On a note ...my personal opinion is that they do not really look old for the parts while Emma was 36 and perhaps too old to play Eleanor since her age in the book was 19 (she did not look old at all) and as for Kate in 1995 she was only 20 and the age of Marianne was 17 in the book...she fitted perfectly the role...as far as the 2008 version they do seem beautiful to me ;-)
@divagirl408 yes.. yes it is, one the best i think now the people who say Alan only ever plays villians welll come on lol they obviously havent seen the dashing white knight "colonel brandon" lol ... gotta love Emma thompson also xxx
i love this video!! i saw it ages ago and it made me buy the song! lol thanks for that you gotta love colonel brandon tho, he just plucks at a girls heartstings, and i think alan plays him better than anyone!.... very well peiced together xxxx
At 3:17, when I watched the movie. I actually cried at that scene because after Col. Brandon saves her, everyone rushes to her and then leaves him with this longing look on his face. That look to me spoke so many volumes.
Watching this trailer almost destroys the resplendent fancies I have on both Elinor and Marianne - for both whom, to my knowledge are 17 and 19 respectively. And for those who actually read the book, the depiction of both characters are monstrously horrendous. Both should appear, if none to much, not at least past twenties. But on this one, they looked like already married women. And even worse for the 2008 movie as none seem pleasantly beautiful as described by Miss Austen in the book.
@CeritaDia Ang Lee understood that Emma Thompson was older than Elinor is portrayed but he had her write the part as Elinor is 27 making her character more relateable to the modern audience for her feelings of becoming an old maid, a woman of 19 at this time was getting "old" for marriage but that is preposterous for our culture today, 27 is much more relateable. As for Kate Winslett, she was only 20 at this time and therefore 3 years Marianne senior, a common occurance in Hollywood movies
nice job.

Passed from Alan Rickman to Hugh Laurie. Remind me to get lost in the rain more often.
