  • official scorecards had Duran ahead after 12 rounds...Duran boxed and counterpunched against Hagler...Hagler's too strong!

  • Hagler was on PED's. Watch his fights. The entire fight he gets plastered with hard shots and doesn't even flinch. We're are talking about HUGE punchers here: Duran, Leonard, Hearns, etc. And to move blink an eye when you take one to the face round after round is suspect to me. That might be blasphemy, but I don't buy, especially the way guys cheated in the 80's.

  • Two of the greatests.

  • HAGLER TE VENDISTE COMO ES POSIBLE QUE ACABASTE CON THOMY HEARS Y NO PUDISTE CON DURAN NI CON SUGAR ERES UN FIASCO DE PERSONA Y QUE EL BOX TE OLVIDE PRONTO

  • Lol Duran still wanted to go after the fight with Hagler. Duran gained a lot of respect after getting knocked out by Hitman Hearns to then go 15 rounds with probably the greatest middleweight ever.

  • The golden age of boxing. It will never be as good as it was during that era. At least there are the memories...

  • @Inukshuk67 Only if Big George wouldn't have retired in the 80's for the HW's.

  • this where hagler showed his limitations against a very and clever and underestimated duran. duran was a natural lightweight 130 pounds and hagler a natural 160 so anybody says hagler would have walked throught leonard in 1983 you need to think again, right after the fight duran walked up to leonard and said you box him you will beat him.. hagler always had trouble against clever fighters and this is the proof !!!!! leonard would have beat him 1983 also !!!

  • @sweetassugar69 Considering how close it was in '87 between Hagler and Leonard , it's near-impossible to predict who would have won had they fought four years previous. Leonard admitted that Hearns won their second fight, so if they had never met in '81, you could have argued that Hearns would have won had they fought in their primes. Duran was a smart fighter, and timed Hagler's jab. Once Hagler began mixing it up, he earned a derseved win.

  • Je me rappelle de ce match que j'avais vu à la TV et c'est un

des plus beau que j'ai vu question combativité.

  • At LW, Duran KO's Floyd at the staredown.

  • two of the toughest fighters in this era

  • Both of my fav fighters

  • FYI guys,Duran moving up twenty five pounds to fight Marvelous Marvin Hagler, going 15 rounds...If Hagler moved up twenty five pounds and fought Micheal Spinks , do you think it would have gone 15 rounds???

  • @MegaDarryl1960

It's possible, Hagler had a granite chin and was a better boxer than Michael.

  • @MegaDarryl1960 Wouldn't count him out...

  • @MegaDarryl1960

Duran was reigning WBA 154lbs champion at the time of this fight. It's not as if he had gone straight from lightweight to Middleweight.

  • hagler was a monster

  • DURAN WON

  • that looks fucking hard

  • Will never know if today's champs at these weights could compete with the fighters SRL Hearns ,Duran, Hagler, but it does make great Barbershop arguments. Pacman could I do know that. I'll tell ya one thing Duran had know fear of Hagler but with Hearns he looked down right frightened. Guess he knew what the experts didn't

  • @tellthetruthg Duran frightened? SO NOT TRUE! Duran was simply KO'd vs Hearns. The man took a beating in the 1st round; if there was ever a time he should of quit? he should of never came out for the 2nd against Tommy. His corner should of recognized Duran had NO chance and spared their fighter; the outcome as we already know was Duran fighting it out and getting smashed in the process. He himself got tired of being beat throughout the ring & went for the KO himself; but go caught instead.

  • @tellthetruthg the way Duran fought against Tommy; is NOT the mark of a frightened man! Duran was simply on a suicide mission!

  • Will never know if today's champs at these weights could compete with the fighters SRL Hearns ,Duran, Hagler, but it does make great Barbershop arguments. Pacman could I do know that

  • You know the 80's were horrible.. But one thing that made it great to be there. Were the middleweights. Haggler, Duran, Hearns, Mugabi, Leonard to name just a few. Simply the best boxing at that weight you will ever see. There is no one around now that comes close to the skill and bravery of these guys or rather there is no one who will last as long and stay at the top of their game like these fighters did. Forget your khans and your Mayweathers. These guys were the real deal

  • @extremevalid yessssssssss

  • fantastic 4: hagler, duran, hearns, leonard.

