroys some of our favorite artists, this way they are mildly insulated, if not much more insulated.

take it easy. I agree with what you said btw

  • cont. I once said "I hate Kidz Bop, if they ever Kidz Bop'd a Modest Mouse song, I'd kill myself." I should be dead now. Because it seemed like they only Kidz Bop'd awful music as it was, and made it even worse. But for the record I do like some of their new stuff too, I'm not gonna let popularity prevent me from enjoying something that's just lame. "Bury Me With It" was awesome live.

  • @dudeness88 agreed sometimes i wonder if they even listened to modest mouse's new cds all the way through lol

  • this is such a badass guitar riff, and badass lyrics, isaacs lyrics are the most amazing. heartfelt, "sense-making" words ever put on paper, soooo under rated for his talent, catchy, badass, strange guitar riffs, plus his lyrics is a person who has had a taste of life, nothing he sings about is fantasy, he sings what everyone thinks but doesnt say it, he's so honest.

  • Hell yeah man! Isaac does make incredible lyrics. I still think his best work is in The Stars Are Projectors. That song sends chills and makes my heart race. Incredible man, regardless of what people say I hope he continues. i love this bands new sound as well. Sure its a lot different but oh well.

  • i think beach side property was his best work lyrically.

but honestly every song they've ever come out with is art. its hard to pick a "best one"

  • word

  • "it took alot of work to be the ass that i am" lol sounds like me...

  • sakusofon, I feel the same way, but if a gun were put to my head I'd have to go with "Perfect Disguise". You know how you can listen to a great album for the first time, so you don't really think it's great but then ONE song plays and it just grabs you and you can't think of or do anything else because the song playing is that good and perfect and it just hits you exactly where you needed to be hit? That song for me is "Perfect Disguise", off the Moon and Antarctica album. Masterpiece!

  • 0:43 MUGSHOT

  • I love this song! It is so hard to choose a favorite Modest Mouse song. xD Mine favorite is between this one, Novocain Stain, or...ugh, I love them all!

  • I'm ashamed that i just got into this band a week ago, and at the same time profoundly euphoric there's yet so much of this one amazing life changing band to discover

  • Listen to Interstate 8, Fruit that Ate Itself, This is a long drive for someone with nothing to think about, Lonesome Crowded West, and the rest of Moon & Antarctica. And Night on the Sun. Just some recommendations :)

  • HAHAHA...you pretty much covered it all there bud :)

  • It's all so good. . .can't decide :)

  • you could of just sent them their discography 'cos I've yet to find an album of theirs that isn't good ;D

  • Who cares about when you get into something? You found it! Thats all that matters!

  • i agree with you ScdlyGreg!

  • I am starting to believe that this song has the ability to turn Good to Evil, because it seems to melt my anger away when I listen to it.

Or perhaps, I am melodramatic. Either way...

  • you mean evil to good? =]

  • Rats...YES. That is what I meant.

  • ha modest mouse always seems to dissapate my anger.. especially this album.. A Different City, this song and I came as a Rat never fail to cheer me up

  • Well it took a lot of wok to be the ass that i am!

Isaac = great lyricist, great composer, all of that. WAY better than Mars Volta.

  • Wow, they sort of have a modern class slash Mars Volta sort of feel. top notch.

  • Modern *Clash*

  • the best part is the ending its all happy then almost turns scary...it does remind me of the mars volta

  • I think there song themes are allot like the mars volta as well as the fact that both bands use allot of strange sounds to create that dreamy serial feel, though the Mars Volta are more Porg Rock. but Isaac Brocks guitar style is so similar to that of Mick Jones from the clash, just with a more modern indie feel.

  • for me what makes them so good is there lyrics. so few other bands out there deal with the subject matter they do, and with Brocks clever wordplay and philosophical metaphors in his lyrics.

also agree about the ending, sort of makes you happy and nerves at the same time.

wow, sorry, i waffled on so much i had to spread it over two posts ;D

  • Mars Volta will never release an album even half as good as Moon and Antarctica

  • True That Though. Good as the Mars Volta are they've got nothing on the genius of Modest mouse. Moon and Antarctica has to be one of the best modern rock albums i've ever heard.

  • Wow, this band is just awesome. I can't believe I've never gotten into them until just recently.

  • let him be profound he obviously likes modest mouse

  • the inherent nature of this music literally makes the universe something to ponder over. That sounded obscure. Basically, this whole album sits on some odd, sublime cloud while time passes by.

  • ...Ok.

  • Yeah, crack isn't good for you xD

But it is a great song on a great album

  • goddamn why do they get to look so cool in those old pics..

  • all these negative comments are a downer for looking at a page which such good music. why don't you just post on the rant/rave section of craigslist??

  • @anonsqc what a great idea, I am sure no one listened lol

  • this music is inspiration

  • Your face keeps getting worse.

  • I'm sick of seeing your fuckin gay ass comments Ejb. i TELL YOU you call them shitty, and you say "No, theyre just worse, or bad, and your 5 years old". F.Y.I. im 22 Jan. 5th. Stop looking up MM videos and leaving youtr shit ass fucking comments. you piss me off, unbeliebably bad. get a fuckin life, stop looking up their videos and dissing them. dont deny it, cause you do you inbred swine. and dont respond to what i said cause if i wanted to hear a girl bitch i would donkey punch your mom. ass

  • wo wo calm down good sir no need to get so worked really that's how you get ulcers. and as much as you dislike like it everyone is entitled to there opinion, so there so asshole dissing modest mouse out there who gives a fuck? as long as you like them you shouldn't care what others think about them right?

  • I have to agree.

  • Not to mention, The moon and antarctica, didnt have jeremiah. he left when they were recording, so they got a different drummer, and another guitarist. the guitarist was there before that too for lonesome crowded west, and imo, thos are 2 masterpieces dont with only 2 original members of the band, isaac and eric. so, if you say the more they get besides themselves, they suck. your completely wrong

  • hey man jeremiah was there for moon, he wasn't for good news

  • 2:31

    WTFUC!!!

    THIS MAN IS CRAZY!

  • Dumbass

  • whered you get that sandbox pic?!?1?1

  • Only a dumb shit would say something like that.

  • mm is so good but so many of their songs have the exact same chord progresion maby transposed a step or 2 down or with like a single different note.

  • I think this song is about atheism. the line

"Well God said somethin' but he didn't mean it, everyone's life ends but no one ever completes it," means that god was lying about heaven and there really is neither heaven nor hell. and since most people want to go to heaven, "everyone's life ends but no one ever completes it" means that a christian's main goal in life is to go to heaven, and if there is no heaven, then their lives are never completed.

  • Disintegrate into the thin air if you'd like.

  • I love this...it's like one of those professional slideshows that people show at Noble Prize ceremonies. :)

  • from the picture at 34 seconds looks like issac is short

  • these picture are great

  • One of the greatest songs ever.

Thank you weird LJ girl named Tierney would introduced me to this one.

  • lovein it one if not the best song from modest mouse

  • love this song

  • lawls...i'm related to isaac :)

  • how? if you don't mind me asking

  • We have the same family lol. Same last name and all.

  • lucky...

  • i love the picute at 3:02

  • this has got to be my favorite song by mm

  • 3:02**

  • 2:06

    &

    3:07

  • 2:33 is fuckin priceless!!!

  • How did Isaac get that black eye? anyone?

  • OMB! Can I Get The Pic At 2:37 From You?

    Danke

  • Niceee!

  • Well God said something but didn't mean it everyone's life ends

    no one ever completes it

Dry and wet ice, they both melt

    and you're equally cheated!

  • great song!

  • pretty cool slideshow
