Peter Mayer,Roger Guth,& Jim Mayer - PM- are an incredible band that never got their due credit for being one of the few bands from the late 80's that really had potential for greatness- this album is a definite classic "Piece of Paradise" is in my all time top 500 songs ever(#389)an excellent three piece group almost impossible to find this album/cd found a used copy @ Amoeba in Hollywood (check out Kevin Gilbert's first band Giraffe and Toy Matinee)
I was in college when I first heard this song. It seemed like rock music of the early 80s was merging with the sophisticated elegance of New Age. If you like this group, check out Toy Matinee's "The Ballad of Jenny Ledge."
Saw these guys open for Chicago in 1988 and they were amazing. I picked up the CD the next day and fortunately still have it. Great songwriting throughout.
I've been combing the bins and the web for this album for years. This is making my day. If anyone has the album, please share it with us. This track ,When First We Were Lovers and Boy Meets Girl take me back to some of the best times of my life.
This music is amazing, reminds me of my childhood. Thanks for uploading the video. Anyone can tell me what kind of car she is driving? Thanks. Greetings from Lima, Peru.
This song is a true gem! When I drive and I hear this song play, it's as if I'm searching for something. Whether it's out there or inside of me, it's a need that's got to be satisfied. Hopefully, one day I can find it.
@MrVideoman44 Very long out of print. I have most of the songs in MP3. You can send me a message with your email address and I'll share them with you.
Great stuff! I actually remember seeing them live in '88 right after this came out at an intimate club in St. Louis called Ralph Butler's. Always did think they should have gotten more notice than they did. Now, if someone would post the song "Nothing" the memories would be complete. AH......THE 80's!!
I'm a session musician here in Nashville. I grew up in St.Louis where Weckl, Jim and Peter Mayer, Roger Guth were all from. I've played with the most amazing musicians in the world. I'm considered one of the best guitatist (laughable to me) by my peers in the world. I can honestly say. The music Pete and the guys made on this record? Is the still the best record ever made. Too bad they aren't recognized as they should be.
Surprised to see a lot of Kababayans who happen to know this great song! AFAIK this wasn't played on most radio stations back in the 80s. 99.5RT nga lang alam kong nagpapatugtog nito.
Iwas 15, in Dulag national high school, here in Leyte, Philippines. I remember this song on my beat up casette player, while conversing under a pacific sky talking about our dreams.. our piece of paradise.. gladly all the three us got our share... One is in Canada now, the other has his own business... thanks peter mayer. You we're a cult hit here in the 80s. In fact, Moonlight over Paris have been covered like crazy here in the Phils. thanks
Man....I love this song and this video. The bass lick on this just drives. Peter Mayer's mastery of the guitar..awesome. You guys take me back. The late 80's Rocked!!
hard to believe, 20 years ago! now peter is such a great solo talent. jim is putting out kid records, roger as well as peter and jim are the core rhythm section for Jimmy Buffett and have been for 19 years. that was such a killer album when it came out on WB's. it had a Sting-Police-Level 42 vibe to it and I played it to death. I have it on CD and LP too.
HOOOLY SHIT! I was looking for this song so long, didnt know the name, I cant believe I finally found it HAHAHAHA! But I hav to admit it sounded little bit better in my mind. Thanks so much for posting, I feel so relieved now!
I've always wanted to hear this song again, i got the their album featuring this song in 1988 but that was on a cartridge type, i like all their songs especially "nothing" and moonlight over paris"...how time pass by so fast. if anybody happens to know where could i buy this album in CD i'll be glad to know. thank you very very very very very much for posting Whoever you are.
Junmarapao: I have two copies of this CD. One I bought off e-bay by sending a message to everyone who was selling CDs of obscure 80's music. The other was found at a used CD store. Keep looking. If nothing else, send me a message, maybe I can sell you one of my copies, but I paid like $100 to get the first one in about 1998.
great song! very emotional!! i 've just heard this song a couple of times on Telestereo 88.3 fm here in Lima, Peru many years ago... but it got printed on my mind... thanks a lot for posting this great song!
Loved this song in high school, had only heard it a few times then, never had a recording of it, didn't know the artist, always hoped to hear it again, thanks so much for sharing, what a treat! Peter's quite good!