  • went to this fight 1983

  • Marvin Hagler's boxing skills were very underminded. Part of this is so many people from later generations usually think of the faded Hagler that methodically chased around SRL.

  • Top Ten All Time Greatest Fighters: 1) Muhammad Ali 2) Sugar Ray Robinson 3) Joe Louis 4) Roberto Duran 5) Sugar Ray Leonard 6) Marvelous Marvin Hagler 7) Mike Tyson 8) Joe Frazier 9) Larry Holmes 10) Lennox Lewis
  • @bangitslo That list is so wrong I dont care if it's your opinion.

  • @MultiGreat1 I think you may be right. I tend to lean towards Heavyweights too much. The list should include: Salvador Sanchez, Julio Ceasar Chavez, Aaron Pryor instead of Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson and Larry Holmes

  • @bangitslo No respectable boxing fan denies that Roy Jones Jr in his prime is the greatest of all time.

  • @tatertots00 Roy Jones is not the greatest of all time, sorry. But he simply is not. Your top 3 is laughable. No Ray Robinson, Willie Pep, Henry Armstrong. The p4p best fighter is based on their Boxing ability, which Roy wasn't really a great Boxer. He had tremendous speed and reflexes. As soon as they went you saw how in-complete he was as a fighter, he has poor defence and a weak chin. Ali, Louis and Leonard have all said Robinson was the greatest. Welter champ and 5 time middleweight champ.

  • @coolins112 I am talking about modern boxing its a different game boxing was hardly a sport before Ali. Outside of about 5-10 guys in every division the rest were weekend warriors

  • @tatertots00 hardly a sport before? what fighting 20rds, LOL. You also had to earn your shot at World crown fighting 60 or 70 times. The Greatest Middleweight Harry Greb would"ve killed Roy Jones jnr. He was amazingly fast but had very weak chin, made alot of mistakes!

  • @coolins112 Roy Jones not even top 30, he did win Heavyweight belt, but who did he fight, Ruiz. Could you imagine Ruiz beating Louis, Demspey, Ali, Marciano, Frazier, Lewis, Tyson or the Klitschkos? No chance, he was a tough guy but very limited! Alot of these experts think Boxing started in 1980, & dismiss anything before hand!

  • @dan32113 Yeah I agree. He was the weakest of the Heavyweight champions. Ruiz to me is and always will be like a journeyman, a guy you pit against up and coming prospects. A lot of people ignore the older fighters, and just stick with today's fighters like Mayweather or Manny. People call them the greatest when they have no idea, what amazing boxers that came before them. Robinson to me is p4p n1 with Armstrong and Pep after him. My favourite will always be Duran though, I loved his style.

  • @dan32113 Roy Jones dominated everybody he fought up until he moved up to heavyweight. Roy did not just beat he dominated 2 all time great Hall of Famers(Hopkins and Toney)

  • @tatertots00 Toney was a class middlewieght, but Hopkins the welterweight slayer biggest wins against De la Hoya & Trinidad! Over rated, never beat a great Middleweight, & Calzaghe beat him fairly convincingly!

  • @dan32113 I agree that he is a welterweight slayer but is Hopkins is still an all time great.

  • @tatertots00 The point i"m making is De la Hoya, Trindad are much smaller men. Also his "win" over smaller Winky wright was not clear cut, alot had winky winning. Who else had Hopkins beat? Tarver not exactly alltime great light heavy & tough but limited Pavlik. Hopkins also must have one of the worst counter punching styles, if you want to watch a great counter puncher watch Pernell Whitaker.

  • @dan32113 Hopkins counter punching style is less pretty but it is the most effective style I had ever seen.

  • @tatertots00 you"ve never seen Pernell Whitaker then? Hopkins is a very poor counter puncher compared to Whitaker.

  • @dan32113 Pernell used to get hit clean a few times in every fight. You can count on one hand the # of times you have seen Bernard get hit clean in his career

  • @tatertots00 sorry but to compare Whitaker & Hopkins is chalk n cheese. Ring magazine named Pernell 10th best fighter of last 80yrs!

  • @bangitslo

So, an undefeated Marciano in the heavyweight division with a 49-0 record (43 by KO) doesn't make that list? Your opinion sucks.

  • @buckskipper Hi my friend. I love Rocky Marciano. He was a friend of my Dad's along with Marty Marshall (who beat Sonny Liston) and Pittburgh's Bob Baker. There's been tons of fighters who have been 50-0, 60-0 whatever. I understand where you are coming from. However Rocky just didn't make my top ten. See my earlier post.

