It's too bad Honda no longer sells these in the US. Their first diesel generator was the E4000 starting in the late-1960s; that had a V-twin air-cooled engine.
@w4csc then who really makesit?? chinese products tend to have very low quality materials in the same shape mold usually pot metal. same with the plastics. are you trying to say honda is just a rebrander of other peoples products or engineering in the case of this product?
@circusboy90210 The Chinese gensets I've seen are exactly the same without the Honda castings and artwork. My Chinese "silent diesel generator", the yellow one in these other videos, runs great after 2000 hours use. I took the importer's advise and flushed out the crankcase with 3 loads of solvent before even starting it on unpacking it to get any machining filings or casting sand clear, then filled it with oil, changing it twice at 10 hour intervals when new.
@w4csc svo is not good for diesels... take the extra step & go biodiesel. svo causes buildup on piston crowns & valve guides . do some research. please do tell me what the metal quailty is like. finish as good as honda? what about casting flash???
@circusboy90210 Chinese generators these days are built like tanks. I haven't heard any bad reveiws on them other than the fact they're shipped with bad spark plugs out of the box. Other than that they are a super buy for the money.
@oneworldkingdom here's how to tell your fos. diesel engines don't have spark plugs, even as we speak I've seen recent Chinese products of this caliber and they metal is irregular and full of aberrations. you get what you pay for, metallurgy cost money and so does good metal , two things china is lacking along with good engineers. anything that needs this much power is sensitive and valuable , much to so to trust to cheap anything.
@circusboy90210 For one I never said Diesel engines. I said Chinese generators. And it has been proven that Chinese generators are some great machines. I have one. I've been using it for 2 years for my home office when the power goes down which happens often here in the islands. As for diesel engines? I never mentioned those. So I don't know.
@oneworldkingdom same molds but not the same metals of metalurgy, chinese products will never compare. they have a proven track record of being shoddily assembled. I would gladly pay 10 times the amount for warantee and metalurgy differences alone. too much is at stake to risk to cheap chinese junk.
@circusboy90210 I understand what you're saying about the quality of the metal. But not everything requires high quality. Some products can get by on aluminum instead of gold. I'm not sure about their other products, but their portable generators have proven to be built very well according to videos and reviews. Maybe you should check them out.
@oneworldkingdom your referring to types of metal I'm referring to quality of metallurgy gold is not necessarily better for certatin applications. Chinese use what's called pot metal, a mixture of unknown metals mixed together because it's all they could get. on top of that they are poorly mixed so the metals are inconsistent causing premature failures along the metals grains . the inconsistency cause strange grain patterns that are extremely weak. do not buy Chinese products
@circusboy90210 I have to say I agree some Chinese made machines aren't fantastic due to poor metal quality, I have a 2 stroke generator that uses cheap materials and there is a flaw in the head and I have had to re - tap several holes. But having said that some Chinese made ones are pretty good, like yanmar clones - some are very cheap and aren't very robust, but more expensive ones are pretty good as they use better materials, so not all of the Chinese makes are too bad some are pretty good :]
@DeepFriedFuzzball the yanmar clones might be better but are still not as good as the original, again chinese products fail, they should stick to socks and trinkets. plus I refuse to ship jobs to people who can't afford to reciprocate purchases of my nations economy on top of having inferior products and treating their workers like utter shyte.
@circusboy90210 Oh no don't get me wrong, even tho some are OK, of course they'll never be as good as a Yanmar, I know this. One problem is the fuel system malfunctioning. Even tho it's fixable you'd never get it with a Yanmar. There's Yanmar service too. I wholely agree with you tho, I too would far rather support a company of my country (England), or America or Europe and I too hate how they treat their workers. I was just saying that some stuff isn't too bad that's all...don't hate on me :/
@DeepFriedFuzzball don't worry man I"m not into hating many people . just like for the truth to come out. the problem with the chinese is they are being exploited by the communist government. pick us we will do it cheaper. we will even put our kids to work.
Just a thought here. If the Chinese never produce anything but socks and trinkets, how will they ever be ABLE to reciprocate purchases from the USA. Just something to think about. They WILL get there eventually. The wage level is already many times what it was just 10 years ago. I have a few Chinese machines. a 200cc Dual Sport motorcycle, a 150cc scooter, and a harbor freight 2 stroke generator. So far the bikes have been great for the money and the gen works great too.
@kens97sto171 godo for you. they can reciprocate by the income from our socks and trinkets. who cares if they ever become succesfull , I'm concerned with the us.
No they reciprocate by buying Boeing Aircraft from us. And if you don't become concerned about how successful they become and the way they achieve that you are guaranteeing that we lose in the end. We live in a linked world.. Get used to it.. it ain't going back. We have to find a way to compete. Do you know that Buick sells more cars in China than they do here in the USA? They are built in China. But that money still goes to GM
@kens97sto171 this does nothing for the american auto worker. those jobs belong here it's an american company. you don't shit on the nation that made you. cina's airlines would by boeings from us even if we didn't buy any thing more from them or contributed to their abuse of workers by purchasing their crap substandard products. do you know china is the #1 consumer of coal from the us?? would be no loss if they stopped. the us would pick up that consumtion
GM made the choice to build that plant in China. We should be glad they buy them at all. As to abuse of workers. You think there was no abuse of workers in the USA when WE went thru our industrial revolution. You can't put OUR current work ethics onto them. They are not where we are at socially, But they will be soon. Actually there would be a loss to the coal industry. Cause we are not building new coal plants they are too dirty. This IS stupid but true, Obama wants no coal.
@kens97sto171 what one person wants in a democracy is irrelevant, obama needs to stop thinking he is the only person in a democracy; the people make the choices. the executive branch is there to execute the decisions of the people not to make opinion. there are a few plants being built , and some of them very clean. there is one in chicago .dual cycle china should be ahead of us industrially they had an industrial revolution 2000 years ago with the silk loom.
@kens97sto171 yes the same way japanese makers fabricate vehicles here but ship their profits back home. the chinese also purchase coal , & engineering knowledge from us too.
Mine runs for 28 days on full load and thats making popcorn 24/7 Oohhhh i love my popcorn!! nobody comes between me and my popcorn STEP BACK FROM THE POPCORN...
Hallo Eric, would you like to tell me, How much liters are in need of this machine (Full tank) and how many hours.. (Sorry with my poor grammer ) Thanks :)
These unit's were made in Japan by Honda Motor Company about 10 years ago. This unit is 100% Honda my friend. They had a 5KW and 12KW unit available.

High rpm. No good...

@Umaxen you have to have high rpm for a genset of this size.
robby844 1 year ago
you can get the remote from any Honda Dealer, it should have come with the gen set. I believe they are about $400.00
EricThornhill 1 year ago
They're about half price if you buy the Chinese branded model without Honda's big profit margin and dealer load on it.
Same genset has a hundred names....
