It's my birthday today, time to go talk to Mama. U see She normaly calls me, but I need to get used to the fact that She won't be doin' that anymore. GOD I MISS HER....RIP..KEEP LOOKIN' MAMA, ONE DAY I WILL BE RIGHT BESIDE YOU (SOON, HEART PROBLEMS MYSELF)
My Mother singes in HEAVEN NOW. Passed away on April 29, 2011. I'm still havin' a hard time with it. Every time I here this song it brings back the momories of my Mother. This was Her favorite song of Bill Anderson along with Po' Folks because She grew up very poor. I LOVE YOU MORE MOM, GOD BE WITH YOU....
@therifleman338 I know how you are feeling. I lost my Mom last year, the first months you feel like being homeless...and you can´t believe that she´s gone forever. My thoughts are with you, God bless you!
@Maribo33 Thanks for your help, and wonderful thoughts. My Mama told me one time, She went to a Bill Anderson concert, and He refused to sing (Mama sang a song) He said it was too personal. Toward the end of the concert He finely agreed to sing the song, only if there was absolute silence. My Mama said it was so quit you could hear a pin drop.Gotta go, Thanks once again, Mark
This my favorite song of Bill Anderson you just can't hear songs like this anymore and it's sad Nashville has died and gone to hell but we can always go back and relive the glorydays and speaking of glory this would go to #1 for a combine 7 weeks on 10-27-62.
I've had a rough relationship with my mom for the last few years. I never heard this song while my mom and dad were separated. I bought a collection CD a few years ago called "The Greatest Country Music Collection Ever." All the greats had at least one song on it; Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, George Jones, Lee Greenwood, Tammy Wynette, Ray Price, Freddy Fender, and others. "Whispering" Bill Anderson was represented by this beautiful song, a lyrical masterpiece. I feel better now.
this has always been my favorate song. It always brings a teat to my eyes, i losst my Mother about 30 years ago. Imiss her to this day. rest in pease Momma.
Three years ago, my mother died. The day before the funeral, the pastor asked what hymns we might like at the funeral. I suggested Patsy Clines, Just a Closer Walk With Thee for the opening hymn. My mom loved her music.
For the closing hymn, I brough a CD with this song on it. As you watch you mother lay in a casket, and hear this song, you then truly know how lucky you were to have your mother. So many people were teary eyed, and some were crying like babies. I think everyone related
@eddiebatmv Yes, I know exactly what you mean...My Mom passed away in March this year, and it was the hardest time I´ve ever was going through. No one can ever replace the loving heart of a Mom.
My heart goes out to you so much.I lost my dad a few years back du to cancer for some reason I am playing this song alone without others around me knowing that I am.I read what you wrote.. it hits home hard core with me. I don't have the strength for anymore funerals specially my moms .. She is alive but I see she is also aging....I take one day at a time as it was our last day together and I thank god that I have this opportunity to what he had given me for this day together
I love Bill Anderson, Always have... he just gets BETTER and BETTER with age and time. This was a FAV of mine and our family's... SO SO PRETTY... memories...
I dedicate this song to my loving mother!! Helen Hall Sizemore!! She was a wonderful mother and "precious memories" was her favorite gospel song!! I still remember still her singing to use kids' "Momas Going To Buy You a Mocking Bird!" How precious those memories really were!! Love you mom!!
Bill Anderson stated in his autobiography that of the literally hundreds of songs he has written or recorded, this particular one remains one of his three all time favorites. It's easy to see why.
my mom played this song when I was a kid. I'm 52 now and I remember the day my mother played this song, and I remember it well.............. keep those memories.
i have lost my mother as i was aboard in Germany for i could not forgive myself for not being there at here bed before her death ,so it ever reminds me if i hear this songs
This always brought tears to my eyes, but to hear it now, can't hole back the tears, for my mother passed away 2 years ago, and daddy doesn't have much long till he goes to meet momma. Thanks you so much for the post.
I've always loved this song. Brings tears to my eyes, yet I never seem to be able to listen to it enough. Thanks for sharing with us all. May God Bless!
There are times when I miss home my siblings, and friends. Hearing this song brings back many wonderful memories that I cannot re-live. I guess that all of us in some way can relate to this song. It has a profound effect on me. May God bless all of us who can cherish the quality time spent with their famalies. Thank you for sharing this song with the Youtube family.
Thanks for this most wonderful posting as it brings back a flood of pleasant memories. It was a blessing to hear this classic song once again. Keep up the good work Maribo33 and may God richly bless!
This song reminds me of my childhood when my mom used to read to us from the Bible and then sing a song. there were six of us kids and we just sat there on the floor...listening to every word. Some memories just don't go away.
I love this song and I loved to hear Bill sing it and talk it. 5 *****. This bought back memories because it has been a long time since I had heard it. I agree with Mike on it.
America used to be such a good place with such good strong families. Now good families as described in this song are the exception when it used to be the rule for the most part. Hymns sung in American homes anymore? We all know the thought of it is a sad joke nowadays. Divorce or non marrying is the rule today thanks to 40 years of work by the women's groups.
Oh yes Marie, I meant to say that I came from a home where our Mama sang CONSTANTLY (still does) as she went about her daily chores, so this song speaks to a very special corner of my heart. Thank you again for selecting this song and for producing the video. Mike
TWO WORDS: Simply Beautiful! Truly, this is some of your best work yet. A very moving recitation by old "Whispering Bill", and your choice of photos, graphics and artwork are excellent my friend.