  • @bangitslo

Keep in mind, every fighter he beat, he either retired them or they were never the same...and that speaks volumes. He may not have been a boxer but he was a devastating slugger who had a HUGE heart. Rocco still remains very underated.

  • @bangitslo

GTFO you know nothing about boxing ever here of Roy Jones Jr, Julio Cesar Chavez,

Roy Jones Jr #1 all time pound for pound

Julio Cesar Chavez #2 all time pound for pound

Roberto Duran #3 all time pound for pound

  • All the respect due to Duran for giving so much problems to Hagler. I thought at the time it could be an easy one for the Marvelous but I was wrong.

  • duran was the 1st man to go the distance with Hagler in 6 years. All the others were KO's. Wat does that say about the quality of duran?

  • @POTATER1228 It says what it signifies, he's one of the Greatest Fighters that ever lived! Manos de Piedra baby! (But Ali is my favorite)

  • At the end of this fight during the interveiw Hagler had the look and demeaner of a man who knew he had been in the ring with a much better fighter, this had never happened to Marvin before

  • When a rightie fights a leftie, the guy who puts his foot to the outside of the other guy is the guy who has the advantage. In this fight, it's usually Hagler.

  • @bigdatut Duran definately won this fight. Look at Haglers face and look at Duran's. Hagler won a few rounds but what people don't realize is Duran was slipping most of the punches thrown by hagler and landed great shots.

  • who won this fight?

  • Hagler by decision.

  • i wish the fighters of today had the balls to great that these guys did. Duran started at lightweight but here he is fighting a middleweight. awesome!.

  • yea, a great quartet for any generation,..especially duran, and his story.

  • I was thinking of taking up boxing but when I consider I would have being in the same age and weight bracket as Hagler, Hernes, Duran and Leonard its probably just as well I didnt.

  • You have to respect these four fighters Hagler Duran Hearns and Leonard . They were an amazing generation. Its funny because the first three I loved but I could never really warm to Leonard.

  • Jealous much ricflare???

  • 2 bums hey ? You should know, you little 18 year turd. Stick to Porn you sicko. This guy hates everyone.

  • @latinaloveruk yeah you are right...one decent person and one ass.

  • ur mothers over rated.

  • @ricflarefucknsucks lool you know nothing about the sport ahah roberto duran is rated in the top 5 of all time in ring magazine and marvin hagler is definately on the list somewhere too.

  • @mrharoldb yeah, at the top!

  • what happened to round 4?

  • durans ma fav,, at this time he was the only one to go the distancee with hagler

  • Duran was out of his league with Hagler (most people were). but it was a fight. I saw the Leonard hagler fight, looked like a sparing match to me. Not buying it!

  • out of his league? and he almost beat him by decision? you know not whatcha talking about ,right?

  • stick to politics cause ya don't know shit. He's hardly a coward when he beat leonard and had the balls to get in close with hagler while leonard danced the whole night. Duran quit cause he was pissed off at leonard taunting him and making a fool out of him.

  • and leanard didnt dance around Hgler, he ran.

    Ali danced around Clleveland W.

  • I think Duran may have been a tad braver than you and me don't you think?

  • hagler must of respected durans power as he is trying to box duran

  • Hagler wanted to be remembered as a boxer and not a slugger. That's why he boxed Leonard when instead he should have just walked through him.

  • Were there any other fighters who would switch there stance and be as affective as Hagler?

  • That was quite a good boxing match, between two well-trained and accomplished boxers.

  • any man who puts on gloves and goes to war with another man is no coward.

  • ill quote that

  • your welcome, imagine being one of Tysons early opponents-on a hiding to nothing, your family or loved ones watching, there aint no hiding place and nobody to help.man that takes sum guts.

  • absolutley....going into a fight where its obvious ur gonna lose like with tyson, id like to see the people on hear talking shit to lace em up and fight in front of thousands of people.

  • watch your words tyson just lost a child, his daughter died yesterday

  • fuck you faggot i wasnt even talking shit about him. I already knew he lost a kid. Go look up gay sex vids man

  • me too

  • but ducking an opponent even before the fight negotations start is an absolute shame and cowardness

    - floyd gayweather jr.

