illmatic and it was written are the only nas albums I can listen to the whole way through. some of the best hip hop albums of all time.

Hes had a few good singles since then spread throughout all his albums but nothing as cohesive and dope as those 2.

@Rivalthedon His rhymes and topics are great - I'm not denying that. And I think as an MC he matured well, but his production ever since It Was Written has been inconsistent to say the least. Hiphop is about beats as well as rhymes. I'll admit, Untitled was better than Nastradamus and God's Son with its beats but seriously - the production in his first to albums was DOPE. It pisses me off because I can't stand listening to any of Nas' new shit just because of the production.

This is the type of track that will never get played on the radio but every Hip Hop DJ should bang at a set.

The reason why is because pooh butts will never hear this without them doing that but it is a great song AND it's easy for a DJ to put in the mix in terms of the way the drums are synched on the introduction and the end.

I bought 'Hip Hop is Dead' on the strength of the single but this is one of my favorite songs on the album.

It Was Written is easily the 2nd best album he's ever made, it was the most mature album he's ever made, lyrically and conceptually. Stillmatic and the Lost Tapes were fairly similar, I prefer the Lost Tapes, more genuine. HHID is his 5th or 6th best, that's the most logical position. Get more familiar with It Was Written fam you're sleepin.
