Now, I love the Jeff Buckley version, adore Leonard Cohen's own rendition, but Katie has the voice of an angel and her music connects us to something much bigger and broader than this mundane world.
Let's be honest, anyone can sing this song, and it's incredible :)
And I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Katie. Like seriously, I can't even count how many times I've seen her live now. She is incredible too.
But I don't really like it that much... Maybe it's the arrangement.... I don't know. It just doesn't have the heartwrenching quality that the song should have.
an angel,,,do words do justice to this angel without wings??? or does she have them an enigma or an awesome Mum? as a mothewr of 5 i can not think of anything better than singing lullabies to my babies with a voice like that ,like a nymph of beauty ,like a mother like no other, thank u katie for making our 14th year anniversary special,,we are the SPecial Ones* thank u luv Anji *Tony
Breathtakingly beautiful. I wish such musical talent like this was appreciated more within younger generations instead of some of the rubbish that is played on the radio these days.
What a gorgeous song. I just can get past the mismatched flourishes and diva'ing with the lovely simple music. I found the same listening to katie in Manchester Lane 6 or so years ago.
STILL it's an amazing song and she is one of the most beautiful, heart rending vocalists i've ever heard.
love her voice, but she needs to start writing her own music, soon rather than later. And if you like this version, listen to Jeff Buckley's version, will blow your pantellones off.
WHAT? Jeff Buckly sang a version of Hallelujah? OMIGOSH! I didn't know! Inform the press! I'm certain the entire world will want to discover this unheard version!
no sarcasm intended at all, I really love Katie's voice, I think she is amazing... but I heard Jeff Buckley's version even before the original and so far it is my favourite... and it's certainly not unheard of, if you google the word "Hallelujah" or look it up on youtube Jeff's is the first to come up... just try it : )
While I don't care for the arraignment on this cover of such a classic song, her voice is absolutely amazing. I can easily imagine her singing jazz or blues to put all others to shame. :)
@JullenaBurcham Rufus DID do a mainstream job. he did a very good job but having heard the song a thousand times it does get old unless someone infuses some originality and light into it. Wainright didnt do that. he just churned out a plain version, comparatively, therefore he is mainstream.
@lachlunn I respect your opinion cause at the end of this it is only opinion but you support yourself quite well. We need more people like you on youtube lol.
It's OK but the problem with all these covers are that they totally lack the aggressive emotion that LC brings to the song.. This is one original that can never be bettered.
God he has an incredible voice!

@lisarenee3505 you should check out a self-titled album called Elixir. it's Katie's little side project with her husband. Absolutely gorgeous :)