  • @unmensunshne As someone who was shit at boxing but gave it a go. This sentence is 100% correct. Well said sir!

  • @unmensunshne LOL yeahh right you just want someone to talk too

  • ladies stop cussing

  • Ring Magazine voted Duran 5th best fighter of all time, greatest Hispanic fighter of all time and greatest lightweight of all time. yeah, not a lot to rave about eh ?.....get a grip, guy is well deserved to be considered one of the best ever ! If Duran had more discipline to train, his record could have been unblemished

  • i love all this shit-talking,calling duran a pussy and a coward -- just to get to that level you can't possibly be a coward -- duran would've kicked all your daddy's asses and as an old man he'd still kick yours -- any of you tough guys a competitive fighter -- i thought not

  • I agree. I mean Duran quiting against Leonard does not make him look good, but he was one tough motherfucker. No doubt about that.

  • RE:Paulianna

Absolutely, even if it's on youtube and people just talking smack, it's still the most beyond unbeliveable thing to refer to Duran as a coward or anything the like. What audacity!!

In the ring, this man does'nt know fear. After he moved up from lighweight he fought all those bigger and younger men.!! I've seen Duran around town in Miami, real nice guy. But you just know, this is not the man to mess with!! Folks, don't fool ( or flatter yourself) this guy is Duran is NO coward!

  • exactly most make reference to the "no mas fight" when in reality he didn't say that; what he said was: "yo no voy a pelear con este payaso" I'm not gonna fight with this clown; referencing Leonard. If there was ever a fight that he should of, or could of quit? it was his fight vs Hearns; after the 1st rd. in which he was knocked down twice; his corner could of called it then and the world wouldn't of blamed him! Duran was no coward or quitter!

  • Yea a big and bad man that spic Duran was eh? Fuckin Sugar ray made the coward quit in the second fight, and even stood flat footed and got the best of that spic in most of the exchanges in the first AND second fight. Duran talked mega shit before fights. that macho shit didnt get the quiter spic anywhere, sugar ray will always be known as the better pound for pound fighter. Duran's faggot ass should stick to handing out peppermint mints at food joints and scrubbing shitters.

  • yea well he was more successful than you will ever be and loved by all his fans he is the greatest lightweight ever and he fought some of the hardest hitters at middle also he was not prepared for 2nd leonard fight he weighed 230 right before an he was like 50 when he retired learn boxing before talking shit

  • Duran was a quitter and lost to the best of his time thats all there is to that

  • He also beat Lenonard first.

Lookhow he fought close with Hagler even if he lost.

    Hagler is a middleweight,Duran a lightweight.

So Duran is a freak, and the better P4P fighter of both.

  • I don't see how Duran was better then either of them. He lost to both of them fair and square, and he got destroyed by Thomas Hearns. Duran is an all time great, but he just wasn't as great as these guys.

  • Hi. In this sport unlike baseball, weight class do matter, duran was a Natural Lightweight, he ruled his weight as no one did before him and no one ever has. He left his belt to fight the unbeaten champion of the next level (welterweight) and won.

He started fighting in 1968 not in 1981; HIS RECORD WAS 72 WINS-1LOST (That he revenged twice) when he fought leonard. From those 72 wins 56 where by KO MORE THAN 20 OF THEM ON THE 1ST ROUND!!!

  • he aint no quitter.he just quit that time cause they put him in a fight that he wasnt ready for

  • you shoudnt being talking about boxing, dont know anything about!!! You are just an idiot!

  • i know more than u motherfucker justify your claims

  • hagler 2 me was the best middleweight all time, duran best lightweight ever, cant belive how good duran is fighting a man much stronger than him,

  • Hagler boxed too much in this fight (I watched it on live TV way back when). If he had brawled with Duran the way he did with Hearns Duran would have been KO'd I believe.

  • great fight.... hearns vs nigel benn. correct me if im wrong???

  • duran did extremely well moving up to box hagler. he even exposed hagler alot. it also showed many hagler could box too.

  • Hearns only beat Duran because of the height, reach, & weight advantage. And in this fight Hagler struggles against a lightweight, could you imagine what Monzon would of done to him.

  • Monzon would have beten him on points. Monzon is the best middleweight

  • Monzon could of stopped him, Hagler had a propensity to cut.

  • Don't underestimate the great Duran. Duran was as tough as it gets in any division he fought. I agree that Duran was way past his prime when he fought Hearns but Duran knocked out many big guys including Barkley, Moore, etc.

  • WRONG. Hagler boxed too much. Hagler basically out boxed Duran. He should have used his superior size and strength to overpower Duran. As for Hagler vs Monzon, I saw both in their prime. It would have been a great fight and very close. I call it even. If they fought 10 times each would win 5.

  • Styles make fights that there tells you how things in boxing are. Hagler put down Hearns because his boxing style, Duran could'nt because of his different style made it to easy for Hearns to land power shots. Duran did well against Hagler because he is more used to fighting inside like most Latin boxers are. People can undermind Hagler for waiting for his competition in middle weight, I just don't see why he was comfortable there and a natural at that weight why kill yourself making weight.

  • YOUR GAY

  • ur a funny kid latinos make great fighters but if they were the strongest theyd have more champs from middleweights - heavy where real power exists

  • We latinos are really tough. We've got balls and don't care about the other's height or weight. There's been good puerto rican heavy weights throught history.

  • Really? Well then name at least 5 good ones then, if that's even possible.

  • what are you talking about? do you know about boxing? Barkley, Moore, the great sugar ray leonard, Ken Buchnan, Esteban de Jesus, Vilomar Fernandez who beat alexis arguello, Maciel, Carlos palomino, Pepino Cuevas, etc. Don't come and bash and guy(Duran) who's been ranked among the best five fighters ever by Ring Magazine.

  • u must have wrote the wrong perosn i said name the top latinos from middles up to heavyweights

  • NO mas!

  • Duran was fighting @ lightweight in 78 @ 135 lbs @ 5 foot 7 reach of67 inchs and @ age 33 fought and pushed the best middleweight in history - marvin had a massive reach advantage , a two inch height advantage and a chin made of steel - its a credit to the smaller Duran that he pushed Marvin all the way .

  • Best middleweight in history? No way! Hagler was a very incorrect fighter, a right handed south-paw.

  • Best middleweight in history? No way! Hagler was a very incorrect fighter, a right handed south-paw

    ************

It is interesting to watch him switch. Watching this fight taught me what "fighting on the inside" means.

  • this fight is very even so far. nice to see haglar score on the insid, but Duran is countering very very effective against the bigger man. Duran is a beautiful tough boxer

  • Durans a great, Hagler's a great, Hearns is a great and so is sugar ray and for all you duran haters out there, Duran is probably the greatest lightweight of all time, he thought and beat the best and the worst that division had to offer. held world titles at 4 different weights, had over 100 professional fights, in his prime had a record of 70odd-1, then moved up to welterweight and beat a prime sugar ray.

  • gr8 comment unfortunately sum1 will probably give you a negative comments :( lol

  • Ray Leonard still got beat up on the inside against a 5'7 lightweight. He only won when he ran.

  • Spot on.

  • anyone can say anything about anyone, duran lost to hearns, hearns to barkley, hagler to leonard, does that make them not great? no. duran started at 118 and fought hagler at 160, not only that, it was the first time hagler went 15 in 4 years. leonard came back after 3 years and beat hagler. duran beat a prime leonard, anyone who says leonard wasnt at hes best is kidding themself, he fought duran all wrong and came back with a perfect fight plan 5 months later :)

  • For all haters Duran was the best fighter from all them ( Hagler,Leonard & Hearns) Why he beat Leonard when Leonard was at his best, he was a natural 137 Pounder when up in weight, Not like Hagler stick at 160 all his carrer -Hearns great puncher but not chin ( Iran Brakley beat his ass twice) Leonard well good until his leggs left him mean while Duran keep coming.

  • you say past his prime when he needed a win he got it? When? He beat guys like Moore or Barkley, but not Benitez and Hearns and Hagler. Duran is not as great as what people think. And guys like Benitez or Hearns completely outclassed him, but then Duran came back later and beat second class guys and people say he is so great for that. But he couldn't beat Tommy and Wilfred.

  • Obviously Duran's very different from & not as great as Ray Robinson, but your ripping on Duran made me think of the comparison. Total domination in their twenties at their natural weights: Robinson, aged 19 to 30, 135 lbs up to 160: 128-1-2 ! Duran, aged 17 to 29, 120 lbs up to 145: 72-1-0 ! Past prime, vs many greats: RR, aged 30 to 37, 160 lbs average: 13-5-0 RD, aged 29 to 37, 145 lbs up to around 160: 13-6-0 Old men: RR aged 37 to 44: 32-13-4 RD aged 37 to 50: 18-9-0
  • it would have been more significant if he beat Ray when Ray fought Hearns or Hagler. But he couldn't. Ray was inexperienced when he fought Duran the first time, and this is proven by how easily he beat Duran the next two times he fought him. He beat him easily. Duran lost to all the greats. Hagler, Benitez and Hearns, and boy did he lose to Tommy Hearns. Tommy outclassed him.

  • Duran was a monster @ lightweight making 14 title defences ( a record ) - only 5 foot 7 and a reach of 67 inchs and @ age 29 went up to welter jumping lightwelter - its a credit to him that within 3 years he was fighting up to full middle 160lbs against physically far bigger and younger fighters particularly when he was giving away reach and height - now imagine the 135 lb duran being scaled up to 160lbs , who would of won then ? = I love em all though leonard / hearns / hagler/ benitez

  • duran beat ray leanord those other guys couldnt, duran leanord 2 is a stupid fiasco if you had half a brain youd already know that, as far as duran losing to those other guys, ever heard of a prime, durans 1972 to 1980, not 1984 plus even past his prime when he needed a win he always got it

  • According to Duran groupies- when Duran wins, he's the greatest. However, when he loses, they develop every conceivable excuse known to mankind from weight-gain/lost, age, boxing glove brand, city fight was held, lack of training, too much training whatever whatever.

  • Nobody is giving any excuses, we are just giving you facts. Duran fought against the best of best for decades and in his prime he just lost one time. Leornard, Tommy, Heagler were all stronger, younger and taller than Duran. Look right now there are not boxers that compares to these great and to them Duran was the older and smaller.

  • Duran lost to Ray two times easily. That takes away from his win. In any other case with any other fighters it would. in this case Roberto gets special treatment. As someone else said, Duran lost to all the greats in the 80s. Greatest fighter ever? Where does it leave those guys who beat him then?

  • durans victory over leanord will never go away its the best victory ever, son, but your just a hater, but because your wasting your time hating means roberto on your mind so he did something right

  • Iran from Iran Berkley is the great fighter pound for pound. Thanks for great video :)

  • Duran's victory over Ray was nullified by losing easily to Ray in 2 fights. He couldn't duplicate that over a better Ray.. And beating Iran Barkley was no big deal. The style was made for Duran. Duran couldn't beat Robbie Sims 3 years before that. And Duran was easily beaten by Benitez is 1982 and destroyed by Hearns in 1984 when Duran was a champion at the same division as Hearns.

  • Leonard became a big fish later when he beat Hearns. When Duran beat him he was on his second title defense and very inexperienced. His only defense to that point was Davey Boy Green. Thomas Hearns at 32 beat I think a more formidable fighter in Virgil Hill than Duran did in 1980 in Leonard.. Leonard was inexperienced. Big fish? Ray came back and beat him easily twice.

  • duran beat the biggest fish in the sea leanord when he is in top shape he is as good as there ever been, durans victories over leanord and barkley are the best to victories of the 80's

  • It's amazing-these Roberto Duran fans. When he win they say he's greatest...however, when he gets beat vs MMH , or thoroughly humiliated vs SRL 2 all they do is BITCH and make {EXCUSES} :(

  • benitez lost to leonard, hearns to hagler and

ray pussy leonard, hearns also lost twice to barkley which duran defeated.duran a lightweight beat leonard, barkley, close with

hagler all bigger guys, benitez could never do

that, there is no comparison, and remember he

was demolished by moore after duran nearly

killed him,I invite you to watch that fight

    MORON.

  • There's no disgrace in losing. With the exception of PBF & Rocky M, all the greatest fighters that have held the position of #1-p4p have suffered defeat during their career. However, it's a pure 'BITCH' move to quit during the middle of a fight. There are fighters/warriors that would rather be carried-out on a stretcher before 'QUITTING' like pussy-ass Roberto Duran. He's a disgrace to the sport of warriors.

  • I think is better to quit in the middle of the

fight against somebody,a coward, who only wants

to run, rather than fight, the girl is bigger disgrace. Why not fight, because you are a pussy.

  • Duran fought until he was 50 against taller, younger, stronger boxer...how may boxers have ever done that ???? How could he be a quitter ???

You just don't know nothing about boxing.

  • You asked the question 'How could Duran be a a quitter? Here's your answer; Unless your memory is completely worthless, you should recall the RE-MATCH between Duran & Leonard. I'm expecting from U some typical BS excuse Y a non-injured fighter (ROBERTO DURAN) 'QUIT' in the middle of a champion bout. Any fighter that 'QUIT' without being injured is a disgrace to the sport.

  • Let me ask you a question...How come it TOOK almost a decade for Leornard to fight Duran again ????...and I tell you why because Leornad was afraid to lose.

How in hell Duran can be a quitter if he beat Leornard in the first fight ??????? a Boxer that fought over 100 fights in 5 decades...my friend you arguments are full of baloney.

  • You just don't get it my friend...Duran fought for pride and glory...sadly Boxers now fight just for money. In the second fight Duran knew that Leornard was going to run like a clown and we could not stand the mockery from Sugar...he was to proud and decided, maybe wrongly, to leave the fight. But in no way Duran is a quitter, Duran is 100% a Macho, his mother gave birth to a Man.

  • Well, Duran beats Ray in 1980 in their first fight, did not he? and the next match Ray was running around the ring the whole time. I think history is history, and Duran proved to be one of the bests, with ups and downs as a normal human being.

  • hagler hearns duran top three leonard not top 4. he picked his fights to much the others fought whoever was the next in line. & they would have fought for nothing but the belt & pride. what a great era. do you think we will ever see the like of again . i hope so !

  • leanord fought alot better the night he lost to duran then when he won, duran threw the fight, if you really judge the way he dominated fighters lke paliino, bucaanon, marcel, then beat leanord on leanords best night, duran waned to beat leanord and he did, he never wanted to beat him twice so he took the money and ran, duran fought close to a stalmate with hagler while being way past his prime

  • nathans hot dogs dont no nothing duran beat leanord for all the marbles and is by far the best fighter of the fab 4, primes duran would smoke all those fools like he smoked leanord for all the marbles , plus he is way past his prime at this point

  • well you have to realize that duran had already had over 70 fights when he fought leoanard and benitez. what duran accomplished was amazing. if he had been more disciplined outside of the ring, there would be no dispute over him being the greatest of all time.

73 fights with 56KOs, 22 in the first round one loss (De jesus) who then he KO twice.

Duran is on my top 3 of all time

  • I agree with you. I just recently started watching his fights, and now he's become one of my favorite boxers. His first fight against Sugar Ray was awesome. I don't any fighters today, fight with that intensity.

  • Had Hagler jabbed at Roberto instead of trying to throw the straight left it would have worked better and opened more punches. Look how effective Hearn was with his jab against Roberto.

  • It would have been more impressive had he been able to beat Benitez and Hearns. But to say he is impressive with Hagler and then he was beat easily by Benitez and Hearns means he had a good style for Marvin, but still all Marvin did was pick up the pace the last few rounds in a boring fight and he won.

  • The reason Hearns could not extend Marvin was because Hearns never had a lot of stamina because of how thin he was. He could never outlast Hagler, but he could outbomb anyone with his freakish straight right -- and had he not broken his right hand on the first punch he threw at that steel dome of Hagler, I believe he might have knocked him out.

  • Duran cleaned out the entire lightweight division, good sir. He had the frame of a natural lightweight -- him moving up into the most impressive welterweight division of all-time and doing as well as he did, then challenging Marvin Hagler and thinking up the right strategy to combat him (move away, slip and counter) is impressive no matter how you slice it.

  • If you don't believe that Duran is a masterful boxer than you haven't really looked closely at this fight. Hagler simply couldn't find him with anything meaningful. This fight made a real Duran fan out of me. Hearns relied more on slugging than Duran, thus he couldn't slip his way through an extend fight with Hagler.

  • duran is a promoters dream he lets others become legends cause he dont duck nobody even whens he's older, unlike leanod who retires for five years to duck people

  • Was this fight before Hagler/ Hearns, Hearns/ Duran?

  • Hagler-Duran was in November 10 of 1983. Hearns-Duran in June 15 of 1984 and Hagler-Hearns in April 15 of 1985.

  • Watching these rounds go by, you gotta wonder how Hearns would have done had he tried to be patient with Marvin, tried to extend him, stick him.
